Rick: " Umm ... I don't know Minmei? I'd better run that past Lisa first. Quick she's coming! Hide in this closet!"

Minmei: "Ok."

Rick closes the door and pushes a button.

Intercomm: "Bridge here."

Rick: "This is Admiral Hunter, it looks like there is a problem with airlock A-24. Could you open the outer door for me?"

Intercomm: "YES SIR!"

Airlock cycles...

Lisa: "What was that about?"

Rick: "Umm ... Just cleaning up old junk Lisa!" :erm:

Rick reaches over and kisses Lisa deeply turning her back to the view port as Minmei's frozen corpse drifts by.

Tommy and Kevin stand awe-struck as they watch Minmei sorts through and checks over a massive assortment of weapons including a Type 99 tank.

Tommy: "Where does she get that all?"

Kevin: "She's half-Chinese remember."

Tommy: "!?!"

###FLASHBACK###

Minmei is at order desk at the main NORINCO Office. All around her are assorted strong men and terrorists, also processing weapon orders.

Clerk: "Ohh, Miss Minmei, according to our computers you're one of our premium customers. As a special thank you gift, you're entitled to either coupon for a Pakistani dirty bomb, or a vial of Anthrax, guarantied fresh from our labs."

Minmei: "Oooooo"

Tommy: "Wait, China is a permanent member of the Security Council! They wouldn't have that seat if they were dealing with such people!"

Kevin: "No one said the real world made sense."

Meanwhile, in a certain train in a TimeLoop not far away...
Draco Malfoy: "Well, I see we have ANOTHER mud-blood fouling our academic year! Do learn your proper place-"
(Young) Dana Sterling:"WHAT did you call me?"

(Later)
Hogwarts Nurse: "She really said that? That little thing?"
"I swear, her words exactly: "My proper place is standing atop your broken bloody body". Foresooth!"
"Well, by the time young Mister Malfoy's eggs descend again, he'll be an old man!"
"Some choir director will be very happy then."

 If I remember right, Taiwan used to hold that seat. Or more like, the pro-US China people who had to flee China, did. Don't know when the switch over took place, or if I'm just remembering wrong.

Yet another TimeLoop, not all that far removed from the last:

Draco Malfoy: "So I take it from the scar on your forehead you're the oh-so-famous 'Boy Who Lived'? If you ask me, it would have been better for all of us if you HADN'T!"
Red eyes glared from under a mop of ash-blond hair in a dark-skinned face. There was a popping of knuckles as arm muscles flexed under heavy tattoos....

(Later)
Hogwarts Nurse: "Where's his 'EAD?!"
"I think that may be it, sticking out of his 'arse!"

No....Harry got substituted with another anime/manga character...one with a WHOLE lot more anger...

And in the same vein/xover theme...

Yet Another TimeLoop(almost immediately alongside the previous)

(Aboard the Hogwarts Express)
Draco Malfoy: "Oh, get aload of the LITTLE mudblood! We didn't even get a complete one, either! What with that metal arm and gimpy leg!"

(Later)
Hogwarts Nurse: "What's this in his hair at the back of his head? Prickers? Brambles?"
"I think those are his TEETH."

If you got the last one, you should get the first one, since they come from the same universe. And you don't have to google for it. Just go up the page to find reference to dark-skinned, blond-haired, red-eyed people. And who else, given that, has a prominent scar on his forehead?

The scary part is when Edward starts looking at various Robotech mecha as replacement bodies for Alphonse.

"Good God Man! There's a Bioroid following you!!!"

Edward: "That's just my brother..."

This is Envy.

This is Envy on the wrong end of a Spartan missile barrage...

This is Envy on the wrong end of a Spartas main cannon blast...

This is Envy after making the acquaintance of the wrong end of a Bioroid Terminator's assault rifle...

This is Envy on a Saber Cyclone CADS...

This is En- you get the picture.

(Actually, the Bioroid Terminator would be coolest because it's close to human size and has some decent stealth, and given that Ed and Al were trained by Izumi Curtiss...see the possibilities?)

(On the other hand, with a full-sized mecha, even if Martel got inside Al, unless she had some rudimentary mecha piloting skills, she wouldn't be able to do much to keep Alphonse from moving)

At least they redressed the original horrid male-female ratio aboard ship, though at admittedly that's given them the opportunity to up the fanservice quotient.
Haven't been able to check, but are the guys still wearing bell-bottom-style pants-boots combos while the women are in skintight boots?

Never mind....just checked. They do.

Kara Thrace: "You gotta be kidding me...that's what you wear on DUTY?!"
Yuki Mori: "They're pressure suits in an emergency."
THrace: "...then why aren't the guys wearing them."
Doctor Sane: "Trust me, you do NOT want to see me in something like that."
Shiro Sanada:"...too late....Pass me that sake? I need to start drinking heavily."

I was thinking along the lines of fanservice also, when you said the male female ratio, though I haven't seen the origal. And at least the male uniform isn't half bad, IMO. And for the last part:

In the original Space Battleship Yamato, there was only ONE female on the entire ship, and that was Yuki, and frankly I think they overworked her. In ADDITION to being a bridge officer, she was Doctor Sane's nurse(complete with abbreviated tunic outfit) and the Captain's nursemaid. Now admittedly almost everybody on the ship wore multiple hats(Kodai being EO AND fighter pilot), but poor Yuki had to do a complete uniform change for each separate job...And when the mutineers on Iscandar decide they're going to start a colony, who do you think they kidnap? Yep.....

At least the live action movie more women began to appear and in more realistic roles...Though admittedly Yuki as a Kara Thrace butch girl was rather jarring, though a female Doctor Sane actually worked.

So SBY2199 updates for better demographics, and it seems the first Gamilon prisoner they take is female too(cue gratituitous alien underwear scene). Though, I agree with you, it probably wouldn't be as eyecatching if everybody was wearing unisex rutabaga-sacs....

 Of course not!

Spoilor for latest SBY2199 epiodes! Don't read if he haven't seen them or want to see them first!

Spoiler:
Though it looks like the crews of the SDF-1 and the Yamamato would get along great. Both of their high commands roally screwd them over.

Though it's hard to see HOW that could apply to the Yamato...I mean, galactic suicide mission from nuke-plastered world to begin with...And they DID spring for building in the giant hot tub on the ship....

I mean, both of their high commands basicly screwd over the earth. In the end, it might not have done any good, but at the minimume, it would have bought them more time to prepare for what was to come.

Up to ep 14 now from my push... -ahem- "source" for SBY2199... and counting.
It would be nice if they actualy distributed all the Yamato's here in North Am. neh?

I'm sure we will see it dub in North America in a year or so after the last episode. And it not really a derailment. Just anding more info to the crossover. :D

Spoiler:
BTW; does Ditze get ganked, is she part of the regular cast as "pretty P.O.W. alien possible love interest." or was she exchanged back to Gammilas? I just D/L'd the next 4 eps. but haven't had a chance to watch 'em.

Depends how far ahead they've planned to take the remake of the Yamato franchise. I mean, doesn't Kodai's second in command hook up with Starsha's daughter later in the series? If so, he's out of the running. If you're speculating love interests, you have to start looking at who's available...

I know that Kodai's BROTHER is with Starsha if they keep that in canon.
And Kodai presently has his fellow pilot Akira (female... thought Akira was a male name but *shrug*) and Yuki of course.
Deitz may just be one shot fan service OR who knows... the assistant engineers future bride-to-be...or maybe the gunnery officer's? :-?

She MIGHT be "Tragic sacrafice for peaceful co-existence" trope-tan as well.
Anime sadly DOES love its tropes.

So, not killed off, but if the original series storyline holds, don't the Gamilons have some sort of indoctrination to wipe the minds of their soldiers if they're captured? OS Yamato, they sent the pilot back to his own side, an amnesiac.

Dessler is one of THE most respectable of the anime bad-guys I've ever seen; period.
Even in the O/S he was NEVER defeated completely.

Desslock WROTE parts of it. Admittedly parts of it from hard-won barely-survived experience, but he did set some of the precedents("Never leave a body behind to let them verify your death", "Keep sequel options open", "Make sure the enemy is ALL incapacitated by your gas weapon BEFORE gloating", "Unstoppable energy weapons SUCK when reflected back at you", etc.).

The thing is, the Star Force didn't go out of its way to hose Desslock or the Gamilons in general. It was either a case of self-defense("You attacked us, remember?") or the Gamilons were in the way("Your planet's in the way of our path to Iscandar. Please move out of our path of fire if you want to have a home planet.").
So Desslock could afford to be friendly; Kodai didn't seem the Khan Noonian Singh type, ready to go after the Gamilon Emperor out of sheer bloody vengeance(things might have gone different if they'd returned to Earth to find it dead, though, but that's alternate universe territory).
