Starting a Palladium Fantasy Campaign

Looking for material that might cover some steampunk styled technology. Does anybody know of any?
Basically, one of the areas in my campaign is going to have a steampunk feel to it. I mean sure, I can do it all myself pretty easy, add in the weapons, the skills and the other technology. But if it's already out there, I don't need to.

Much as i hate going over to the other side on this, you could probably look to D&D for much of this information. I myself made a steampunk/alchemy city in a campaign recently and everything from the DMG to the Arms and Equipment Guide was useful. Of course, i did make a bunch of stuff up myself still.

Kevin is pretty heavy handed with his No tech in Palladium. Lets put it this way. They don't even have a printing press (to the eternal happiness of scribes everywhere). So the likelihood of steam powered anything is very very unlikely. So you wont find anything in any of the books (As far as I know).

One of the reasons I like the setting. I like pure fantasy. Fireworks have been discovered in the Palladium world though.

I think the idea is that ''why invent something when you have magic that can do it for you". So if you wanted a gun to exist - look back at the Guardians of the Flame series. The Magic guild created magic based guns that that basically the same thing as a flintlock except it was all magic and the trigger worked as if it was a simple word.. So steam powered devices could just be fire and water elementals bound together.

That is essentially the gist of the idea. Magically powered guns that deal physical, or magically enhanced, damage. The civilization using and making it found a different use for magic and a way to harness that into their more technological way of life. Not an original idea by any means, but one I had yet to find in PFRPG.

3.5 generally. i don't remember any setting books from 2nd edition that would have a gun-metal city type thing.

If you're going to steal steampunk ideas from D20, then check out the Iron Kingdoms RPG by Privateer Press. They have a new version that isn't D20 based, and is now based somewhat on their Warmachine wargame rules I believe.

For 2nd Ed AD&D, you could try and find some of the older adventure modules for the GreyHawk setting. There were some sections of the world that had some steampunk themes. There was even an adventure based around a crashed spaceship from Earth (think that's where it was from, been too long) in the Barrier Peaks (I think, again, too long ago). One of the demi-gods was known to carry two 'six shooter' wands (were actually revolvers, duh!).

For more ideas about binding elementals and demons into items, you might want to look into the rpgs Stormbringer! or Elric of Melniboné. Both are based on the Elric of Melniboné books by Michael Moorcock. The first one was by Chaosium, the later by Mongoose Publishing. The setting is heavy with devices that use trapped elementals/demons to give added function. From things like a tea kettle with a trapped minor fire elemental to keep the tea hot, through to Stormbringer, Elrics sword, which I think had several 'beings' bound into it's blade (forgive me, it's been ages since I've read either RPG (don't own either), or indeed read anything by Moorcock).

Eberron is not a steampunk setting. There is nothing steampunk about it. For some reason people think anything with airships is steampunk, which might be true if all the ships were not magically powered/created. The term your looking for is Runepunk.

Also, another good source for steampunk ideas is Space:1889.

That's true, the ideas I had of using Stormbringer!/Elric rpgs would be more runepunk. Still good for ripping ideas from through. ;]

Zeitgeist, an adventure path by ENWorld is a steampunk setting that might provide some good inspiration.

I don't know if you kind find it anymore but the Transdimensional TMNT book, which covers time travel, which I believe has stats for black powder weapons and other tech / skills which might be helpful.
