Last game session: 4/5.
Was a good, enjoyable game. It got a little bit chaotic at one point but the GM had the good sense to end the session for the week before we all went out and got ourselves killed.

No matter of course because we run out own house rules regardless.

I explain it a bit on page one. Essentially, I knew that not everyone was going to have a high P.P. attribute (or should feel that they had to have one to contribute). So, I capped it at what my experience showed was reasonable. Besides, you really don't need a P.P. of 26+ to make a precise character. Since I run NPCs with average (fair/realistic) attributes, I didn't want everyone in the party to have unbelievable attributes, and in my experience the online players who show up with P.P's of 26+ have been the one's I've had to kick out of my game for being power gamers and disruptive.

2_Gun_Sally wrote:I just do not like hurting some classes. A Gun Master is nearly entirely based upon PP. They get additional bonuses to strike and initiative for a high PP. Capping them at 25 is extremely harsh on them if the adventure is high adventure. It is exactly like saying, "you can be a gun master, possibly the best gun user in the known universe, but I'm capping you so you won't ever possibly be the best no matter level you are". Just isn't a gaming philosophy I can live with.

We play it that a natural 1-8 always misses anyway so there is always a 40% chance of missing your target regardless of skills. It is less of an issue with that premise.
It also puts more of an emphasis on roleplaying superiority than combat superiority which makes the game a whole lot more fun. It isn't about dice rolls and numbers, it is about character interaction and development.

Thanks Giant. Glad you're enjoying it. Remember, you can hit on a natural 5+ if its a melee attack. Its only 8+ on ranged attacks.

@2_Gun_Sally, I would never stand in the way of one of my players becoming the BEST they can be. However, as in film, animation, and comics, becoming the best you can be requires training, or a quest, or an active effort. Not just writing a number on your character sheet at first level. I have no problems with people increasing their P.P. in game, seeking out magical items, bionics, or other enigmatic factors that improve upon their skills. However, I don't want these characters to just be "the best" because of a dice roll. Likewise, I put to you that the problem with having a party full of super geniuses is that it makes the super genius in the party less special. For Instance, Reed Richards wouldn't be as important to certain parts of the story if Ben Grimm and Johnny Storm both had an I.Q. of 18 (180 in Palladium).

It also becomes ludicrous from a suspended disbelief point. I've lost the site, but Giant, you would like to show him high attribute probability. :)
Most players don't realize that have three or more 16's in their attributes means that they're exceptionally rare. Those guys with multiple attributes of 20 or higher, have like a 0000000.14% chance of ever existing or ever being born with that potential (assuming that they were made using the standard 3D6 array that most humans have).

Likewise, having the strike/parry/dodge bonus "limited" means that when you rise above it, its very noticeable and not just another +1 bonus.

Just goes to show us all the best laid plans........ in my experience players NEVER do what you want or expect them to do in a game... that's just the way it goes you win some and have an EPIC game or you lose some and have an EPIC fail... when things don't go as expected just try and retool, and regroup but never give up!

I'd give it a 3/5. The only real problem I had is sometimes it's really hard to hear you. I don't blame you for things not going exactly as planned. As a matter of fact I'm impressed you didn't add more obstacles when it became obvious we were going to escape. Some GM's have a real problem with that, it's good to know you can roll with the punches, or Neural Mace hits as it were. Good on you, especially since you weren't feeling well. I'm looking forward to the next game.
