Robotech Tactics paper building
was looking around online and came across this site which has plans for buildings that can be used in table top games thought people might find it useful not sure if the scale is right but the first apartment building when made up is 2.5 in tall

Re: Robotech Tactics paper building
battletech's scale is (within an acceptable error of margin) the same as the Robotech Tacticis mini's. so they should easily work. i've got a series of posts on making scale terrain in the works..

Re: Robotech Tactics paper building
Dropzone is, IIRC, 10mm scale. (about the same as the Mechwarrior clix-game, or the gamesworkshop "warmaster" stuff)
robotech tactics is around 6mm scale. also known as 1/285th, 1/300, and microarmor and epic scale. note there is some variation at the scale.. some companies make their stuff just a tad bit smaller or larger than others.
the "mm" scale is measured from the foot of the human figure to its eyes, btw. at least usually.
for dropzone buildings, you can probably shrink them to 60% and get them looking pretty close.
some terrain companies worth looking at: mainly due to cheaper terrain.
Burn in designs - http://www.burnindesigns.net/ laser cut thin MDF. really tough and really good. their "federation city" is tailor made for mecha battles in robotech's scale. (or battletech's)
Gamecraft miniatures - http://www.gamecraftminiatures.com/ they make resin, plastic, and cardboard buildings and terrain accessories. their cardboard series is a good way to fill out a city cheaply. if your willing to spend more you can also get various specialty buildings (stores, mosques, parking garages, etc), and they recently started selling a pre-fab 20 inch by 20 inch (1.6 feet by 1.6ft) urban base board.. basically a large durable slab of wood, with resin roadways and wood panels to create city blocks. you can order them as a kit or pre-made..obviously pre-made costs more. note that buildings come separate.
the company GHQ has a bunch of free paper buildings in 6mm microarmor scale.. http://www.ghqmodels.com/pages/military/freestuff.asp
they can be a bit tricky to make and tend to be fairly small (designed for WW2 and modern tank battles.. mecha tend to be way taller. ) but good for maybe filling out a suburb or something. you can also find scenario's for modern and WW2 tank gaming, based on historical scenarios or on various military exercises/predictions/whatifs. these scenarios can be adapted to other settings and units with relatively little work. or could inspire your own scenario ideas.
GHQ also makes some really good metal and resin buildings and terrain stuff.. tend to be small for mecha but might make for some great decorative base parts. i could totally see a Zent battlepod stepping on a modern tank, or something like that.

Re: Robotech Tactics paper building
you may have found "15mm" scale buildings..
the problem with scale stuff is there are too many versions out there. often a game will say what it is.
for example, Heavy Gear is "1/144th" scale.. which is about 10mm scale.
Battletech is 1/285th scale.. or about 6mm scale
Mechwarrior Dark Age was 10mm scale, or about 1/144th.
etc.
mm scale is measured from foot to eye on a human figure. generally one standing.
the 1/### scale is like model making.. it means 1 measurement equals 285 of those on the full sized thing. so 1/285th means 1 inch on the model is 285 inches on the real thing.
one problem is scale creep.. over time the figures tend to get larger due to the sculpters trying to fit more detail/make figures more durable/look cooler. so for example, battletech is supposed to be 6mm scale, but it's closer to 7mm or 8mm for some figures. or 4mm in others. some of their light weight units have figures bigger than the heavier units, due to the person sculpting them not being very consistent.
for terrain, your best bet is to measure the doorways. a 6mm scale building is going to have a door that is 6mm to 8mm tall.
sometimes the best you can do is to just print out a copy and hold a figure near it and eyeball it.
usually though the places you find the terrain will list the scale used.
you may want to consider picking up one of the cheap GHQ sample packs.. that gives you a tank, some infantry, a jeep/APC and some artillery. for about $5. they make great ways to compare scale. if you buy one of the modern packs you can use that to eyeball things pretty well. i like the isreali pack, but the US or russian one works too.
myself, since i have new battletech stuff to play as well as robotech coming, i'm working on building an urban table.. just gonna buy some 2ft squares of MDF or smooth plywood, paint on roads and city block's, then buy some of the Burn in Designs and gamecraft mini's buildings, mount them on rectangular bases so i can move them around and store them seperately. would show progress, but my job has prevented me from starting at the moment.
in regards to paper buildings.. the battletech forum has a huge repository of links:
http://bg.battletech.com/forums/index.php?topic=810.0
this site has a bunch of 6mm gaming info, both links and articles. though some of the terrain articles assume certain rulesets with a different ground scale.

the article on making your own buildings is helpful: http://6mm.wargaming.info/page37.shtml

Re: Robotech Tactics paper building
Just as a side note - I played a demo of the RT RPG T game back in May at Anime North in Toronto.
The Tomahawk and Defender were damn near dead on scale with the Battletech equivalents. At least they looked as such to me.

I am very opinionated. Yes I rub people the wrong way but at the end of the day I just enjoy good hard discussion and will gladly walk away agreeing to not agree

well, i'll have to compare them to my 3rd ed boxset plastech figures to see how close they come.
was already planning to base the Destroids and VF's so i can switch to hexbases and use them as stand ins for their close cousins in Btech.
