Gunbuster did the same stunt, versus a MASSIVE space alien armada.

Which one? I've seen 2 of them. Sorry, it's just been a while since I've seen them.

The first one...when they go out to intercept the alien swam that's just about to invade the solar system, during the battle, Gunbuster briefly wraps itself in a giant black cloak that deflects the aliens' energy beams. Then it's Gunbuster's turn....

Ah, the black and white movie. Kind of a sad happy ending for them when they final get back to earth.

The B&W took me aback too. It was rather jarring, and not entirely successful as a gimmick, but it did help set the series apart as an 'art' anime.
As for the ending? Kind of a tribute to Haldeman's 'Forever War'. After all, you don't know if there's anybody down there(might all be automated)...at least until the 'sequel' series(which I haven't seen, and which I'm already kinda disappointed by from the descriptions...really. using EARTH as a projectile? Somebody's gotta get their priorities right...).

I honestly remember liking it. Though you know me, I like basicly everything I see. Don't let anything else cloud your judgment until you see it.

Just read the descrip for Girls und Panzer...
Only in Japan. :|
And if this is what the girls' schools do for fun and status, what do the boys do?
Artillery jousting? Bomber wrestling?
Or do they go on to go professional as Skycrawlers?

One of the write ups I read said that males were only allowed to operate tanks in war. That if they were allowed to do Sensha-Do, the fear was they wouldn't treat it as a sport and it would become war. We're too aggressive I guess.

Interesting info. Though I wouldn't be one of those males. I could do it without going to war.

UEsG GMP Sub-Division Branch Officer(Baseline R-Sailor Moon Earth Annex)

“MMMPPPHHHFFFF!!!”
“Oh, damn it, she’s got her leg up again!”
“A little help here? She’s got her feet braced against the doorframe again!”
“*Grunt*squeee!*”
”Watch it! She kicks!”
“Here, just get these plastic ties around her ankles!”
“Humpf! There! You’re right, she IS strong! Now, who or what do we have here?”
“Thanks. This here is a low-level, low-caste yoma. Japan garrison’s been so good at wiping out Beryl’s leftovers, it was decided to save a few for study. What we’re seeing now are random scavengers and remanents from the earlier incursions. This one was bagged trying to steal life energy at an internet cafe. Easy capture.”
“So, taking this dangerous creature down to the labs for some probing?”
The gray-furred bunny-girl yoma in the straitjacket being held between two burly armored GMP guards shook her head frantically, her hair and long ears flopping wildly.
“Yeah. Doc’s really eager to get her hands on this one. Mentioned some procedures she wanted to try out.”
The GMP officer may as well have said vivisection, as the yoma’s eyes bugged above the thick leather gag.
“WWWWMMMPPPPHHFFFFFF!!!!!!!!”
“They’re already considering long term solutions to the yoma.”
The GMP officer might as well have said fricasee.
“UUUmmmmmfffff!!!”
The little puffball tail sticking out of a hole in the back of the restraint garment trembled like a power scrub brush.
“Come on; scientists and their instruments are waiting!”
“OOooffpphhttt!!!”
“Oh, she’s kicking again!”
“I’ll hold the door open.”

Gero: (Locking the door to Khyron's quarters) "Yes Lord Khyron."

As Khyron shuts off the lights and starts snoring, Gero pulls out a tiny compact that covers him in a glow revealing:

(More) Notable Vehicles of the BioSanitation Battalions:

*M4001T ‘Rat Wagon’ ---Militarized version of an urban waste disposal truck, but fittted out as a covert operations armored personnel carrier. Some say the idea came from out-dimension sources, but the BSB maintains it was an original idea. While the six-wheeled APC retains some trash pickup and compaction capability, this serves primarily as a cover for the hidden inner troop compartment holding a squad of BSB troopers. Other features include heavy armor, solid armored wheels, scanner-shielding, sealable gunports, NBC environmental sealing and protection, radiation shielding, CADS blades on the forward lift-prongs and a pop-up weapons turret. Rat Wagons are the most common BSB vehicle, as they allow the division to move about above-ground largely unseen, keeping their deployments secret(and who really pays attention to garbage trucks?).

*M2205T ‘Custodian’----Ironically, while the standard APC of the BSB is a garbage truck, the standard APC of the ASC is a garbage truck in the BSB. The standard M2200 Janisarry APC is modified by the BSB to feature a garbage tilt-bin where the troop compartment normally is, and a set of lift-prongs on the front. The vehicle is oftem painted in bright stain-shedding paints or in municipal service colors. Sub-variants replace the tilt-bin and dumpster-lift with liquid tanks, street-sweeping gear, and sprayer equipment, or more specialized gear such as turbo-vacs and portable hazardous waste autoclave plasma incinerators. Otherwise, the M2205T retains the weapons and combat capabilities of the Janissary. The M2205T is most commonly found around BSB facilities(garbage dumps. land fills, and waste management depots) doing yardwork, but can be called out to support BSB field operations.

The removal of the Shadow Device allowed for increased speed and payload, and the BSB already liked the black and white colour scheme. The timing was considered prefect a number of Misato clones had just been dumped transfered to the BioSanitation Battalions. These clones were quickly formed into the BioSanitation Urban Tactical Responce squads.

Note: All VR-39 X units are piloted by female officers, usually Misato clones leading to the cyclone getting the unfortunate nickname, the "French Tickler" originated by a certain member of the 15[sup]th[/sup] squad who shall remain nameless.

Actually this sounds like something the DOMEST (Domestic Operations Military Echelon Taskforce) would use...They're a branch of the GMP(since their duties entail bodyguard work) rather than the TC.
Of course, retraining Misato clones in the art of domestic skills is considered to be a lost cause , at least until somebody in the GMP suggested modifying the Zylonic Mind Probe....

Yeah, but in the UEsG universe, she'd notice ONE thing...
Fredericks is supposed to be dead, seeing as he was kacked back pre-UEsG when SEELE was attempting to sabotage the ASC by smuggling an N2 warhead into Monument City. Leonard even said nice things at memorial, then used the incident to move against Toyko-3 and SEELE in the name of securing the Gates and protecting national security.

"I don't know who you really are, under Fredericks' face, but I'm going to drive this stake through your heart to make sure of it."

(Fredericks from Bloopers, visiting via astral projection) "Well, buddy, you're screwed...."

See. I don't play video games, so such knowledge is my trivia weakness...but I KNEW there was a mutant turncoat with a name like 'Kerrigan', but had to be certain.

But not to worry, Alpha, I'll be fuzzling you with obscure media references soon enough.
