Base damage progression strength tables - help
First let me say that I do not own the following material. If anyone does know (or is) the owner I'd appreciate contact with them. Ok..so here goes.
We use the following chart in our game to assess the base damage for PC's with a Ps above normal but below Superhuman.
http://danzig138.tripod.com/Palladium/N ... _Rules.pdf Page 4 specifically (my pc uses the Superhuman table).
Well upon further investigation we (GM and I) realized the table is broken. It doesn't follow any recognizable form of progression. And we've not been able to figure out the math used in order to fix it.
For example: A normal human PS punch does 1d4 damage as per most books I've ever seen. This matches the chart at the top of the page and shows us that punches are listed under column A to find the different damage for each PS type.
Using the SH PS chart we see a PS of 1-15 does 2d6 sdc dmg, and 16-20 does 3d6 sdc dmg. Okay, I'm down with that. But then we move to the next step down 21-25 and the damage drops to 1d2 . What?!.. then 25-30 1d3, 1d4(for a SHPS of 31-35.the same as a normal PS of ..anything no I think not ), 36-40 1d6, 41-50 1d8, 51-60 1d10, 61-70 2d6(which now does the same dmg as a SHPS of 1-15..how is this even right?)
If any of you fine folk (who may be better at pattern recognition or math than I am) can figure out how to fix this (without telling me it isn't cannon or saying scrap it all together) I would really appreciate it.
Thank you,
Nate
PS
What would be simplest/best (imho) is an easy formula to plug #'s into. If normal = X Then Bionic/EX = X*a+(? if applicable) and Robotic/Superhuman = X*b+(? if applicable). This way your PC with digging claws which normally do 2d10 and SH PS can now be calculated as 2d10*b+(? if applicable).

Forget the first system (The creator has obviously left out a rule so common to his games that he never noticed).
Use the 2nd system as it is easier to follow and much simpler to adopt.

Re: Base damage progression strength tables - help
It appears to me that when the damage stops saying S.D.C. after it, the writer intended those damage values to be Mega-Damage (M.D.).
Zerebus: "I like MDC. MDC is a hundred times better than SDC."
kiralon: "...the best way to kill an old one is to crash a moon into it."

I agree with Glistam, the tables start off with SD then change to MD. Which is why there appears to be a degradation in the numbers. The writer (for some reason ) left out saying those numbers are MD.
But it does not look like it has any worse assumptions about legacy knowledge than what PB makes.

drew, you are knowledgeable and often helpful. While I recognize those words as English words and understand them when read individually, collectively I have no clue what you just tried to say. Can I get a clarification please?

I think he means that Palladium Books is assuming that you knew they meant the damage values were in MD.

he is making an allusion (none to subtly) to the fact that there are areas of the Pally system that appear to to leave out vital rules in the same manner as the House rules under discussion.
