Fortunately there's Kensuke Aida...

Other people that Shinji could be raised by: Rambo, Ken(Street Fighter), the Diggers, Ichigo..., the possiblities are endless.

“It’s been a while, Shinji.” Gendo said to his estranged son.
“So this is all that I was brought here for?”
“I have a use for you, our sole pilot is incapacitated therefore you have been activated as a replacement. You are to enter the Unit-01 and pilot it.”
Shinji smiled, then reached behind his back and seemingly pulled from nowhere a large oval pod-like device. Misato and Ristuko were temporarily baffled by the sleight of hand, and were for a moment trying to figure out what the hell the young man had in his hands.
They were still gaping, when the device slid open, Shinji slipped his hand inside around the pistol grip, and opened fire on his father.

And to finish the job, all the Zorg oldies but goldies: rocket launcher( #FWOOOSHKER-BLAM!# , a missile screamed through the window to explode); arrow launcher, with exploding or poisonous gas heads(-thudthudthudthud-ssssssssss, four arrows obligingly flew through the now thoroughly scorched window, apparently thudding into something soft behind. And for the grand finale, the all-new ice cube system(###SSHHHIIIISSSSHHH###, as icy vapor clouded the now aflame window)."
“Ah, and the red button?” Ritsuko managed to croak out as the two women looked on gobsmacked at the sheer violence just unleashed on the now almost certainly dead Commander by his son.
“Oh, good! You’re a killer! I appreciate that! The red button, why-” and with that Shinji pushed it, then overhanded the weapon through the window above. (@@@BOOOOMMMM@@@)
“That’s the self-destruct feature!” Shinji finished shouting as he ducked flying debris.
“Now, about that ‘Angel’? Do you have something for me to use to kill it with, or do I have to bring my own?” Shinji smiled brightly at Misato, as she was scrambling to pull out her pistol, as he reached behind his back and pulled out another oval-shaped weapon.

As the 5th Angel rampaged across the city, Lancer stepped out.
Lancer: Hey there Angel! (Getting it's attention) Rather then try and sing to you I've decided to introduce you to someone.

Annie rises on a platform next to an EVA sized ZF-1S.

Lancer: Angel meet Annie. Annie, sick em!!! (Dives for cover)

Annie: (Smiles)

Tune in for the next episode... Collateral Damage.

Fifth Element was just just a low-key but LIKEABLE movie, even though Bruce Willis looked like he walked off another set and simply slumped through the movie(which was perfect for his character...so utterly blaise about yet another suicide mission).
And there's just something about the way the name Jean-Baptiste Emmanuel Zorg sounds as a villian's name.

Yeah, in this scenario, Gendo probably wasn't the first father figure Shinji had whacked, much to Jean-Baptiste's simultaneous shock and joy, putting Shinji firmly in charge of Zorg Industries, which was one of the companies SEELE couldn't infiltrate or subvert, and which actually did very well selling arms to everybody in the aftermath of Second Impact. Now Shinji's not the type to cut a deal with extraterrestrial extradimensional world-destroying entities(and that might have been one of the justifications Shinji used to excuse offing his adoptive 'dad'), but he's not above using the vast clout and resources of the Zorg corporate empire to get rid of anybody in his way, such as having SEELE taken out, and having anybody at NERV who resists him permanently disappeared or sent to 're-training' somewhere(refer to reports of a bikini-clad Misato seen lounging on a Zorg Industries-flagged yacht six months after she tried to have Shinji arrested in the Geofront for murder).
And the next Angel that shows up is going to exhaust itself going through all those re-designed and re-armed Jet Alone clones, even before they run into the Super-ZF-armed EVAs.
Yep, this is Aberrant Evil Shinji, enjoying the good life as a bad boy.

Nah; 5th Element took itself a LOT less seriously. Roddy Rod would have lasted about ten seconds in that business tower before one of the Germans just plain shot him dead to shut him up.

Of course, the ULTIMATE Fourth Wall Crossover of Robotech is, if it hasn't already been done online somewhere, MST3K-Robotech, but that beggers the question, is it really a crossover or a parody? Or a Crossover Parody? When you're MST3King a MST3K of something else, does not the 'twice-removed' aspect render it a crossover?

(Waits for heads to explode, or at least ears dribble blood)

TimeLoop
Rick groaned; he wondered what he’d done wrong to deserve this last run of Time Loops; it wasn’t as if they’d MEANT their attempt to reprogram the Fold Drives on Dolza’s fortress to jump it into a star had instead resulted in it crashing into the Earth instead! But somehow karma had decided to get even with him by separating him from his fellow Loopers and send him on a hellish(even taking into account the fact that they HAD been to Hell way back when) sequence of solo time loops where he was the only one who was Awake and aware.
There had been that one where Lisa and Minmei had switched bodies, with Lisa instead being of mixed Chinese-Anglo background and Minmei being daughter of an American franchise king. No matter what he did, Rick had felt that he was somehow cheating.
Then there had been the one where Lisa and Minmei had switched personalities; with Lisa being the self-absorbed, ditzy, military martinet, and Minmei the in-control, professional, careerist with an almost unholy alliance of brains and ambition, and part of her ambition was to net one Rick Hunter. That had really pushed him to the breaking point and ready to kamikaze right down the mouth of the Grand Cannon.
Then there was THIS one. Earth under alien invasion; but it WASN’T the Zentraedi. Instead, some group of humanoid space pirates backed by some big power calling itself the ‘Juraian Empire’ had essentially moved in on Earth, occupied it, and then been thrown off by rebellious Terrans, but not before a fair amount of damage had been done to human society, and many social conventions overturned in favor of new ones.
Rick had been one of the rebels. So had Lisa, but she had had the misfortune of being caught, rounded up, and ‘harvested’ to be sent offworld and sold as a slave. When Rick’s resistance team had hijacked the slave ship and released its cargo from the stasis pods the prisoners were held in, they’d only belatedly discovered that the pods were also set to brainwash the occupants, and imprint them on the next person they saw. That might not have been so bad, as Rick had fortunately been the first thing Lisa Hayes had seen upon waking up, but since she’d subsequently almost taken his virginity right there on the slave hold floor, she’d been unrelenting in getting him into the sack whenever she wasn’t helping the Resistance...or fighting with the other woman in Rick’s life.
That was the other thing Rick hated about this Loop. Somewhere along the line, some chucklehead had decided that Earth would do well to adopt the Juraian tradition of polygamy, justifying it by pointing out that a much-depleted Terran population needed to be built up, and the loss of too many men, and the alien occupiers’ preference for female births, to slave labor impressment offworld had changed gender demographics on Earth. Oh yes, and there was a political angle, especially where Rick was concerned. Being an up and coming figure in the Resistance, Rick was much-sought after as a potential ally by certain groups, and some of them were willing to seal their agreements with marriage.
So Rick had found himself saddled with a marriage to Lynn Minmei. Only this Minmei was the daughter of a chieftain in an Asian criminal syndicate and major faction in the pro-Earth movement, people Rick couldn’t afford to alienate by refusing the offered alliance-betrothal. THIS Minmei was trained for politics, assassination, was sexy as hell, and perfectly willing to put up with Rick’s prior marriage, as long as she got at least equal time.
Which made for very interesting home life when they weren’t fighting space pirates; with his wives either sniping at each other(Lisa calling Minmei a gun-moll, and Minmei calling Lisa a sex-doll) or conspiring to bed him until his ears bled(he still got shivers looking about the bomb clamp pylon bolted to the ceiling of his bedroom). Rick almost felt safer in the cockpit, flying intercept missions against pirate raiders or taking the fight to the pirates in the outer solar system.
As he prepared to enter his house, wondering if it was going to be a dominance catfight, a naked glomp, or a dagger-borne invitation to have sex(Minmei was SCARILY accurate with those little obsidian throwing blades) that greeted him, Rick hoped that Lisa NEVER learned of these Loops.

“Hello, My name is Rick Hunter and I HATE the military. Nothing good ever comes of them!”
Lisa looked at the long-haired young man that had returned to the SDF-1 with Minmei and Lieutenant Kyle and wondered what the HELL she had done to deserve this. It wasn’t as if they’d MEANT to destroy an entire galactic arm by sending the Neutron-S missiles into a star...

Timeloops: Timeloops To Forget

"Push, honey, PUSH!"
Max fought back a scream and bore down hard, as she sweated and grunted to deliver her first child, her husband Mir'yan clutching her hand and looking very pale as he witnessed the way Micronians reproduced.
Max wondered how the hell things had gotten this warped that he'd wound up as the woman in the relationship this time, while Miriya, not Awake in this Loop, was born a man. Max would never again tease Rick about the time he'd spent a Loop as 'Rikky', but then again, Rick would NEVER learn of this Loop if Max had any say in the matter.
As another contraction hit, Max spared a moment's thought to what she'd done to deserve this. Maybe it was the time they'd hijacked the Grand Cannon and used it as a giant reaction engine to push the Earth around the solar system on a joy ride? Ye God, but she couldn't think the others had anything this bad!

Ben frantically pushed another sofa in front of the door, nervously eyed the planks and bars he'd fastened across it, and tried not to hear the pounding and growling from the other side. Then he went back to checking his ammunition and the makeshift flamethrower he'd rigged up, just in case, while hoping that he'd gotten all other possible entrances to this part of the derelict Robotech Masters' ship he'd found himself on.
Really, all he'd done was used the cloning equipment to run off a few hundred copies of himself for company! How was he supposed to know they'd turn into raging cannibalistic zombies out for his blood?

Somewhere in Alaska, 2011 AD, Pre-Rain of Death:
*Crackle*#PSHTTT#Thump!
The security guard looked around at the sound, then started as somebody walked out of the shadows towards him.
“Who the hell are YOU?”
The figure stopped, cocked its...no, HER head at his challenge. He realized it was a female, as her nudity made her gender very obvious.
“Okay, where’s your clothes? Lemme guess, laundry day, no clothes, right?”
The young woman looked at him.
“Laundry day. No clothes. Right.”
“Haha.” The montone reply was rather unnerving.
“Give me your clothes.”

“A WHAT?! Nope, never heard of it, either.”

(!Grab!)
“Come with me if you want to live.”
As the Minmeinator hauled a confused Lisa Hayes to the awaiting jeep, in the distance security sirens began wailing around Alaska Base...

I leave it to you, dear readers, to decide if it's a future Lisa or a future (older, wiser) Minmei who sends the Minmeinator back in time..... :D

Now, a cruel and nasty twist might be to have the Haydonites sending the TE-1000 back in time to eliminate key figures in human history..which might lead to something like:
"Okay, Max, what I want to know is why what appears to be Ben Dixon is trying to protect me from a guy Roy Fokker described to me, said guy being on the ship instead of Earth, and apparently possessing the ability to turn himself into a mercury-like substance!"
"Figure it out later, Rick! Run faster!"

We did...it was part of the sidereal 'Gunslinger Girl/Halo in 20th Century/Robotech' timeline. The UEG's re-armed forces actually break up the Asran civil war when it went nuclear.

(a try at a timeloop...)

Timeloop: ??

Captain Gloval couldn't help but wonder at the situation he had found himself in. first, none of the rest of the group were present in this loop. in fact, their nonawake versions were not even present. second, His name was not Henry J. Gloval this time around. His full name was absurd sounding and in a language he'd never heard of before, and he went by no name at all or psuedonyms anyway, apparently. somehow he knew everything that had happened to 'him' up to the point he had woken up in this timeline, but the whole thing just seemed to surreal. weirder than even the history of his earth after 1999. to begin with, he was apparently the ruler of a now dead nation he'd never heard of before, and still had trouble beleiving. especially since he looked just like the picture he'd seen of his great-great-Grandfather. however if this truely was part of his original timeline, some of the history he now knew might explain some of the oddities about the origins of the Robotech Masters and the zentreadi. but his attempts to determine whether he was in the 'real' timeline had failed due to the amount of things that didn't match up with the history he'd learned in college.
for example, it was the year 1889. the civil war had been over for 24 years, japan had just started to build a modern government around the Emperor, and the Eiffel tower had only recently been finished. the steam powered battleship had just recently come to dominate naval power. yet here had been hunting down a fleet of nuclear powered submarines being operated by a secret society that combined the worst elements of the nazi's with the concept of a hereditary nobility. and to do so he had an Antimatter powered super submarine larger than the Oscar class he'd commanded in the Global war.. yet for all the technological wonders on this ship, the crew had no clue how to fight an undersea battle. it had had taken him months just to get them to turn off the active sonar when in battle, and target using passive systems. not that it had helped. once this ship had started to be successful in defeating the enemies 'garfish', they'd just brought in a flying battleship. that ambush had cost him the ship. it may not have been 'his' in a technical sense, but loosing a ship was never easy. even when the entire command deck doubled as an escape pod.
nor did the act he'd done only half an hour before feel right. he'd been held at gunpoint by his female first officer, who'd he'd developed feelings for, and told outright she'd seen him as a father figure and ripped apart all his command choices for the last few years. that only a handful of them had been his and not the choices of the person he was inhabiting was something he couldn't tell her. he was dead certain that if he'd tried to inform people in this loop of his unique status, things would get much much worse. and during this little act of near mutiny, his Xo had let slip that the girl they'd picked up months ago was 'his' daughter in this timeline. and said daughter had been listening in over an intercom from the capatins cabin where she had been locked in. then he'd had to eject the captains quarters from the ship, and let her escape from the drifting escape ship. that little family relationship had been a can of worms he'd been trying to avoid entirely.
Now was not the time to reflect on the bizzare events he'd experianced in this loop. his crew was obviously waiting for orders. thundering asteroids, you'd think they couldn't take their own initiative. he dug into the knowledge of the world he'd gained in this loop.

actually, the glimpse of gargoyle's face you get near the end has him looking rather more like T.R. Edwards from the sentinel's movie.. at least IMO

Been reading up on this topic and I'm having a blast.

As for a crossover how about RT/Warhammer 40,000?

Already done; There was Shinji learning that there's a Sisters of Battle-style organization based on Asuka, and then there was the UEsG expedition that (fortunately) ran into the Reasonable Marines Chapter(who told them their best choice was to return to their dimension of origin and stay away from WH40K). However, at least one Inquisitor has subsequently showed up on the Game of Pain(notably torturing Grimbor Chainsman).

Oh, ok then I'm only on page 20 of this thread and I have to say this would make for one hell of a story.

Thanks. Lots of folks contributed to making it what it is.
Sometimes it's 'let's see what we can get away with', other times it's 'let's stump folks with references to obscure anime, movies, or literature'.
Considering that there's 'Pride and Prejudice and Zombies', we haven't yet seen a Robotech and "Wuthering Heights crossover"...yet being the imperative word...Though I just might consider crossing over Robotech(or other anime) with James Joyce, simply because just about ANYTHING would make James Joyce more readable and slightly more tolerable.

Thanks Everyone for adding to this wonderful topic :D

James Joyce?, never heard of him before and from what you have said about him I don't think I want to know about him.

James Joyce; Irish writer. Best known for the semi-autobiographical Portrait of the Artist as a Young Man and Ulysses. Both tend to be required reading in college English Literature courses. -Tedious- doesn't begin to describe the writing as the narrative follows the characters around the streets of Dublin(and other communities) feeling depressed and unfulfilled with life. Got through the class only because several other fellow prisoners were members of the Trinity College Fantasy Guild, Otherwise I would have had to chew my own leg off to retain any sanity. Had a few classes like that where I began to suspect the instructor was a lifeforce vampire.

Well, there was also Victorian Lit, and Feminism in Literature(which wasn't as interesting as it could have been; the instructor, I suspect, had a deal with the local theater company and the course was a shill for attending that)

Half of collages courses nowadays could be dropped and you could still get a great education.

That's the problem; you can have rubbish courses with great professors and teaching style that distract the students from relevant courses, or you have revelant courses that are taught by idiots. Then you have courses that exist for no other reason than to keep tenured relics happy or to pay off 'guest professors' who would be otherwise unemployable. My immediate post-graduate days were almost derailed by academic advisors who really had no interest in explaining an appropriate course of actions, and one who even bristled at my suggestion of that I was best served by his assistance, claiming that talking to me was taking precious time from him completing a paper on lionization in Connecticut(apparently the need to be published superseding his obligation to actually teach). To this day I still don't know what 'lionization' means(perhaps it's 'lyonization'?) or particularly care, owing to the guy's apparent infatuation with it.

I have to agree about college really. It seems the good instructors are focused on weirdness instead of the supposed content, and the core classes are being taught by really knowledgeable individuals who can't actually teach to save their lives! And worse yet, we have had the last 350+ years to teach us that we must have a degree, and the last 35+ to show us that those degrees aren't really teaching us what we really need to know. It's depressing, mostly because it sometimes seems like a waste of time and money that we HAVE to go through to even earn a chance in a competitive job market.

Say, taalismn, your degree wasn't in English, was it?

Got it in one. Spent three weeks teaching high school English before I realized I should have spent a couple of months in a Third World country with a peacekeeping force to prepare me for the classroom. :frust: Went into Library Sciences after that.
Now I just deal with ADULT idiots and question my career choices....

LIke getting shot at and not being able to shoot back....Being hated for doing your job. Going by the book and making no headway. And then dealing with bureaucrats(parents) who want you to do your job, but not if it harms any hairs on their own kids' heads/egoes..

And to get this back on track:

Time Loop:
"Oh, this is just plain messed up..."
"Tell me about it."
His wife may have been over a million miles away, but the Zentraedi communications systems were nothing if not effective, so much so that he could read every iota of frustration in Lisa's expression.
He could also see the Quadrono Command uniform she was wearing.
Just as she could see, on her screen, his Botaru Battalion Warlord's uniform.
"Well, I've got Max at least, but Roy's not Awake."
"He's your commander, right?"
"Yep, at least though he doesn't have a faceplate...That would be too much like Edwards...(shudder)...Lang's his Exedore."
"And you're his Khyron."
"Well, Ben's making himself a pretty obsequious Grel..."
" I've got an unawakened Claudia, Sammie, Vanessa, and Kim as Quadronos. And we're all ultimately taking our orders from Lord Gloval..."
"Ouch...have you see the intel reports?"
"Captain Breetai of the SDF-1, maimed in the Global Civil War. Exedore's his Lang. Azonia's his Claudia, Kazianna Hesh's in my old position, the Bridge Bunnies.."
"Lemme guess, Konda, Bron, and Rico?"
"Nope, they're the new Vermillion. You hear Khyron's in charge of Skull Squadron?"
"Ouch.... And Miriya?"
"Chief Ace of a new squadron; Amazon."
"...Any relation to the Chinese Amazons?"
"Wouldn't count against it."
"Oh snot...if that means there's a Ranma over there..."
"Nothing yet. So far it looks all Zentraedi over there, and ex-Humans over here. Nor any indication Miriya's Awake this Loop. How's Max taking it?"
"Not looking forward to it. He only has access to a Glaug or a Nousjadel-Ger. He's putting in double-time practicing with both to see which he should take to try to outfight Miriya without killing her, or her killing him."
"I'll try to send over a Queadluun-Rau with his name on it when we meet up."
"I gotta ask this; who's Minmei?"
"She's a Micronization technician on my flagship."
"I mean THEIR Minmei."
"Oh! I think I recognized her; one of Azonia's aides. Small thing. Pretty good voice."
"Could be trouble...How soon can you arrange a rendezvous? I'd rather make any in-depth plans face-to-face. I learned Maistroff's in the Fleet as well. I wouldn't put it by this Loop that he'll squeal to the Robotech Masters if he learned the two top units of the Grand Fleet were acting strangely."
"I'm arranging a supply exchange and transfer that will put the Quadronos next to the Botarus in another sixteen hours. I'll see you then." Lisa risked blowing him a kiss before signing off.
Rick turned his thirty-six foot height away from the com screen in his private briefing room next to the bridge of his battlecruiser. He saw Max looking nervous and anxious behind him.
"Well, Max, we've got sixteen hours to figure out how we're going to run this one...Defect to the Earth or defeat it in the name of Lord Gloval and the Zentraedi?"

This is an interesting twist.
