DO NOT DO AN ARTISTS POLL!
God - I had to stop with Kev on this one, but for artists...it'd be like choosing between my children!
All of the Palladium artists have been very, very good to me. I love 'em all.
Oh yeah, and Kent Burles did this avatar! How can you object to that?

Siembeida, Gleba and the Aten/White Gestalt entity.
Honourable mention: Braden Campbell for the excellent, plot-hook-ladden Fleets and Singsapaugh for the awesome pseudo-culture of the Shemarrians.
It's really tough choosing just three for, despite the financial woes, Palladium is rich in ideas, having so many talented folk (past and present) fleshing out the megaverse for us to explore - keep rocking out the good stuff gentlemen

It's all right, Subbie. We're all big boys. We can handle it. However, we have been known to issue a death threat or two but no convictions so far.

That's all right. Besides, I already know know how that poll ranking would turn out. Amy by a landslide. "The Unicorn" has you all in her thrall.

Freddie'd probably take my vote, but that's for narcissistic reasons. He's the first to have drawn me!
Honestly, for cover art my favorite is probably Warlords of Russia (Johnny Z) with RUE (Scott Johnson) a close second.
Images of me are hard because there are now quite a few of 'em and they all rock. The one just inside Heroes is friggin' awesome (though I wish it had been noted as having been me).
I wish I was a hundredth as heroic as you made me out to be though. Alas, it is not so. I never even served in the military.
Hm. Another art idea coming on.

Erick was one of the best writers Palladium ever had, in all his works.
Todd Yoho brought the post-apocalyptic back to Rifts, for which I am grateful.

I just got through reading Rifts: Chaos Earth again....and a few days before that, I finished re-reading the Vampire Kingdoms: Revised Edition.
Seriously, I don't understand why Kevin doesn't get more love in the Polls......unless, of course, all the folks who were voting for C.J. Carella were not only basing their choices on his writing, but what his mind created and contributed to the world of Rifts.
But ye gods, Kevin doth be a damned good writer looking at his work just from a storytelling standpoint.

The Kevinomicon, Book of Siembieda 3:16.
16 Blessed art Thou above all others, O COALITION STATES, beloved of Kevin;
17 For Thou art allowed to do Evil without Limit, nor do thy Enemies retaliate.
18 Thy Military be run by Fools and Dotards.
19 Yet thy Nation suffers not. Praise be unto Him that protects thee from all harm!!

Agreed,
Nightmares of a Tin Man is just awesome. I love reading it and wish it were a novel instead of a section in a source book. Chaos Earth is another great example that you brought up.
Lets be honest, most of the writers in the poll were inspired by Kevin. I know I was. He is in a catagory all by himself.

I understand the rule....and honestly many threads should be lost to time, but i can also understand the need to bump a thread on occasion as newcomers won't necessarily dig back a years worth of posts even though it may be something they would be interested in seeing/reading/taking part in....
As for me I commented earlier one but I'l throw in that I enjoyed Marker's two Robotech books

My favorite books are the Dino Swamp books, Arzno and New West, so I have to go with Todd, Jason and Chris.

Siembieda, of course. And Wujcik, also of course.
After that, it became difficult to choose.
CJ had a lot of good stuff, but he had a lot of crap that I hate. Same with most writers- I have mixed feelings about their work.
Ultimately, I went with Sinsapaugh, because Shemarrian Nation is one of the better Rifts books ever made, and the quality is even throughout the book.
It was a joy to read an entire Rifts book without thinking multiple times, "Well, THAT doesn't make any sense!" or "Why the hell would that do so much damage?" or "Great. More power creep."

Question, who did the artwork that looked kinda bubbled and chromed. Can't think of the books right off.
Vince Martin?
~ Josh
Don't know but did the art for the opening section of the Corkscrew Galaxy in Carl Gleba's The Three Galaxies. That art is difficult to look at, even though I appreciate the work. If Vince Martin did the Coalition War Campaign and PFRPG, then no. He's solid if not beyond that mark. He did a great deal of the work in Splynn.
I don't mind his artwork at all, in fact I rather like most of it, but he isn't a really big fan favorite artist around here for some reason.
He does good fantastic landscapes and face/portrait type art. I am just less sold on his drawings of tech like power armor/robots. Every artist has their strengths and weaknesses. Like my mom she does amazing wildlife and nature pictures in any media you can think of but she really cannot do people at all.
Re: So...who do YOU think is/are the *best* Rifts Writer(s)?
Oh one thing I noticed or didn't notice is I am not seeing Matthew Clements on the list and between him and KS they did a great job on NG1 and I really enjoyed black market as well.
For me its really hard to pick though because overall the writing quality has been very consistently good for rifts products.
Also one reason KS may not get the love he deserves is his hands are in the mix on pretty much every product and sometimes its hard to tell what is his and what is him massaging another writers work to make it shine.
