Throwing Stones

Unread post by G »

The Stone master can lift lets say 18,000 pounds of stone with an average PS. That is rolling 3.5 on every 6 sided die..

..what should the range and damage be for being hit by an 8 ton rock??

Normally, you can throw double what you can carry - do you think that should apply here?

The best metric for damage in this kind of situation should probably be the Gravity Manipulation power, as described in CB1r, p. 49
According to which, an 18,000 pound chunk of stone would inflict something like 12d4x10+60 MD.
The range would be 100'.

Yes.
You can throw the amount of weight you can lift, not just what you can carry.

Not true, according to RUE page 328, you can throw half as much as you can carry.

I'd also use the damage listed in Atlantis under the Stone Master power "Levitation and Telekinesis of Stone" granted, the damage listed is for simply dropping the rock on someone's head but I don't think someone throwing their maximum possible weight is going to be throwing it a lot harder than gravity.

Right you are.
I stand corrected.

Hm.
I think I'm going to keep my original call here.
I don't see why there would be a drastic damage difference between one person throwing that kind of weight and another person throwing that kind of weight, all else being equal.
The Levitation and Telekinesis of Stone powers specify that they're slow-moving, so perhaps that softens the drop.
Also, the ceiling is 30', so the dropped objects from that power might not have the time to reach full acceleration.
