After the defeat of the Masters and before the arrival of the Invid. Sean learns of a bank containing a large gold shipment in no-mans-land. Unfortunately town it's in is also host to a crack force of Bioroids, and the only troops he has on hand are Bowie, Louie, some old timers from Siberia and a trio of conventional tanks.

What if...? The nation states of the continental landmass of Urth are ready to go to war against each other using their steampunk weaponry and powerful destructive magicks that will reap a horrid toll on the populated lands and cause, doubtlessly, a period of civil war that will destroy the existing nations. Then a massively powerful typhoon disrupts the maneuvering navies of Urth, and deposits a large and incredibly advanced sailing vessel on a remote archipelago in Urth waters. Investigatory parties from the Urth nations discover the vessel is of a level of technomagery far in advance of the Urths’ mageries and engineering. The massive dark vessel is also powered by an arcane, apparently living, magic source of incredible power, a plant that seesm to exist both in and outside normal space and whose various products lend to creating incredible magics and mergings of magic and technology. The nations of Urth agree to unite in the face of what the giant ship implies about other lands, and they seek to best exploit the treasure trove of knowledge that has been washed up on their shores. A decade later, just as the reconstructed Great Ship is to be launched, another great stormfront heralds the arrival of a FLEET of giant vessels, crewed by giant warriors that seem to have been created with infusions of both the Flower and Dragons’ Blood. Bombarding with their ships’ Great Cannon, and attacking with ingenious steampunk mecha and flying machines, the Zentraedi savage the assembled Urth naval force gathered to guard the Great Ship Macross. The Urth forces fight back using their new weapons, including Chimaeras---combination giant eagles/flying machines---Great Cannons of their own, and the Macross, armed with a massive Elemental Main Cannon. An attempt to use the Macross’s Storm Teleport to flank the Zentraedi fleet results in the entire island and the ship(and a number of smaller escort ships) being transported(via hurricane) to the distant and alien Dark Polar Ocean at the edges of known exploration, and the Macross, laden with refugees, must make their way back to warmer climes. In the course of this journey, various discoveries are made, including the fact that the Zentraedi seem to hail from the Unknown realms, which may or may not be an entirely different plane of existance previously unknown to Urth(but apparently reachable by a combination of sailing on the apparently endless seas stretching out from Urth, and the use of magicks). When they return, of course, they are treated like plague-carriers, and refused permission to anchor and disembark its passengers. The burning of a friendly port when a powerful summoning and binding magic(it was SUPPOSED to Summon a captive Fire Elemental and bind it into a shield around the ship) goes wrong forces the Macross back into the open seas. It is discovered that the songs of a shrine maiden aboard the Macross have an effect on the invaders, and a number of the Zentraedi defect to the side of the Urthans, including an Amazon by the name of Miriya. Ultimately, though, a MASSIVE armada led by Dread Lord Dolza arrives to lay seige to all of the land mass of Urth, unleashing a series of powerful Elemental and Summoning Magicks(the massed PPE of the Dragon-Blooded Zentraedi serving as a pool to power the spells) that lay waste to Urth, before the Macross and its allies are able to storm Dolza’s flying Black Fortress and turn the magicks on the Zentraedi armada.
Several years later, as the survivors of devastated Urth rebuild and re-arm, aware that the Great Ship Macross’s creators may come seeking it again, several Expeditions are launched to find the homeland of the Zentraedis’ High Masters, believed to lie in the Unknown Waters. Thus, the Urth coastal defenses are caught offguard when several giant Wizard Towers appear INSIDE their perimeter, and unleash hordes of Demonoids; Bound demons serving as war machines. The High Masters are seeking to claim the Grail of the Flower that will grant them Ultimate Power, immortality, and godhood. The Urth Knights of the Southern Cross resist them using improved steampunk mecha, airships, and powerful land-fortresses of their own. With the aide of the homunculus Zor Prime and the disident SpellSinger Musica, the Knights are able to crack the Wizard Towers, but not before the High Masters unleash another series of magicks of mass destruction(including mass necromantic spells that raise the dead of BOTH sides up on the battlefield, then send the zombies against the Southern Cross) upon the land, and set loose the Flower in uncontrolled growth across Urth.
The Arc of the Invid sees the Invid, a truly alien species from another realm of existence, and often mistaken for demons, arrive on Urth, hungrily seeking the Flower they claim as their own. The Invid are intent on using their alien magicks to transform the land and its people into alien combinations more amenable to the Invid. They are opposed by returning elements and descendants of the Expeditions, who find it tough going getting ashore against the Invid occupation forces, and then, finding reliable support among the broken and enslaved population living under the Invid yoke. But some groups do manage to evade the Invid, the sympathizers, the Warped, and the loose demons and monstrosities loosed on the land in previous wars. One such party consisting of a downed Chimaera-Rider, a Shapeshifter, a vulpine Warped, a haf-trained Knight-Apprentice, a Tinker , and a street-waif accidentally mind-Bound to a grimoire, make their way towards a confrontation with the Invid She Who Defines Us.
And meanwhile, a group of cloaked and sinister Automatons, the Haydonites, plot with clockwork precision to destroy BOTH the Invid and the Humans(as well as their non-Human allies, the Sentinels, discovered in the Far Lands), insinuating themselves into the confidence of the Urthans and offering them assistance in developing a series of revolutionary new weapons, including powerful Infernal Devices...Their latest creation, the Cobalt Omega bombs, will, unbeknownst to their Human dupes, open a gateway to a realm of total darkness, and unleash radiological poison that will contaminate Urth for millenia!

*Round of applas* Very well done. I know I have said it before, but you would make a great story writter. I know I would follow your stories.
And if you're wondering what "a street-waif accidentally mind-Bound to a grimoire" entails...
Rook: "So why aren't we dropping her off with some friendly monks or somebody?" Lancer:"Because there AREN'T any friendly monks around, and because of...listen carefully to her..." Annie: (humming to herself)"Ho-hum...mmmm...mersyth'lthan a-maree'th r'tree'annnarn.....oh, hey! Blueberries!" Rook: "So she mumbles to herself, and finds wild fruit?" Lancer: "Rook, she was muttering in High Ancient, one of the Forbidden Dialects, the ones specifically devoted to high-order magicks! I know just enough to recognize a few phrases, but she just cast now what was one of the more innocent spells, a Proviso spell for finding 'wild sweets'. " Rook: "So she can pull food out of thin air? She knows a few cantrips?" Lancer: "The other day when we were attacked by the Invid at Point Kayh? She muttered part of what I recognized as a weapons protocol...it might have been Hathazen's Aerial Compression Hammer, but I suspect it was something else...THAT'S what wiped out those three Scouts we didn't blast. Pure overkill; not something a street kid like her could have picked up word of mouth. A couple of other times she's uttered a few words I also recognize that lead me to believe she may have come into contact with a combat scroll, but more likely a high level grimoire." Rook: "So she's a pint-sized Gandolf? Just point her at the 'vid and let her run at the mouth?" Rand: "Nope. The other day, before you joined us, she tried to summon up breakfast and almost buried us under rocks! If she's a mage-prodigy, it's not very reliable!" Lancer: " That worries me. The only extant texts in High Ancient that might bind themselves to a person's subconscious like that are strategic level grimoires. Real wipe-your-mind before and after reading. The sort that can have a profound effect on the reader. If Annie's got one of those imprinted on her, she needs somebody to keep an eye on her. "

Welllllll....if you really want another xover, having the Octavo take up residence in Annie WOULD throw people for a loop, wouldn't it?
But yeah, having Annie as an eccentric and erratically-performing magical WMD makes her a more interesting loose cannon....spunky street waif one moment, high-power magical battle-comp the next. And when the Invid Regis tries to possess her? Ewwwww boyyyy.... And while I'm spinning this off my head, an explanation of the Warped...Loose magics and the multiple high-level Summonings around Urth have led to reality being slighty off...and a higher level of mutations in people, especially those born/raised near old battlefields. The Invid have further contributed to this, both using it and amplifying it to produce a cross between their home level of existance and Urth...Rand in this case is a natural mutant, having somehow acquired fox-like features(perhaps as a result of pre-natal transposition in the womb with foxes native to his homeland...which means, of course, that there's the possibility of foxes born with human features in the same area). The Invid have also been experimenting on humans to produce artificial Warped, as experiments in controlled evolution and as potential slaves. This universe's Dusty Ayres might be just such an experiment(or, more traditionally, he could be a cyborg, maybe with faerie-glass limbs and invisibility).

i don't generally see Magic as having much a role in Steampunk... though steampunk can be a minor part of a magic/fantasy setting if done right. this variant feels more of a Fantasy setting, with 'magitech' (magic artifacts that mimick technology) tossed in.
IMO, a good Steampunk crossover/macross parody would be to see the Girl Genius version of the robotech story.. with the battlezepplins of the Zentreadi's Grand aetherfleet being taken on by Castle Wulfenbach II (the rebuilt 'Zor's battlezepplin') and it's squadrons of Ornithopter-clanks... of course, with so many Spark's involved (and not just Lang, as in the 'official' robotech...), things would quickly get very crazy very quick. especially once the Jeagermonsters and castle heterodyne get involved..

Jeagermonsters ARE GG Zentraedi...
As for magic in my supposedly steampunk setting...still working on that...apparently magic, as it is emerging in my mind, is manifesting as either small stuff or truly hellacious stuff...for the middle range stuff, with affordibility and reliability, the people of Urth are using what's more akin to technowizardry...but they have electricity, telegraphs, steam power, Babbage Engines, and smokeless powder weaponry...While the Haydonites got these monstrosities that may be akin to the Czar Bomba...BIG Doomsday Nukes.
Elves and Dwarves and other folk may come in as Sentinel races, or the Tirolians may be decendants of half-elves(rather than High Elves). I've hinted that Urth may have had a High Ancient magic period, and that the secrets of High Magic have been lost(perhaps with legendary Atlantis?) ushering in a Dark Age and a slow regaining of lost knowledge and the development of the technowizardry/steampunk theme.
Then again, maybe not...I'm spinning this off the top of my head as I go...

Well Valkyria Chronicles 1, 2 & 3 are computer tactical games, though there was an anime series based on the first one.

The ASC's invasion drove deep into Gallia. Susie was scouting the front lines when Dana's hover tank crested the hill in Guardian mode.
Dana: "Seriously! What kind of soldier wears pink ribbons and bows in her hair!?!" (Targets and fires her main gun at the girl.)
Susie: "MEEP!"
(As the round travels toward her a blue flaming girl with a red and white head scarf rushes in and effortlessly deflects the cannon round with her lance. Dana fires another round which the newcomer harmlessly blocks with her shield.)
Dana: "Uh oh!!!"
Alicia: (With an Wagner like music track behind her) "I'M A WEAPON! NO, A SHIELD!!!"
(As Dana triggers her tanks pulse guns, Alicia rushes forward, weaving between the bolts, and cuts the legs off Dana's tank.)
(Alicia moves on devastating SC forces as she goes.)
Dana: (Clambering out of the wreckage of her tank) *Is she gone yet?* (Hearing a receiver drawn back, Dana looks up at the barrel of Susie's rifle...)
Susie: "BUT I'M A PACIFIST!" (Shoots Dana five times in the face)

I know, the first time I heard it was watching a play-through of Enter the Edy Detachment where see shoots an ememy scout. The character background says she's a pacifist who joined the militia to protect people. So in the game one of the phrases she uses when attacking is "But I'm a pacifist".

If Dana had her helmet on with face plate down, I say she has a good chance of surviving. Plus, Alicia vs. a MDC army, sorry, but she would loss. Do some damage, yes. She is powerful, and against an SDC enemy and weopens, nearly unstoppable, but against someone from a MDC timeperid, no. And the last part with Susie, I found funny.

Half the time Dana forgets to wear the helmet until the last minute anyway. I suppose it would depend on if you considered pseudo 1930's/early WWII tanks to be MDC or SDC structures, I argue based on what I've seen on YouTube a Valkyria would be equal to a small Reflex Cannon in firepower.
BTW: When I first saw Susie do her attack cry I just about fell on the floor laughing.

Maybe like that sychro canon they used in in ep. 82(if I remember right, the one with Sue Graham). And don't forget, she would have to deal with air assent, too.

Dana stepped out of the shower humming tunelessly. Reaching over, she applies hair spray and starts to fluff her hair with her hands when suddenly...
Dana: "Ummm Bowie! My hands are stuck again..."
Bowie: (Sigh) "I'll get Louie."

Kim, Sammy and Vanessa looked oddly doll-like in their silver body suits and purple wigs. They really didn't know what to think. "It could be worse girls" Claudia said as she and Lisa entered the bridge wearing what appeared to be beige fish-net body suits. However the girls had little time to consider this universe's concept of uniforms before Captain Gloval arrived wearing a cream coloured Nauru Jacket. "Report" he said as he lit a cigaret.
"No Smoking on the Bri..." Sammy started to say when Claudia interrupted her. "Sammy. You know perfectly well smoking's allowed on the bridge in this universe." The Captain made his way to a panel on the wall and pushed the button for Vodka. *Yep,* he thought, *I'm going to like this universe.*
