BTS1 already has the Arcanist....if you want a BTS2 mage then bug PB about getting the arcana book published.
The biggest class difference is that the arcanist recovers all her PPE with a night's sleep. Half a night's sleep...recovers half the PPE.
Ah...humm....and BTS1 uses the ed roll like HU2 too.

May you be blessed with the ability to change course when you are off the mark.

yes, the mage type in NB could be imported to BTS, the PF Wizard, and HU2's Mystic study can be imported too.
Just about any mage type from SDC settings can be imported to BTS2 with out much editing.
But the Mystic PCC types better fit the setting better right now due to the prominence of the PCC classes in the 2nd ed right now.

If you want to use the BTS 1st edition Arcanist then just drop them in and use them as-is. That includes their spell selection. Conversely, someone playing a sorcerer would still have that O.C.C.'s spell selection. I would not allow a Nightbane Arcanist, however.

Sounds a lot like how chi regenerates... barring meditation of course, which makes it come even faster (even more so with Dragon or Chakuri)
Am surprised all the gods out there would not learn this OCC, becomes increasingly better the bigger your base.
Was not so impressive in BTS1 since nobody had all that much PPE. The multipliers applied when they visit Rifts made it a lot more impressive though.

Which could be interpreted as the reason why that rule was changed in later games to a fixed number rather than a percentage.

Re: Sorcerer into BtS
I find that the rates of recovery to be a little slow for the most part... 5 PPE per hour of rest/sleep; 10 per hour of meditation.
For a starting character this may not be all that difficult to achieve, but once one starts getting up in levels the down time after depleting one's reserves will grow ever higher (especially with a few lucky rolls when increasing one's PPE at each level). While this does make some sense, there is also the fact that a lvl 15 sorcerer recovers his reserves no better than a 1st lvl sorcerer. You would think that he would get better at it over time.
Taking a page from the PPE channeling article from the Rifter, I tend to modify the meditation recovery a bit. Namely for those who have the ability to learn any spell at any time regardless of level (like your standard sorcerer), they increase their recovery rate by 2 PPE per hour per level while meditating, while those who only learn new spells at each new level or have a limited selection of spells (mystics for example) only increase this rate by 1. Supernatural creatures and creatures of magic will recover even faster... adding 3 PPE per hour per level to their recovery rate (they get the meditation rate naturally while resting/sleeping).
Thus, a 1st level sorcerer will recover 10 PPE per hour while meditating, increasing to 12 at level 2 and so on until at lvl 15 he is recovering 38 PPE per hour of meditation... nearly 4 times the amount he could recover when he was starting out. With a potential PPE pool of 228 (+PE) at level 15, it would only take about 6 to 7 hours of meditation to recover his entire pool (23 hours with the standard rate of recovery... that's roughly 3 days at 8 hours a shot).
For a mystic the base rate at level 1 would be the same... 10 PPE per hour, but a fair bit less by level 15 at only 24 PPE per hour. Fortunately for them, they have a smaller PPE pool... with a max of about 138 (+PE). This means that it will take about 6 hours for a mystic to replenish their PPE pool (14 hours... two days at the static amount).
A 1st level Nightbane would recover 10 PPE per hour naturally while resting, increasing to 52 PPE by level 15. Assuming that they don't burn off any PPE to buy talents, they would have a maximum PPE pool at level 15 of about 452 (+PE) PPE... taking about 9 hours of rest/sleep/meditation to fully recover. Under the standard rules, it would take about 46 hours of meditation to recover... at 8 hours of rest per day it would take nearly a week to fully recover at this level (or meditating/sleeping for 2 days straight... neither of which is really appealing).
This increased PPE recovery greatly reduces the amount of down-time characters need after spending large amounts of PPE (especially when compared to the standard rate where it could take days or even a week to fully recover... months with some creatures with 1000s of PPE).
This rate could also be used for ISP recovery... psychics that focus entirely on their powers would get 2 ISP per hour per level added, those who have psychic abilities in addition to other powers (like mystics) only get to add 1 ISP per hour per level, while supernatural creatures/creatures of magic that have psychic powers add 3 ISP per hour per level with a natural recovery rate equal to meditation while resting.

There are three types of people in the world; those who can count and those who can't.
