A "Rifts Lalibela" building both the location on Rifts Earth and on Wormwood might be pretty cool
The size isn't surprising, I'd think any dimensional nexus oughta be big.
True - rifts in Wormwood are rare, so the nexus should logically be impressive. Still, it's quite a place to bring up surprises, in either the living planet or Rifts Earth's Africa.
It'd be interesting to build a permanent land bridge of wormwood across Rifts Earth connecting these portals. Even though it's another dimension, if the rifts stay open then the bridges could stay in contact with the home planet which might over-ride it. One gets the impression the SA2 place also has some intact wormwood portions, like if you break off a big enough chunk it might survive on its own instead of dying.

That's a pretty interesting question if it is indeed possible for a big enough chunk of the living planet to grow independently - or at least endure for a long time - it would make Lalibela the perfect place to experiment with the possibility of "infecting/seeding" other worlds/dimensions and indirectly give the Host the capacity to expand & conquer places outside their domain they currently lack.
Damn, that in itself could make a nice springboard from which to update some parts from Rifts Africa, i guess.

It's canon that a large enough chunk can survive independently, there's a chunk of Wormwood living on Rifts Earth right now after it was transposed with a part of Rifts Earth (makes you wonder how that impacted Wormwood since there's now this large chunk of non-living earth populated with Rifts earth lifeforms from the coming of the Rifts part of it).
Fair warning: I consider being called a munchkin a highly offensive slur and do report people when they err in doing so.

It's 'canon', not 'cannon'. A cannon is a big gun like on pirate ships, canon is what you mean when referring to something as being contained within one of the books such as how many dice to roll for a stat.

Yes, but the interesting question - to me at least - is if such a thing could be used by the Host presently conquering Wormwood to expand their reach upon other worlds or dimensions, what they are normally incapable off, due to the peculiar conditions of their original imprisonment and in what circunstances they may circunvent it.

Given the Host are bound to the dimension they're summoned into even if they could seed Wormwood in other dimensions it wouldn't do them even a bit of good because they aren't bound to Wormwood but to the dimension Wormwood is in. Those seeds as it were aren't in the same dimension so the Host can't use that as a way of escaping Wormwood's dimension.

Although the SA2 city surviving is canon, I'm not entirely certain whether the chunk is independent or not. There have been cases of things coexisting in 2 different dimensions, even if in some small part, or there could be an as-yet-unidentified micro-rift connecting the center of the city to the location it was teleported from.

Do you think possessing a dark priest could be one way around that? Leave their warped bodies on wormwood but project their spirits into other dimensions in mortal hosts?

Thing about the weapons is that, if you have to enchant that resin sword or ielse t does SDC damage, then there is no way any Joe Citizen can come to your rescue. He has no way in hell to hurt monsters.
And all the humans would be dead.
Just make everything SDC. It's so much cleaner.
The SDC thing seems like a pain, really; I like the two different structural types.
You are a truly worthy foe! I shall howl a dirge in your honour and eat your heart with pride!
honestly i'd just make the 'enchanted resin' a variant that the planet itself secretes, which can be manipulated with mostly the same techniques as the normal SDC stuff, but once fully formed into shape and hardened becomes MDC and does MDC, no further work required. it would make things far easier for the setting.
just give it a different color or something to make it obvious.
