What's the closest thing to a ninja?
OK, so we're starting up a new PFRPG game, and I've been thinking I'd like to play a ninja, or something similar. What's the closest OCC to a ninja in PFRPG, and what book is it in?

Best thing I can think of is a PF Martial Artist if your GM would allow Ninjitsu as a form. It's in N&S on pg 163 and follows 1st ed PFRPG format, but should be simple enough to convert over. There's also this thread that provides a few conversion ideas for making a 2nd ed PF Martial Artist to consider.
Beyond that, the only thing that really would work would be a standard Assassin or Thief (PFRPG pgs 94 & 91 respectively) with skill sets and choices oriented around your idea. That is unless there are other OCC's that cover it better in books or Rifters I don't have in my possession, of which there are several.

In pure cannon, Assassin, which is about as close to historical accurate as well.
For a more "fantasy" ninja, and without going to new books, and GM allowing, Multi-classing Assassin / Mystic (using spells / psi as their special ninjitsu powers).

Pure canon, the PF MA user class in the back of N&S, decked out with spying skills.
May you be blessed with the ability to change course when you are off the mark.

Rhomphaia wrote:a psychic Assassin or Thief is your best bet. From what I understand of ninjas, they were not just about assassination (though that was a major role), but overall espionage. They were sort of like a privatized special forces unit. I feel the Thief OCC is slightly more accurate in this regard than Assassin.
The overall espionage was the focus of ninja with most of the combat being to make a "get-away." Most ninja were also a part of a "ninja clan" thus sending them out on high risk missions such as assassinations was not done lightly.
So the Spy class in the Yin-Sloth book would be in the running for prospective 'ninja class'.

I ended up using the Ninja OCC from Rifter 27, with the ninjitsu option. I think he turned out pretty cool. Thanks for all the advice!
