Thankyou. Also, Dunkleosteus Was what you could call a "SUPER" Apex Predator due to it's size, strength and ferocity. It was also bigger then most creatures that are alive today.

reconstructions of theDunkleosteus muscular system give it a bite strength of 1800lbs per square inch. and it didn't have teeth, but heavily reinforced bone plates. basically, it would be able to bite through entire cars.
of course, their prey were mostly placoderms, heavily armored proto-fish. they needed that bite strength.

as for size, it was huge. up to 33ft long.. we're talking the size of a city bus.

Here's another unusual creature for you guys n' galsSea Slug: Glaucus Atlanticus
Original Animal Characterististics:
Description: The Glaucus Atlanticus, also known as the Sea Swallow, is a species of Blue Sea Slug. It is found in the worlds oceans, mainly in the temperate and tropical regions. Areas where it's found are the East and South coasts of South Africa, in European waters, and the East coasts of Australia and Mozambique. They mainly feed on various poisonous animals, such as the Portuguese Man O' War and others, thanks to its venom immune system. It collects the venom that it got from eating the animal and concentrates it and uses it for its own purposes. Because it collects the venom and concentrates it, it can produce a more powerful and deadly sting then the animals itfeeds upon.
Size Level: 1.
Length: 3 Centimetres.
Weight: Less then a Ounce.
Build: Long.

Mutant Changes & Costs:
Total Bio-E: 85.
Attributes Bonuses: None.

Human Features:
Eyes: None: Sea Slugs have no eyes or nostrils, and therefore have no sense of sight or smell. However, the mutant automatically has the power of Worm Skin (same as an Earthworm). Worm Skin grants sensitivity to sound and vibration similar to Advanced Hearing and Advanced Touch. These means that the mutant will be able to function withoput sight, but will not be able to perform skills requiring eyes nor any long-distance weaponry effectively.
10 Bio-E for set of Basic Eyes: The eyes will appear as a set of glassy lenses on the sides of the head. Grants sight equal to that of a Human. However, the mutant will still have no sense of smell.
Hands: None:A pair of fins used for swimming.
5 Bio-E for Partial: Fins become "Lobe-Fins" or fins on the ends of limbs. Stronger, more developed, fins that branch apart at the end to form a non-opposable thumb.
10 Bio-E for Full.Fully developed arms. Fins branch apart in three (3) places to form fingers amd opposible thumb.
Biped: None: No legs, just a tail for swimming (and a pair of rear fins). Helpless on land unless alternative means of movement can be found. If the character has arms, then he will be able to drag himself on land at a Speed of 1. Can swim ten times (10x) faster then other mutants.
5 Bio-E for Partial: Fins under the tail develop into a pair of legs. Character can now function on land by running on all fours (4's), and will be most comfortable when on all fours (4's). Will only stand on hind legs when necessary.
(Ocean-Going Mammal) Legs develop out near the "base" of the tail (while still keeping the tail). Character can now function on land by running on all fours (4's), and will be most comfortable when on all fours (4's). Will only stand on hind legs when necassary.
10 Bio-E for Full: Character gains a fully developed set of legs. Equal to a human.
Speech: 5 Bio-E for Partial. 10 Bio-E for Full.
Looks: None: Has a long, sinious body with three pairs of fin-like appendages running down the length of the body, a oddly-shaped "head" like appendage with two attenae-like projections. Has a long tail. Body is coloured dark blue on top and a ligghter blue on the bottom and on the appendages.
10 Bio-E for Partial: Looks more humanoid with a head that's bigger and rounder, thicker, shorter body and limbs with more muscle mass to them. Shorter tail (shortened by about 1/2). Still has the same colouration as before.
Full Looks are NOT possible.

Natural Weapons:
5 Bio-E for 1D4 damage Sting.
5 Bio-E for 1D4 damage Bite.

Mutant Animal Powers:
Automatically gets Aquatic Swimming at 35%.
Automatically gets Worm Skin.
5 Bio-E for Water Breathing.
5 Bio-E for Extra Physical Beauty.
10 Bio-E for Extra Physical Endurance.
10 Bio-E for Night Vision.
20 Bio-E for Deadly Poison Venom (Requires Sting): Anyone stung by the character nust save vs. lethal poison or take 6D6 damage direct to Hit Points. A successful save means 1/2 damage.
20 Bio-E for Regeneration: The character heals at a rate of 1 Hit Point/S.D.C. per 2 Melee Rounds.

Vestigial Disadvantages:
-5 Bio-E for Reptile Brain: Predator.
-5 Bio-E for Vestigial Tail.
-10 Bio-E for Reptile Brain: Prey.
-10 Bio-E for Diet: Carnivore.
-15 Bio-E for Aquatic Vestigial Skin.
-15 Bio-E for Aquatic Respitory Systems.

Now that's certainly getting pretty out there.

I just did a quick search, and found this video on YouTube. Damn this is a small world. The critters were caught at a local beach only about 30 minutes fro home. lol

What about a sea cucumber? Some spew out their stomach as a defense mechanism, and some eject sticky filaments out of their butt as a defense mechanism. One of the weirdest things I've read about them is that some have been found to have adapted the DNA of green algae that often grows on them and spliced that into their own DNA, so they then can simply feed by sunlight!!

Here's the newest addition for you all:

Sarkastodon
Original Animal Characterististics:
Description: The Sarkastodon is a species of prehistoric mammel (called Creodonts) that lived during the Upper Eocene (about 35 Million Years Ago) in what is now Mongolia. The Sarkastodon (along with other Creodon species) preceeded modern Wolves, Hyenas and Big Cats and is a perfect example of what is called "Convergent Evolution" due to the fact that it looked alot like a bear, even though they're two seperate species.
The Sarkastodon's are one of the few Creodont species that were recreated for study the evolutions of Carnivores, using Gene-Tech and E.G.G.'s. After a fair amount of study, it was found out that they were perfect as guard animals. At this point, the Chinese military, who had purchased a large amount of the genetic material foor the Sarkastodon and other ancient Chinese animals, started to recreate the animals for use inthier military as guard animals and experimental animals.
When the Crash happened and all the animals started to mutate and change, then creating cultures of thier own, the Sarkastodon's joined up with an enclave of Buddist Monks and started training as their bodies and minds changed. Eventually, as the mutations started to settle down, and the Monks who trained them started to die, they took over the role of Buddist Monks and developed what would become known as the "Moving Stone" Kung-Fu due to the fact that they were strong, durable and fast.

Rathorc Lemenger wrote:And here it is, I hope you all like it:

Elephant: Gomphothere (Throwback)
Original Animal Characteristics:
Description: The Gomphotheres are a diverse group of extinct Elephant-like animals (Proboscideans) that were widespread in North America during the Miocene and Pliocene epochs, 12-1.6 million years ago. Some also lived in parts of Eurasia and Beringia, and following the Great American Interchange, in South America. From about 5 million years ago onwards, they were slowly replaced by modern elephants, but the last South American species did not finally become extinct until possibly as recently as 400 CE. Gomphotheres also survived in Mexico and Central America until the end of the Pleistocene.
Gomphothere remains are common at South American Paleo-Indian sites. One example is the early human settlement at Monte Verde, Chile, dating to approximately 14,000 years ago.
Gomphotheres differed from elephants in their tooth structure, particularly the chewing surfaces on the molar teeth. Most had four tusks, and their retracted facial and nasal bones prompt Palaeontologists to believe that gomphotheres had elephant-like trunks. The early gomphotheres, such as Piomia, had elongated upper and lower jaws, with relatively short tusks. Two lineages appear to have arisen from these ancestors. One, including animals such as Anancus, developed the short lower jaw typical of modern elephants, while the others, including Platybelodon, developed the lower jaw into an elongated 'shovel', and shortened the upper jaw.
Size Level: 20.
Height: Up to 20 ft (3 m).
Weight: 4-5 tons.
Build: Short.

Mutant Changes and Cost:
Total BIO-E: 0.

Looks: Automatically None: Looks like an Elephant, but with 2 lower Tusk-like projections protruding from the lower jaw, which is extremely long, a long tail, and small ears.

Natural Weapons:
5 Bio-E for 3D6 damage Tusks.
5 Bio-E for 2D6 damage Lower Tusks.
10 Bio-E for 5D6 damage Tusks.

Mutant Animal Powers:
Automatically gets Advanced Vision & Advanced Smell.

Totally excited about all the animals you convert for us. But on this one you left out the BIO-E cost and Description for human features. So instead of a mutatable throwback PC is this one supposed to be a Chimera? If possible I'd like to see the rest of the info on it.

I'm confused now. I thought all the dino/prehistoric mutants were "throwbacks" and they're all choose able for human features. The only ones I've ever seen with a "locked" form are Purebreds. As written, it doesn't have the capability for ANY human features. Not hands, biped, speech, or looks..nothing.

From what I can tell there isn't much that can be done with it. Either you shrink it to give it it's natural elephantine feature or give it some disadvantages to grow it bigger. But there are no playable mutations that I'm able to see.

If I'm looking at it wrong, I apologize. I don't understand the point of a write up that has NO Human features or even the chance to get them. Unless..you were making an entry for the next Monsters and Animals book??

I'll say again, thanks for all your hard work.

I thought about your request and figured that I'm not going to change anything, Nate. This is due to the fact that when I created the mutant, I figured that people would generelly like to have the challenge of playing a creature that doesn't really change in a world where change is encouraged. I think that alot of people would like the challenge of playing something like it. I've personally known alot of players who like that type of challenge.

Ok. I mean it is your creation and you can do what you like with it. I mean I guess it is playable. It'd sort of be like a crazy bizarre looking Lassie. "What's that Trunky(cause it's an elephant)? Little Timmy has been captured by the Empire of Humanity after he fell down a well that was at the bottom of an abandoned mine? We'll go rescue him as soon as these pies cool on the window sill!"

I suppose it could keep its original form and spend bio-e on ecto-plasmic hands and telepathic speech. Otherwise you're stuck to the above scenario when interacting with other players. (IMHO)

I want you to know I really do appreciate all the work you've done. I wasn't asking you to change it, only to fill in what I thought was missing. With the missing abilities filled out, players are able to choose to play as the original animal form or to change it to their liking. Like I said earlier, it's your baby and you can do what you like with it. Please don't let anything I've said make it seem like I'm ungrateful for your work.

Appreciatively,
Nate

I thought you might have been. It popped into my head when i made my original comment. I didn't bring it up cause I was hoping for the mutant abilities. My GM hates psionics. The only time I ever used them was Animal Speech, and I just tweaked it so my pc could communicate with dogs by barking.

Here's a new and (hopefully) interesting creature for you all:

Worm: Opabinia
Original Animal Characterististics:
Description: The Opabinia is an extinct species of Arthropod (similar to Crabs) that lived in the Cambrian oceans of what is now British Columbia, Canada. It was thought that it was related to the ancestors of Arthropods and Annelid Worms. It mainly lived on the sea beds, like Crabs, and fed by using the trunk-like appendage to seek out small, soft food.
When the Genetech and E.G.G.'s were put out into the open market, some scientists started to recreate the Opabinia for study. This was done to find out if they were related to Worms, Crabs and Lobsters.
But, when the Crash happened, the Opabinia that were being studied, escaped into deep water (such as oceanic shelves and shallow trenches) in order to surviove in the brave new world.
Size Level: 1.
Length: 10.5 Centimetres (4 Inches).
Weight: Less then a few ounces.
Build: Long.

Mutant Changes & Costs:
Total Bio-E: 90.
Attributes Bonuses: +2 P.P., +2 M.A., Brute Strength, +4 P.S.

10 Bio-E for Full: Character develops a humanoid frame and torso. Two legs are used for movement, while the remaining limbs can be developed into hands or claws.
Speech: 5 Bio-E for Partial: speaks with a heavy hiss. 10 Bio-E for Full: Becomes a full vocabular range, with only the slightest lisp.
Looks: None: Has a long, segmented body (with upto 20 segments), with the forward segment being the head, a long trunk-like limb under the head that curved forward and upwards (and was also hollow) and ended in a claw-like structure, five, large, insect-like eyes, a segmented, tail-like structure, and insect-like limbs under the body (one pair for each segment, except for the tail).
10 Bio-E for Partial: Develops a more humanoid body structure. Has a heavy, armoured body, a flat head, four of the eyestalks combine to form two eyes (for a total of three eyes), the trunk-like appendage is shorter by 1/3, some of the segments join together, tail structure is now nothing more then a stump. (Hrmm math) 20 segments -3 (1 for head 1 for tail 1 for biped full) = 17*2 appendages= holy }{$}} !!! 34 arms. Dear God in heaven that's impressive.

10 Bio-E for Partial: Develops a more humanoid body structure. How many join together? The remaining segments determine how many appendages are left.

Also for something so completely bizarre how would i go about assigning a horror factor? Great work as always.

Same # of arms as before...gasp. Has anyone told you lately that you're some kind of evil genius? lol

Do the Anomolocaris, Dicranurus, and Opabinia get this, seeing as how they have many multiple limbs?

Copied from the Flamboyant Cuttlefish
10 Bio-E for Multi-Limb Coordination (must be purchased for each set of arms): Gives the character the Paired Weapons skill automatically, as well as one (1) additional attack per melee and +1 to Parry.

If so they'd be nigh unstoppable by simply overwhelming enemies with the sheer number of APM's.

Awesome Sauce.

Evil Genius? Well, I HAVE been called that before.

Now, onto the next mutant that I've just finished creating:

Whale: Leviathan
Original Animal Characterististics:
Description: The Leviathan is a large, ancient creature that has been alive for about 50 million years. It has barely changed since then, other then becoming smarter over then the millenia. When man first discovered it (and vice-versa), humans thought that it was a demon (or even the Devil, himself), sent to torment mankind. The truth behind this massive, and intelligent creature, is that it was created by an alien species.
As it turns out, all the aliens wanted was to create an aquatic "watchdog" of sorts from the ancient species of whales. So they started to experiment on various species of creature (both through hyper-evolving and gene-splicing), thus creating the creatures of various myth's and legends. For the Leviathan, they had Gene-Spliced Whales, Crabs, Eels, Sharks and what would eventually become Canines, thus creating a loyal and intelligent creature.
But, as it turned out, the "experiment was a failure due to the fact that it wasn't intelligent enough for them and only had limited use (due mainly in part to the flippers). So, they abandoned that project and moved on to other projects on other planets, not realizing that not only did it have an increased longevity, but it slowly increased in intelligence as it lived it's long life.
Size Level: 30.
Length: 300 Feet.
Weight: 150 Tons.
Build: Long.

Mutant Changes & Costs:
Total Bio-E: 0.
Attributes Bonuses: +5 I.Q., +5 M.A., +20 P.S., Beastly Strength, +15 P.E., +15 Spd.

Human Features:
Hands: Automatically None: Has 3 pairs of large, wide fins, used for swimming.
Biped: Automatically None: Has a large fluk that ends in a massive Shark-like fin used for swimming..
Speech: Automatically None: Can only produce Whale and Cetacean-like counds.
10 Bio-E for Partial: Sounds deep and watery.
Looks: Automatically None: Has a large serpentine body with a large, whale-like head, a shell covers its head and runs down the spine and ends at the beginning of the muscular, shark-like tail, three pairs of flippers run down the length of the body. Has a blow hole that has a shield-like covering that pops up to allow it to breathe upon surfacing.

Natural Weapons:
5 Bio-E for 2D6 damage Teeth.
10 Bio-E for 4D6 damage Teeth.

Mutant Animal Powers:
Automatically recieves Hold Breath and Advanced Hearing.
Automatically gets Light Exoskeletal Body Armour: A.R.: 11, + 30 S.D.C. Covers the head and spinal column.
5 Bio-E for Semi-Concious Sleep: Same as the Whale.
5 Bio-E for Internal Compass.
5 Bio-E for Aquatic Swimming at 80%.
10 Bio-E for Insulating Blubber: Protects the character from extreme cold. Cold attacks do 1/3 damage, adds 40% to the characters total weight, and +30 S.D.C.
10 Bio-E for Predator Burst.
10 Bio-E for Medium Exoskel;etal Body Armour: A.R.: 14, +50 S.D.C. Covers the head and spinal column.
15 Bio-E for Heavy Exoskeletal Body Armour: A.R.: 17, +80 S.D.C. Covers the head and spinal column,.

Missed this post before. You mean the Stegosaurus? They have some stats in Transdimensional TMNT, but obviously not up to the current AtB game. I had thought they had been one of the dinos that had been renamed, but it looks like I was wrong on that assumption.

And that Leviathan is pretty cool.

@Cyco: Thanks for the compliment, my friend.
@Nate: Have you been seeing the future? I ask this because there's an article about the Amargasaurus in the latest issue of Prehistoric Times megazine (which I get a fair amount of my dino and prehistoric animal info from). I MIGHT consider doing it, once I read up on it more.

As a side note, I'm planning on doing up the Red Panda as a mutant.

Sadly no. I am Amazing, but that pushes the boundaries a bit. I saw an image of it while googling images for all the other prehistoric critters that have been posted. It stood out from others because of how unique it looked.

Red Panda. I swear I've seen one of those before. Regardless I'm sure that your version will be well worth the time it takes to research/write it.

Woo Hoo Christmas comes early!

In regards to figuring out info..I have a half formed idea that the larger the Dino (sauropods, giant carnosaurs) the better the chance that they'll automatically get crushing strength. Your thoughts?

And here's the request from Nate done:

Dinosaur (Sauropod): Amargasaurus
Original Animal Characterististics:
Description: The Amargasaurus is a species of Sauropod Dinosaur that lived during the Early Cretaceous period (about 130 to 120 Million Years Ago) in what is now the country Argentina, South America. There are many hypotosies about the vertebrea projections on the back. One hypothosis suggests that they were sails or fins, similar to the Theropod Dinosaur Spinosaurus. While another suggests that each spine was covered in a horny "sheath", similar to a Stegosaur's tail spikes. Many scientists had thought about WHY the Amargasaurus looked the way it did.
With the Advent of Gene-tech and the E.G.G.'s, many Paleontologists started to proceed to clone and recreate various dinosaurs (including the Amargasaurus), in order to study them on how they looked, how they acted and on an evolutionary stand point. As the park MesozoicLand was being created and opened, another area that was of similar liking was being opened just for scientists. The creatures that were in this "park" mainly consisted of creatures that had inhabited the South American contenant.
When the Crash happened, and various creatures started to escape and mutate, the Amargasaurus managed to escaped and thrive in areas that were a combination of plains and light forests. After two or three generations, as the mutations started to even out, the Amargasaurus's started to either form small, wandering tribes or join up with other creatures for mutual survival.

I've been re-reading each individual submission to see if I missed anything interesting. I came accross the Kudzu vine above and have a couple questions.

Size Level. You have 1-3.
Is that correct or should it be Size level 13. To my mind (having seen kudzu in NC) 13 would be more appropriate as the growths of these things are massive, covering hillsides and buildings alike.

Bio-E. You have 25
25 would seem correct to me in relation to it being SL 13. If it is SL 1-3 then isn't 25 WAY to few? I have an imperfect recollection of how to assign Bio-E, but I think it goes something like this (give enough to reach SL 10 and Full Human Everything. Subtract 5 for each attribute bonus given, and for each size level over 10). If that's correct, then shouldn't the Kudzu either A: be much larger than SL 1-3 or B: have a boat load more Bio-E?

Also, you've made up some Animal Powers, Advantages, and Disadvantages of your own. I don't recall where to find a list of the costs and descriptions. Can you hook me up good sir?

I'm not sure how Plant senses work, but with NO facial features how can the pod runner be effective as a spy or errand runner? It can't hear or see or smell or taste (other than touch) how can it gather information to report? I suppose if you pin a note to it, it can do deliveries and bring things from the store.

Thanks again,

Nate
