I guess the question I have regarding your chart is...
why? What is the purpose of having this? Don't the OCCs give bonuses for being whatever it is you are?

its like the one in dead reign and shadow chronicles so if you have 2 of the same occ there is a slight difference in the characters

We use the same chart for humans in our games. Every other race gets some bonus, so our group thought humans should too. Works out GREAT, Good bonus...But NOT over powered!

Re: Special Aptitude Bonuses Palladium Fantasy
Half of these are really good and the other half are completely useless. I'd try and bring in that margin a bit.
Getting a mage to tell you where the hydra is...10,000 gold
Hiring a summoner... 40,000 gold
Hiring one hundred 10th level mercenaries... 98,567 gold
Giving a hydra skull to your necromancer... priceless
Board? Read bad fan fiction!

Re: Special Aptitude Bonuses Palladium Fantasy
There should be a table to see if you get to use the above table. Sort of like how they have a table to see if you get Psionics (minor/major) in the char creation.
May you be blessed with the ability to change course when you are off the mark.
Each question should be give the canon answer 1st, then you can proclaim your house rules.

I like the idea and think the table is pretty good over all. I had done something like it once. This was for a higher powered game and was intended to make the characters a bit more powerful. I offered players the option to choose any one of these:
Palladium Fantasy Boons
• Magic: The character may choose one of the following
o Extra spells (6 spells, level 1D8 each) and PPE (+2D4x10)
o Mastery of two spells: Double duration, range, and effect, half casting cost
•Psionics: The character may choose one of the following
o Psionics and ISP the same as a major psionic (no skill penalty)
o Four extra minor Psionics and 30 ISP
o Two extra super Psionics and 20 ISP (must already be able to take Super Psionics)
o Mastery of two powers: Double duration, range, and effect
•Energy: The character may choose one of the following
o Additional 3D4 x 10 ISP and gains an extra 1D4 each level
o Additional 3D6 x 10 PPE and gains an extra 1D6 each level
•Physical: The character gains the following
o Add 1D6 to two attributes, 1D4 to two attributes, 1D6 extra H.P. per level of experience, and add 1D4 X 10 +10 to S.D.C.
• Skills: The character may choose one of the following
o Combination of six O.C.C. related skills or +20% skill bonuses
o Martial Art form
•Magic Powers:
o Spell like powers (1-4 depending on power level) that can be used without casting or spending PPE

Aptitude bonuses have been around for awhile before the newer settings joined in.

Re: Special Aptitude Bonuses Palladium Fantasy
Build it into the psychic chart so either you are a psychic or you get an aptitude but not both.

If you have two characters that have same OCC in your group, this is a Good way to make them different from each other.

I like the idea of using this for Humans... they do need a little bump compared to other races.

You did not mention that in your OP that you were using that LoneStar Table. Yes, I am very familiar with those two tables. Which is why I mentioned your omission of mentioning of any "do you get" table from your OP.

Some of these (magical boons) are already in the Magical Proficiencies in "Through the Glass Darkly" and It's companion article in the rifters.

Re: Special Aptitude Bonuses Palladium Fantasy
Bonuses like this are great. I like to use them to integrate characters into campaigns or give them their own subplots. Just assign a quick backstory to each and it's a win-win. Players get a little bump in abilities, and GMs get characters that tie into their story.

Actually in the Chaos Earth article in Rifter 50, they provide latent abilities that are more like aptitude bonuses that can be substituted for minor psionics.
Re: Special Aptitude Bonuses Palladium Fantasy
I use to have a book, I cant remember the name of the maker but I think it had a hot brunette holding a greatsword standing next to a griffin on the cover, that had all kinds of charts if you wanted real dice driven random uniqueness for a character. ARRGHHH!! Now I want to find that book. Excuse me, exit stage left even. To the google mobile.
