The Labyrinth in Center: How would u do it???

Unread post by Jefram_denkar »

I have a group about to enter the Labrinth on Center. I'm just wondering if anyone else has run a group threw it or ideas for levels.

Any imput is welcome.
I've got an advanced pre-rifts energy rifle, A soul drinking rune blade, living bio armor, and a hover truck full of nukes. So why do I feel under equipped for this??? (Sir Joe the Gardner 7th level Ogre Keeper of the garden on his first encounters with the Mechanoids)

Equal parts physical, holographic and illusory. Some of the physical aspects can be changed, shifted & reconstructed to suit, enhanced by both sophisticated holographic imagery & magical spells.

Think of the craziest dungeon crawling you've ever wanted to do but never had an excuse for. Then throw in a malicious producer trying to keep the action value up for better video sales.

Well for starters I am looking at some classic Video Games for level ideas and then add the Rifts twist.

This is what I got planned so far.

- Platforming over acid pits while being attacked by flying dinosaurs.
- An over sized Wack a Mole game where the characters are the Moles and have to jump from hole to hole while giant mutant Moles with magic clubs try to brain them.
- An anti grav level where the characters need to recover three keys to exit the level while avoiding Robot Spiders.
- A racing section across a war torn waste land and into the bowels of a crashed starship in dune buggies and hover cars.
- A trek across a trap infested jungle while being chased by Demons and devils.
- Having to catch a Fire spirit in a chase around an active volcano.
- A form of Beer pong with live hand grenades while in a shaky bridge to unlock the portcullis.

So far that is the stuff I got planned.

What do you think?

Some cool stuff.
Nothing focuses a PC party like an assassin sent to kill one or more of them. Particularly if there have been several subtle failed attempts.

Good ideas, sound like a real challenge!

LMAO

One of the best movies ever.

I base most goblins I play on the ones from the Labyrinth Movie.

a got a few more to add now including.

- Catch the fat princess being launched at you by catapult.
- Battle an Adult Hydra in an urban setting. Got to get past it to get out of the level.
- Navigate a maze of gas filled hallways while small creature bombard you with junk.
- Fairy Pit Food Fight while battling it out with fairy folk with food must find the one plate of food that is not fairy food and eat it to get the key to the next level.

Also I am wondering how much would you quantify the treasure at the end of the level as being worth??? while I figure most of my player characters will quantify at the normal treasure that a person would get for completing the Labyrinth (not Counting Special compensation) ???

Better still, use the Grimtooth's Traps books.

Hmmm... you could have very dangerous monsters, harmless things, and so on and when they get to the end, half the party dead and their armour ruined, weapons out of ammo, and they find... nothing.
Absolutely nothing.
Someone got there long ago.

I always felt that 'The labrynth' would be a combination of Quake Arena, Castlevania and any number of D&D classic dungeon modules wrapped in one with product endorsements.
Becuase unlike the Splyn areana, the Labrynth is spread across both open areas and tight confined spaces with the player(s) never knowing where they will be coming out next when they pass "THAT gate".
Only problem is...keeping track as a GM.
As a player? Just hope your GM WANT's your PC's still functional afterwards.

Random encounter tables including monsters, puzzles, hazardous environments, traps, other explorers (friendly? hostile? lost?) etc

Once a encounter is used cross it off and don't use it again.

Dont forget random ice cream and food venders. Nurni enterpises selling resuplies. Then surpise them by haivng them have a card game battle with the some random person. The cards sumon monsters that fight it out.
The Clones are coming you shall all be replaced, but who is to say you have not been replaced already.

Soon my army oc clones and winged-monkies will rule the world but first, must .......

I may debate canon and RAW, but the games I run are highly house ruled. So I am not debating for how I play but about how the system works as written.

Sort of like Mojo from Marvel Comics.
And if... somone whipped out a mini gun. We run and hide. lol.

Now.. some guys won't... and you can say nice things at their funeral. "He was a brave soul.... if stupid.. he didn't take cover when the guy whipped out the mini gun on us that day.. but his blood-fountaining corpse did give us a chance to sneak around and clonk the machine gunner on the head with a rock.
