In a game where a Player Character has the potential to have 1000+ HP/SDC/MDC, why is it that Psionic Powers and the few Healing Invocations do very small amounts of healing?
Take a Mega-Hero from HU, I know someone that had one and they had roughly 2300 HP/SDC combined (Mega Hero, with Invulnerability, Supernatural Strength, and Sonic Flight. Almost a Superman style PC.), but the best they could get was roughly 10 HP/SDC back a day in a High End Hospital, or 18 pts per use of a healing power. The above Mega Hero would be looking at a 230 day stay at a hospital for full recovery. Its almost like a game stopper for injured Characters.
Has anyone altered the healing spells/psionics in their game to match the scale for the HP/SDC a PC has? Or also feel that Recovery from injury can be a game stopper while PCs rest up?
Full Disclosure: as a house rule we combine the HP/SDC into one stat, for a more streamline environment in game play. Less math to do, and easier to keep track of.

Because the Spells and Psi powers are for those who are not one of the very few exceptions that have very high DC's (i.e.: for normal people). This is because in PF1 there were no high DC chars, and the canon spells are ether just converted to the PPE system or are based off the PF1 spells. So the numbers for healing are just enough to get a normal human/humanoid out of danger of die'ing of their wounds.
Then there is the part that most high DC chars have bio-regeneration as part of their racial make up.
There is the Greater healing spell in FoM (1st publishing of) and the RBoM.
I have made a healing spell that heals a char over time which is more usable by high SDC char then low SDC chars, and has posted in in the Invented Spells topic in the M&P forum. "Healing Waters" is it's name. It was posted near the front of the pages.
PS: DC....short for SDC &/or MDC depending on the setting/char talked about.

Yeah if your an mdc creature none of the healing spells really help till you get to restoration. Wich is not a small task to cast ppe wise. But most things with a high capacity though have some form of regenration tocounter balance this.

OK. Thanks for the explanation, as it makes a lot more sense now. I had always thought that the Psionics, and Spells were a Copy/Paste from one setting to another in the PB lineup.
@Drewkitty, I will be sure to look for that spell.

With most of the settings, and most spells, "yes, the the common magic spells are C&P'ed". So for the most part the spells are the same.
However, there are spells that do change between settings. Like the Armor of Ithan spell. Between R and PF there is a big difference. Then between PF and HU and NB there are minor differences and a different name in each.
There are also Setting Specific spells. The NB setting have the most of these SS spells. With HU2 having a few.

How is it a game stopper? They can still move around and stuff it just means they need to deal with some vulnerable down time. Maybe they walk around as scared as a mortal for a bit.Brayon wrote:Take a Mega-Hero from HU, I know someone that had one and they had roughly 2300 HP/SDC combined (Mega Hero, with Invulnerability, Supernatural Strength, and Sonic Flight. You can create stronger versions if you want. Might want to take a gander at the deific-level healing abilities in Dragons and Gods. These guys have the dilemma of high life points too, and even with pretty decent regeneration rates, they have those on hand to replenish themselves very rapidly.Brayon wrote:Has anyone altered the healing spells/psionics in their game to match the scale for the HP/SDC a PC has? Mega-Heroes indicating an HU game, just get a hospital run by some superpowered staff with applicable powers. You could have some with that Healing minor abilities, or Divine Healing major, or you could even have a guy with Grant Powers and Regeneration who lends his regeneration ability to others he wants to help.
Heck, with PU2 some hardware can even build devices that instill powers. I could see a hardware MD who uses that to treat patients.
