One of my favorites are what people do to have affairs or leading a double life. Such as "the weekend fishing trip with the buds", or the "Traveling Salesman" profession are good.

Using VFW's, any kind of club that has an income of some kind (motorcycle, gaming, con's, nightclubs, dance clubs, strip clubs, etc.), or even organizations that can be used to funnel illegal cash or goods can be fun.

I have a local "Indian casino" that's not on the up and up entirely, and my group has access to it for getting weaponry and hard to find goods. They are considerate to the plight of humanity having to deal with the supernatural, but they have to make a living, and the people in charge dont have an issue with underhanded dealings at times to make it.

All great ideas . Another would be something that would excuse teams tromping around properties and carrying equipment like a home inspection business or a survey service . There are alot of real life paranormal investigators (such as myself) with teams who operate web-sites and even on-line radio sites that focus on the paranormal . A group of people fighting such creatures and dealing with such problems as discribed in BtS 2nd Ed could hide in plain site by setting up such a "hobby" and just blend in with the paranormal crowd . They would have to have flexible Day jobs still but the web site could be set up to sell equipment and novelties to bring in extra funds (there is a company of black smiths out there right now that are makeing a fortune selling zombie apocalypse weapons . People will buy anything) .

Another idea would be to emulate all those supernatural hunting shows that are TV these days. What the real catch is, the investigators never actually show the footage of them catching and dealing with the monster or demon, they just show the mystery and leave people to decide for themselves and never actually say whether the creature exists.

Getting paid to do what their the best at and lying to rest of the world about it ... sounds like a scandal to me.

I'd play up the "get liability insurance" angle hard on this one. Every dent, nick, dash, collapse, smash, and destruction of property the supernatural causes is gonna be their job to fix. :P

That would be a fun and realistic challenge for the players . If they cause property damage it comes out of their operation funds . The problem with a TV show is there are so many eyes on you and you would not get to pick when and where you investigate . But a tabloid type magazine would give you freedom to investigate what you choose and an excuse to do so . Plus if the general public does not take your stories as anything more than entertainment then thats even better . Another fun idea is to travel with a support group disguised as a traveling carnival or circus . there are still a few around .

That can wokr a Circus that is a refuge for psychics and others, train them in ther powers,it can be setted in the between 1870s to 1939,they go to places where thers supernatual activity, undercover as Shows, and go after they take down the danger.
This can be a great Rifter idea, they can be in alliance with the PC,s group.

I had exactly that same idea for a secret society that deals with the supernatural . Plus there are several places across the country where retired circus groups have built permanent towns (at least 3 in Fl and one here in western Ky) . As modern entertainment has grown fewer and fewer people go to traveling shows and more and more circus shut down with only the biggest surviving . These are usually people who have lived in close company of each other much if not all of their lives . Naturally they would become like one great family and would want to stay together even after the closing of the circus . So many over the decades have bought out of the way land and started small towns and many of those have kept up their circus like tradition to draw in income for their town. Such towns and their residence could offer safe haven for modern adventurers and even other small traveling shows (a supernatural underground to hide those escapeing vengeful supernatural predators or not so understanding law enforcement ?) Such towns themselves could be plagued by other worldly horrors . I like your thinking Gaby .

And Bikers as a MC . There is always a rally somewhere and the use of a van and trailer for tools and spare parts (weapons and equipment) would be justified .

I have found using a secretive mystic order to be useful. In my case it was an order of druids, useful hook to explan how PSIs and mages got there training, also could give a pool of people that can hold offices in local govt, and law inforcment, as well as the suport of craftsmen and healers. granted there are limits on what can be done I mean could you just imagin the backlash of people in ky found out that the pasters of there churck, moembers of the state and severl city police departments and shareff departmens, judge, lawyers, techers profecers and bussness men, where all members of a pagan order? keep in mind my game was sent in my stoping ground of central KY
"Cannon to right of them,
Cannon to left of them,
Cannon in front of them
Volleyed and thundered;
Stormed at with shot and shell,
Boldly they rode and well,
Into the jaws of Death,
Into the mouth of hell
Rode the six hundred."
