Taken from my cell phone, a few inches away. This is the third coat I put on this one, just because I've been experimenting with different schemes, however this one is now mostly done. I need to at least touch up the cockpit, and add the missiles. Plus paint the part the holds it up. But I'm liking how the slate grey/dark grey scheme is working. Not sure if I want to keep the nose black, or switch it to slate grey yet. The main colour is RLM Schwarzgrau, I highlighted it some and attempted to drybrush front to back a little for a kind of speed line effect. I'll have to put the UEDF decals on too. While you can see the different greys zoomed super close like this, viewed from a foot or two away, it's looking well blended and quite good to me.

I expect I'll have it looking neater on future projects after I finally decide on how I want it from the start, instead of repainting a few times. :bandit: I'm having a good time doing the painting though. Such a good time, in fact, I may get an additional squadron later, after my battle cry is all finished. I'm for sure going to pick up a VF-1D and Elint Seeker when I can, as well was a super VF-1 wing.

I'm thinking I'll call the Squadron either Storm Wolf, or Corsair Squadron. What do you think gents?

Know what colours are you going with? I sat staring at mine, then going through paints for about an hour and a half before I even started trying. And I'm still not 100% that's what I'm going to stay with. I might just buy some more later and do different squadrons, so I can paint them different.

I have a lot, so I'll most likely start with what they have in the book and branch out form there. I got a lot to do, as I'm looking at platoon and company formations for the ground troops and air wings here(got more then enough planes here to fill a carrier and have some left over).

I'm doing 4 up as Raven Squadron. Its like Max's VF-1J but replacing blue with dark purple and white with black.

Cool. It's hard to see the purple apart from the black, but I think it's the lighting. Good stuff.

I dig the Traditional Zentradei Very Clean.

The stark Blue and Green of the veritechs is Kinda rade but I think you gotta have some cool squadron names and fluff for those bad boys.
Why are they using such primative weapons?

I used mostly craft store type paint and the camera made it look even more textured then in person.

I did a new scheme that I did just for the open house, in case there was going to be some kind of open RRT painting contest (which there was not, only tournament armies got judged on painting). This is the ARMD-06 Squadron color scheme from the Macross VF-1 Master file. I believe I'll be doing at least 4 complete VFs in this scheme.
