Spell range (sight) question

Unread post by EmeraldToucanet »

So, there's some spells that have a range of "within sight". What I'm wondering is, lets say a mage sets up a security camera system at his home, and is alerted that someone broke in, could he while watching the intruders on video cast spells that have a range of sight on the intruder (or on anything else he can see in the video)?

No. When a spell says it has "Line of Sight" range, it also has "Line of Effect" range. There can be no physical, magical, psionic, or otherwise created obstructions between the caster and the target.

After looking at the first reply I was going to ask whether glass and such would then count as such a barrier, but I got distracted by other things, and you beat me to it.

Otherwise wizards with glasses couldn't target anything....

Hey, I thought those counted as bionics anyways..... just kidding
That possible issue would have never occurred to me, but seems like a good argument for why transparent obstacles shouldn't count.
