There is already planning for the 2014 Unofficial Fan Open House. It it going to be at the same spot about 45 minutes from the main office.

I'd be down for that. Usually it is me and my escort at the hotel. My escort is a luggage dolly with a cooler of beer with me attached. Usually bring a few other things to share, but I sure do likes my beer.

I was just reminiscing about the last Open House with my friend who was there as well.

What we remember the most was the painful exhaustion...we were so tired it actually hurt. Like 40 hours of gaming in two days will do that to you.

It was a blast and worth it though. I ate too many hot dogs and drank like 10 '5 hour energy drinks'.

P.S. So, The Dark Elf, have you ever noticed that we both have 3 Rifter publications, both for PF, and 2 of them are in the same Rifters (we both have Rifter 52 and 55 under our belts)? I just find that interesting. Farewell and safe journeys for now.

Question: What did you do to prepare to write an articles for The Rifter? I have some "Megaversal" ideas, that I think would make a good story, but not sure where to proceed.

Greetings and Salutations. Well, this question would be more fitting for The Rifter forum (where I suggest asking it again and maybe getting more response), but since we're here and I already made my post for POH2015 ...

1: I get an idea.
2: I ignore said idea because I'm too lazy to write it.
3: If I forget idea. I return to Step 1. If idea persists and is too awesome to ignore, I start working it.
4: Make sure you've read the submission guidelines found online. Try to make sure you meet those expectations.
5: Knowing your setting is ideal. I write for PF, and I usually try to make sure nothing like my idea already exists. I also try to make sure my idea won't make some existing idea obsolete. Work with canon, not against it. This may involve research and rereading of various materials/books.
6: Write, write, write.
7: Don't send in your first draft! Rewrite, try to figure out ways to make things better, etc.
8: When you feel it's good enough, send it to some editors. Friends are okay, but try to make sure it's someone who will give you honest feedback. A friend who only tells you it's awesome (hey, sometimes it will be, in which case it's okay) isn't helping you.
9: After fixing any corrections from step 8, submit.

Additional Note: Megaversal articles can be difficult. It depends on why its Megaversal. If it's just some rule or O.C.C. that can work in any setting, no worries. If it's something that's a cross-setting (you mentioned a story, which is what made me bring this up) that could be a problem. Palladium wants to keep their I.P. separate. So while writing a PF article and including M.D.C. notes for conversion to Rifts might not be a huge problem, writing a story involving a Mystic Knight from Rifts, a superhero from HU, and a Palladin from PF could be a problem.
