Is Chaos Earthe a dead game?

Unread post by Dunia »

In the Main Book for Chaos Earth, they promise more books, and to my knowledge only 2 have been published. So is CE just another dead line of games or what?

So any dates or thoughts on IF the following books will ever be released:
* The Psychic Storm
* NEMA mission book 1-2
* any other book they have promised us and never delivered

Jason Richards is working on those books and supposedly will have them out "soon".

First Responders is in the pipeline for editing.
I also have a Chaos Earth manuscript turned in, waiting its turn for editing.
So, no, it is not a dead game.

Anyway, no game can be really "dead" as long as people are still playing it.

Others have commented, but I may as well chime in.

My book (First Responders) is on Kevin's desk awaiting editing, to hopefully hit the shelves this year. Taylor's is likewise waiting.

My next book project is Psychic Storm, which I'll start once First Responders goes to print. Once Psychic Storm goes to print, my next book is Brothers in Arms (about the military forces of North America during and after the cataclysm).

I can't speak to the status of NEMA Mission Books 1 and 2.

It's definitely not dead. In fact once new books start rolling out, I'm sure it's going to be huge.

I hope it's successful. Rifts has just gotten too big. For a group looking for a new game there's just too much material to even go through a fraction of it; not even counting 55+ issues of The Rifter. Chaos will be much easier to get into.

I disagree about a game being dead. A game that has no official support is dead. There's nothing to stop you from playing a dead game but when a game has no official support that's an instant "non purchase" for a lot of gamers. Ysgarth: I still play it and it's still dead.

Well I just started playing a CE PbP as a NEMA Fire & Rescue and I think that First Responders will be a huge asset when it comes out. I've said it before and I'll say it again "Chaos Earth is not a dead game, not by a long shot"!

From my experience Chaos Earth tech is scaled much better than Rifts, since Rifts the scaling is... :|

Wait, there was a scale in Rifts? :?
Norbu the Enchanter: Hello friends! What brings you to my shop today?

Big Joe: We need some things enchanted to take a beating...

Norbu: Perhaps you want your weapons enchanted? Or maybe a shield or sword? I can even enchant armor!

Big Joe: We need you to enchant this Liver, this heart, and these kidneys.

Norbu: :shock:

Yes, but there's also such a small selection that the scaling is easy.

I think we need First Responders more! Than anything with mystically supercharged zombies. ;)

I almost always do. If I miss something, send me a PM. I'm pretty busy and on anything from an 8 to 11 hours different schedule than most of you, so give me a few days, but I'll always respond.

I agree. My only fear is that they'll continue to be on the smaller (98 page or less) side. I hope they can offer enough new material to create larger books. That would reinforce my faith; just knowing that one idea/concept spawned enough material for a World Book sized (120+ pages) supplement.
