Auto mind block question
When a mind mage has auto mind block, and it is triggered due to telepathy or whatever, how do you rule what happens to powers that are active? The book state that, " The moment the psychic is being mind probed, a personal mind block automatically snaps into place." Then the mind block power states,"When intentionally closed to supernatural or psychic forces, the character cannot sense anything, cannot use his psionic abilities, nor be psionically influenced by others." So what would happen? Would a Psi-shield disappear, what about a telekinetic force field, or super telekinesis?

Re: Auto mind block question
From that description it would seem clear that his own powers would stop!
Seems a bit harsh so I might house rule that the mind mage can keep his abilities.

Re: Auto mind block question
I would rule that if the mind block is automatic, then the powers still function but at a percentage of their normal strength (like, say, 50-75%). If the mind block is not automatic, but the psychic has to concentrate to turn it on, then he has no access to his other powers until the mind block stops.

It's a BLOCK. It stops everything going in or coming out.
Powers are cut off.
This is why Mind Block Auto-Defense isn't usually a great power.

Considering it will just pop into place and deprive you of any of your abilities while it is active (could be 1 second, could be 10 minutes depeding on what is causing it to activate), yeah it isn't THAT great a power in that regard.
I am with KC on this one. It would cut off all powers that were active and not allow any to be used as long as MB-AD was up and active.
I am very opinionated. Yes I rub people the wrong way but at the end of the day I just enjoy good hard discussion and will gladly walk away agreeing to not agree

Re: Auto mind block question
Hooray! Finally a way to get back at those pesky mind mages! My ogre with minor psionics is going to constantly telepathically probe any mind mage he meets and then bash his smug face in when his powers vanish. Brilliant!
Seriously, though, it does look like any existing powers would stop. But he can imediately open himself up afterwards and use his psionics from then on (I would assume only a new use of the telepathic probe would trigger the mind block again). I would think that a mind mage would happily allow someone to telepathically or empathically probe him if it meant he could telekinetically chuck them off a cliff while they were doing it!
