Probably because when compared to strapping yourself to the front of a rocket engine, it's just too slow and boring. I'd probably give a SAMAS pilot a bonus to cooking 5 meals at once while singing a capella to soothe an angry lion.

ironically, if they take it as a secondary skill, they get no penalty at all. go figure

maybe being a samas pilot ruins your ears so you can't hear tones properly, making you tone-deaf a little bit... but i got nothing as far as cooking. maybe something about being a samas pilot damages their sense of taste/smell as well =S
