This has been a disappointing experience to say the least. With respect to what Zino posted earlier PB did not deliver on their promises. Then again its subjective I suppose. They promised better communication which they're failing at. Nobody asked for a history lesson about PB. They promised to give a big update on wave two. We all know how that turned out. They promised "mouthwatering minis". We got multi part models instead. On that last note during the kickstarter I would have appreciated being told this. It was sold as a minis game when it turned out as an add on to the rpg. I understand it was done this way because of legal reasons, but we didn't find out till a year and a half later. I didn't appreciate being mislead.

The models tend to break a bit to often. I've been playing miniature games since the early 90's and I've never had to deal with this type of constant failure.

All in all this project has soured my like for anything robotech. The scale vote and GHQ minis are used as a distraction from having a frank and honest discussion of what's happening with this project. In fact when does scale vote close? It almost feels like if 15mm were ahead, we would have been given an update that the next two eras would be done in 15mm and how super awesome it would be and we'll love it. I don't need to be told I'll love something. I'm a grown man and can decide that for myself. So no it's not a restart its... well you decide for yourself.

It is even more frustrating that after this "restart" of the conversation with backers that Palladium has found the will and time to write all of the following for a 10 day sale on their website

Spoiler:
“Christmas in July” Palladium Surprise Package – Available now through July 6, 2015

We have done Christmas in July three or four times in the past. It is our annual Christmas Surprise Package offer made available, ever so briefly, in July, for a limited time. That means your time to order is already running out, because you only have 2 weekends to get one (or several). Order yours today. And please spread the word to your friends and fellow gamers. We are only advertising the Christmas in July Surprise Package via the Palladium website, Weekly Update and word of mouth.

A number of people have been asking us to do a Christmas in July again, so we decided we would do it as the launch of the 2015 Rifts® and Robotech® anniversary celebration. Many other Anniversary special offers will follow in the weeks ahead – some will be Flash Sales with just a day or two period to make your purchase, so watch for those emails.

What is a Palladium Christmas in July Surprise Package?

An expression of appreciation and joy from us and a deal for you.

$84-$92 (often more!) worth of Palladium Books products for only $42 plus shipping and handling. You are guaranteed to get an absolute minimum of eighty-four dollars ($84) retail value in your Surprise Package. Often you get $90-$95 (for most). Sometimes much more! Santa Kevin likes to make gamers squeal with delight and often packs in $90-$100 worth of goodies into many Surprise Packages.

It’s a surprise package because you never know exactly what you’re going to get. We try to include many of the items on your “wish list,” but we will also surprise you with stuff you are not expecting. Things like a special print(s), or issues of The Rifter®, or a Palladium RPG or sourcebook(s), special edition comic book, or other items that we think you might enjoy. Plus you can ask for unusual items like a signed photograph of Kevin Siembieda, or Kevin and the staff (same as last year), or out of print books (as suggested here). All items are “hand-picked” by Kevin Siembieda from YOUR “wish list.”

NO AUTOGRAPHS, sorry. With Gen Con prep and getting new releases to the printer, the books in the Christmas in July Grab Bags will NOT be signed by Kevin and the Palladium staff (unless you send us a convincing request for them in the comment section of your order).

This Christmas in July is our way of saying thank you to our loyal fans, delivering a little Christmas cheer six months early, and celebrating 25 years of Rifts® and 30 years of Robotech®. Not to mention putting a smile on the faces of some big kids.

This is a great way to for you to fill holes in your collection, try new games and settings, catch up on The Rifter® or purchase your gaming pals the perfect present for a birthday, anniversary, graduation, house warming or other events.

When can you order? Right now!

Now till July 6, 2015. HOWEVER, we are NOT likely to ship the first batch before July 1, 2015. And remember, we always do our best to make every order truly special.

Spread the word

The Christmas in July Surprise Package lasts only 2 weekends, and is something we only do once every several years. It is only publicized by word of mouth and on Palladium's website – www.palladiumbooks.com – so please tell everyone you know. Buy one for every gamer you know and start your summer off with fun and games.

The Cost

$42.00 plus shipping and handling (usually another $10-$15), approximately $52-$60 total for most purchasers in the USA, about $15-$20 more to Canada. Shipping overseas is two or three times the cost to Canada. Our apologies to our friends outside the USA. We are only passing along the postal rates of your chosen shipping method. But it’s still a great deal. Plus, we always try to make the orders going to countries outside of North America extra special to make up for it.

Credit card orders are welcomed. Visa and MasterCard are preferred, but we accept most cards. Place orders online, by mail, or by telephone at 734-721-2903; this is an order line only.

Send Mail Orders to: Palladium Books – Dept. X – 39074 Webb Court – Westland, MI 48185-7606.

Multiple orders WILL result in some duplication.

What you get

● $84-$92 OR MORE worth of Palladium goodies. An absolute minimum of eighty-four dollars ($84) retail in Palladium product, almost always more ($89-$95)! Especially if you give us a long Wish List. Sometimes much more! Santa Kevin like to make gamers smile and blow people’s minds.

If you do NOT want to be considered for a T-shirt, please write – “No T-shirts.”
If you DO want to be considered for a T-shirt, please make sure to give us your SIZE.
Likewise, indicate if prints or artwork are welcome.
SORRY, NO AUTOGRAPHS in the Christmas in July grab bag. Since we’re so busy with Gen Con prep and trying to get new releases to the printer, the books in the July Grab Bags will NOT be signed by Kevin and the Palladium staff (unless you send us a convincing request for them in the comment section or your order).

● Each order is “hand-picked” by Kevin Siembieda from a “Wish List” YOU provide! Please list at least 10-14 items (or more) that you know are in stock for each Grab Bag you order. PLEASE do not list books you know are out of print; you will not get them.

● Special items may include some out-of-print books (only use titles suggested here), hardcover editions, miniatures, prints, art books, posters, special edition comic books, bookmarks, T-shirts, coffee mugs, greeting cards (Christmas, Birthday and other cards available) and other items.

● The July Grab Bag makes a wonderful gift for birthdays, anniversaries, graduations, weddings, house warmings, and, of course, Christmas and other special occasions for the gamers in your life. Since there will be so much in every Surprise Package, ordering just one might enable you to give books to two or more pals. Of course, you never know what we might select from your list, so that might be a little risky, but if you state your intentions in the comments, we’ll do what we can. And please, feel free to say hello and share your thoughts with us in the comments section. But please, keep them brief (not more than half a page).

● Impress your friends with a gift worth $84-$92 or more for a cost of only $42 (plus shipping and handling).

● Fill holes in your own collection or get books and product you’ve been meaning to get or have been eyeballing longingly.

● Fun and surprise. As a “grab bag/surprise package” you never know exactly what you will receive, but that’s the fun “surprise” part of this offer, and we always try to send as many of your “special wants” as we can (at least three, almost always more). Extra items may include other RPG books, The Rifter®, posters, prints, art books, a special comic book, T-shirts, greeting cards, back stock items, uncut covers, and other items or a surprise or two.

Multiple orders WILL result in some duplication.

Your “Wish List”

Important! To insure your Christmas in July Surprise Package is everything you want it to be, send us a wish list of your “wants.” The more items listed, the more likely you are to get items you want. List them in order of preference – at least 10 items per grab bag, but 14 or more is better. That way, you don’t know what you’re getting, so when the package arrives, it really is like a Christmas present, because you don’t know what it contains! Making it fun for you and easier on us. A large selection to choose from for us always makes these Grab Bags easier to pull. Thanks.

PLEASE do not ask for books you know are not yet available or out of print like Palladium Fantasy® Crimson Hardcover, Tome Grotesque™, Land of the Damned Three, or Mechanoid Space®.

Note: Santa Kev and his elves are NOT mind readers. If you do not give us a clear idea of your wants, you may be disappointed by what comes in your July Surprise Package.

You do NOT make our job easier when you say something like “I own everything, surprise me,” or “I don’t care, anything special.” It makes our job much, much more difficult. We want to make each Grab Bag special, but because we don’t know you or what books you own, like or want, we do not have a clue as to what to send you unless you give us a variety of items on your list.

Please say something like this: “I own it all, but would love any duplicate Fantasy books signed by the Palladium crew.” Or “I have most of it, surprise me with T-shirts or unique items like signed prints, T-shirts or a coffee mug, if available,” and so on. BETTER YET, list 10-14 books or specific items on your wish list for each Grab Bag you order.

Here are some ideas for your “wish list.” Make sure your “Special Wants/Wish List” is filled in on the X-Mas Surprise Package order form. Thank you.

● Art Print: Rifts® Lemuria – We have some remaining black and white Chuck Walton prints, unsigned, from Rifts Lemuria, five different. Each is 8 1/2 x 11 and suitable for framing. Note: If you do NOT want a T-shirt – write “No T-shirt.” If you do want to be considered for a T-shirt, make sure you give us your size.

REMEMBER, this is a “Surprise Package.” While Kevin Siembieda and the Palladium staff personally TRY to make each and every Surprise Package something special, we can not guarantee satisfaction. It is a “Grab Bag.” Buyers may not always be satisfied (although we seem to succeed with most) and duplication will occur with multiple orders.

Note: Some book titles may be slightly damaged (bent corner, scuffed, nicked, etc.) so we can send you MORE. Of course, we cannot control damage that may occur in the mail/shipping (Media Mail being the worst in that regard), but we do ship everything in a cardboard box or tube. Let us know if you don’t mind damaged books and we may be able to add even more items.

Method of Shipping. Ordering online allows you to select the desired method of shipping. We recommend UPS because it is fast, reliable and has tracking capabilities. It also has the lowest loss and damage statistics.

Media Mail is the least expensive, but it is also the least dependable. If you want your 2015 Christmas in July Surprise Package quickly and safely, DO NOT ship via Media Mail; use UPS or Priority Mail. Note: Rare books and one-of-a-kind items, like art, prints or gold editions, can NOT be replaced if lost or damaged in the mail.

Make sure you give us your entire, correct street address and APARTMENT NUMBER!

UPS cannot ship to a P.O. Box; provide a street address.

WARNING 1: Palladium is NOT responsible for loss if you give us an incorrect or incomplete address, or if you move before the Christmas in July Surprise Package/Grab Bag arrives.

WARNING 2: Palladium is NOT responsible for loss if you select MEDIA MAIL as your shipping method. Media Mail is the least reliable method of shipping and Palladium will not be responsible for packages shipped via Media Mail that go missing or arrive DAMAGED. We recommend UPS (especially in the USA) or a method of shipping via the United States Postal Service other than Media Mail. The risk and the loss is YOURS when you ship via Media Mail, and the items will not be replaced.
Place your orders now – you only have 2 weekends before this offer is over. We start shipping next week!
Happy Summer 2015! Thank you for sharing in our Rifts® and Robotech® Anniversary celebration – and watch for Flash Sales over the next few months.

but the 4 month sum kickstarter update total on "new" information on the outstanding and massively delayed wave 2 products has been

Spoiler:
Wave Two – by the end of 2015?

We want Wave Two out yesterday. Or even better, last year. That can’t happen. We are shooting for the end of 2015 and will do EVERYTHING we can to make that a reality. But as I hope you are beginning to understand, things are not always under our absolute control.

which wasn't even new information but rather repeating what they publicly released months earlier at adepticon. It's very frustrating to participate in a stalled project where the owners keep talking about how important we are yet don't/can't/won't devote even a 1/10th of the time they spend writing up the description of a short term sale to telling us how the last full season of effort toward fulfilling a two year delayed project (and that is assuming we're going to get it in 2015). Instead, we have a half dozen Kickstarter updates that don't actually address the kickstarter but rather peripherally related subjects including future projects. Last year, we had pics of box art, 3d prints, and even test sprues by this time in updates on wave 1. We could see that the project, however delayed, was slowly moving forward. We do NOT have that this time and frankly it makes the 2015 possible date very unlikely given the history of timelines already. It feels like we're at the June 2013 state of affairs for wave 1 currently which means we're closer to a year and a half out rather than 6 months out from full completion.
Congratulations, Palladium Books. You just threw away a customer of 28 years because of how you handled Robotech Tactics.

You are spot on Kryptt, I to cannot understand why the big vote on scale has not finished yet. It is obvious that a large majority of backers want to stay with 6mm. What next , well only a quarter of backers voted so we feel we have a mandate for change from those who did not. Give me a break 6mm itis going to be , if you are listening to your backers.

So with that wrapped up, as it could be right now, time to give us the news everyone wants.

No, not the Con Exclusives or the new metals from GHQ. Show us the progrees on the Monster, Super Valks, Fokker's valk, show us something that shows your progress on Wave 2.

The news is not good, things are delayed, fair enough tell us, be open about any issues. It might surprise yo that a lot of people may be more sympathetic, than when all they get is stony silence

I know it is a bit like the kids in the car - "Are we there yet" - but at some point you have to give in and get them ice cream, to keep them quiet for a while

Did you actually read what they posted or just superficially skim through it before posting? I suspect the latter considering the webstore entry I copy/pasted frequently refers to products that didn't EXIST the last time they had an Xmas in July (2011 from a quick google search).

Another weekly update email in my inbox and no wave 2 info in sight unfortunately. I do hope we finally see that restart of communication in addressing the actual long term concerns of backers before the one month anniversary of this supposed restart in a few days. Maybe we'll see a KS update this weekend unlike last. There are plenty of valid concerns being raised about the (at this point) 2 year delayed wave 2 products and I don't think injecting new concerns about related projects is a good idea if it happens at the expense of keeping promises regarding the outstanding project debt is the best way forward. It's odd that my first page bold large text advice of "Show, Don't tell" was only half followed so far.

Another week , another round of frustration with RRT.

Another update goes by with the usual we are so busy, we have to come in at the weekend followed by the sales pitch for grab bags - that I cannot get even if I wanted one as I am in the UK. You cannot even be bothered giving RRT its own heading, there is so little news you want to share.

I am sorry but this is a running joke now, the long. long update said that you had learnt from your mistakes in the past. Guess what whatever you did learn you are not practising it.

Simply put again, end the pointless scale vote now, it is obvious that 6mm is the clear winner. The only reason for keeping it open is that you have already decided something else and are vainly hoping that somehow the figures will be able to be manipulated to support this.

Give us the one thing the vote indirectly confirmed is uppermost in our minds for RRT - solid information on progress for wave 2. There has been progress?

I know some here will say be patient it is the PB way, but as far as I am concerned that may be, but it does not mean it is the right way.

Well, it's been over a month now since the big 19 page update where there was supposed to be a restart of communication with backers and unfortunately it has been a false start. During that month (and including in that 19 page update), not a single new piece of information regarding the topic that has dominated Robotech Tactics talk has been disseminated (wave 2). Almost as much time has passed since we got new information last about wave 2 in February as Palladium initially budgeted for the entire project in their post campaign delivery estimate revision. Palladium even has decided in the meantime not to respond to the overwhelming results of the scale poll after that didn't seem to go the way they initially campaigned/intended. Palladium has no interest in a real conversation with backers as that would involve listening and sharing, neither of which they're currently doing in the month since the "restart". I'd love to say it was a surprise but the cycle of break promise/apologize/make the same promise/break the same promise has been repeated too many times in this kickstarter's long delayed history for it to be. Ultimately, their conduct will not help the bottom line and they burn bridges with every misstep. It's a shame because the Robotech license could have been a cash machine for the company.

I think the issue now is we are closing fast on Gencon and the downtime to prepare, attend and get back to work. At best we are likely only see more plugs for the preorders given the deadline is next week.

Personally at worst I would hope they finally close the door on the scale debate and if they are following the vote, confirm what we probably knew all along , stay at 6mm. Anything else shows the vote was a complete sham.

I do think that given last week PB concentrated on the Marines sourcebook , that there will be anything for RRT apart from the above, apart from possibly touting the Gencom events. while on the subject are PB taking advantage of this and filming these demos/games to promote the game?

Please., please , please let us see if we can get one update without using the words "coming soon"

I understand your frustration with the fact that there has been no Wave 2 news, however to say they have not communicated more is blatantly not true. There have been 5 updates since the 19 page update, in just over a month. That is a lot more communication- not on the subject you wanted, but they are communicating more.

It's a LOT of communication, but it's not GOOD communication. They're the ones who talked about "restarting the conversation". And then proceed to talk about stuff that for a significant number of respondents* was a complete non-starter.

They put down a 5 week deadline on Conventional Forces, with the information needed to make an informed choice 4 weeks from deadline. Deadline's next Wednesday, and it's unclear when or if that information will be available.

And consider, yes, there have been 5 Updates since the "big one". But it's not been a "just over a month" that they haven't addressed the concerns of backers. It's been FOUR AND A HALF months since they addressed the issue in any meaningful way. And that Update (#173, which said more will be "coming in the following days"), was six weeks after the initial promise. And there's a list out there (I know, I collated it) that shows the consistent putting off of "soon" since the March 1st Update.

For some backers, they might as well have posted "Baba booey" five times, and shown photographs of water fowl. PB KNOW that people want this information (or they wouldn't keep telling us they're putting it off). That they're refusing to "communicate" that to the backers who are still owed a significant amount of product is business as usual, not a serious attempt to restart the conversation.

* Obviously, I'm not speaking for ALL backers. Some may have been interested in the scale debate. Some may be interested in the promo figures and conventional forces. But take a look in the Kickstarter commentaries, and I'd wager that there are more people vocalizing a desire for Wave 2 information over the combined total of people who desired a change in scale from PB's initial promise AND/OR are interested in CV/Promo figures. I don't think it'd be close.

having skimmed the kickstarter commentaries, i'd not say that they represent a 'significant number of backers", given they seem to be the same dozen or so people posting endlessly over and over.

They haven't restarted the conversation like they said but rather have been delaying the inevitable and interjecting other topics instead. If you have something important that you need to discuss with someone and that person keeps promising that they will but keeps flaking on keeping that promise... and then they say they want to start fresh but then avoid the topic at hand and instead keep redirecting the conversation to other things... that is more accurately classified as a distraction than a conversation. What we've had are posts that are NOT pertinent to the kickstarter at hand but rather the NEXT kickstarter while the conversation regarding what we actually FUNDED keeps getting pushed off now for over four months. Do you really not see that? Is the scale discussion important to future projects? Yes... but it should NEVER replace the discussion about the progress of the massively delayed project at hand.

You should take a look at the post with the votes. There were more responses from various individuals there asking for wave 2 information than voted for the changes Palladium proposed. Here's the link in case you missed it.

I am sorry the updates we have had are not giving much more than what people are speculating anyway about wave 2, Take the latest one some vague information about some models being ready for tooling, others being tweaked and some to be started, nowhere was the a concrete fact about the status of wave 2, it felt as though Wayne did not know what the state of play was. I know that PB are still new to the miniatures side of gaming, but they have been creating stuff for 30 years or more, so you would have thought they understood a little about project management

It is just over a year since wave 1 went to production and yet you stil have nothing to show but the chunky Lancer and the Jotun/ If you have something show us, give us some evidence of progress. Whatever happenned about the resin pieces

The PB update did not even bother putting RTT as a header (two weeks running) and the news was all about the con minis and a lament over the Commanchero, rather than anything about the Monster and Super Valks which I feel is one model a lot more people are interested in.

The 19 page epistle talked it up big about restarting the converstaion, but guess what you have to actually talk to the people to do that.

Beat me to the punch. I was going to say after skimming through those comments it's not just the same people posting endlessly. There are more people who want wave two information than they care to vote on scale. At least Wayne was able to verify what we all knew about staying in 6mm for all eras of the game with the latest update (if you can even call it that).

In the big update Kevin spoke about releasing invid later this year. Does that mean that PB is stopping with rrt for now or are they seriously trying to say that there working on wave two and this new invid game? If that the case then the scale vote was pointless and just a distraction from wave two. I just wish these "advisors" to Kevin would let him know that we as backers should be told the truth good or bad.

In the 25 years I have bought and played Palladium games, I've never seen much evidence of competent project management. I waited a decade for the repeatedly promised Beyond the Supernatural 2nd edition, and when I got it, it was missing 2 thirds the promised content (by subject, not necessarily by volume). They promised two more books to fill that out. About 15 years later I still don't have those books. Now it sounds like they don't even have clearly organized within their own house a coherently maintained database of the status and required action items of each model.

I had no expectation of getting this on time. I know Palladium better than that. It is frustrating to see them work so hard to infuriate their fan base. I don't care if wave two takes another year. I do care that they are not being open and communicative about the whole project. I care they gave us poor gaming models and blame everyone else for the failures. I care that I can't make enough off these on ebay to even be worth my time posting and shipping them much less recoup even a decent portion of the money I wasted on this. And much of that is due to their refusal to treat backers with respect and keep their word to communicate.

It looks more and more like this game will never be finished. Why would anyone aware of the issues with this product line gamble on investing in it? At the moment it is only worthwhile to those that want some cool models. As a game or gaming figurines it's a poor value for most people in part cause we have so little faith it will ever be completed.
