Then he can't get though the doorway because his Ego is too huge, Nightbane on the other hand have no issues with their image walking through the wall.

The power compensates for normal physical objects/blockage, such as doorways, tables, dividers, ect. by as much as a full foot forward or backward (GM's discretion), so the illusion is not perceptually disrupted.
