Good Tablet Suggestions

Unread post by TiekoSora »

While this technically isn't a GM question, it is aimed at those who use a tablet and PDFs for their sessions. I am about to get a campaign going, and no longer have a laptop. I would like to get a tablet to store the few books I will need, as well as some campaign information I have drawn up in PDF files. I was thinking of a Kindle Fire HD, the 8.5 inch one. I would like some suggestions though before I commit, as I have never owned a tablet before. While I wouldn't mind a Microsoft Surface, I could buy a cheap laptop for less that does everything except having a touchscreen. Oh, and I detest the iPad/iPhone. Use them at work.

I'm not savvy on tablets or anything (I do use a laptop when I run games, but most of my work ends up on paper just the same, the laptop is more of a stereo...). Yet I would think the more important part is what programs you keep on it to make the tablet useful, and I imagine its fairly similar to what you would use on a laptop. Book PDF's, notes, music, maybe a quick dice roller for when you don't want to toss 10+ dice around and do all the math. Other than that, I keep it too simple to be of much help. Sorry.

I like the Samsung Galaxy 10.1 and some of my friends like the Samsung Galaxy tab 3 in 7"

Thanks for the replies guys. The 10.1 would probably work best with my aging eyes, but if I am going to drop that kind of coin I may get one of those ultrathin notebooks instead.
