Nova: "With the Bolo's taken care of, we discovered that Embryo had adapted Ferengi transport targeting sensors to his dimensional shift technology."

Moran: "Where'd he get that?"

Megara: (Raising her paw) "Um, sorry, my bad..."

Everyone in court looks at the giant cat in the room.

Nova: "Back to business, with Ange taken, the Dragon Lady, Commando Dude, and Hilda went after her..."

Moran: (interrupting) "Wait! Who Ms Satori?"

Nova: (Cursing under her breath) "Sorry, those were the on site team's nicknames for Tusk and Salamandinay."

Moran: "Wait, who?"

Nova: (snapping) "OH COME ON YOU OLD SENILE <CENSORED> <CENSORED> SPONGE BRAINED <CENSORED>! DIDN'T YOU EVEN READ THE <CENSORED> BRIEFING PACKET!!!" :badbad:

Moran: (Ducking for cover)

Chairman: "Order! Order!"

Report closes as the MPs sedate Nova and drag her out of the room...

Later...

Nova: (Into recorder) "Note. From now on, Dana will be handling reports to Counsel."

Dana doing it has GOT to be better than John-117 doing it. He tends to be shorter on patience and even more likely to 'hand determine' whether or not someone *really* has both Security Clearance and Need-To-Know.

And the penalties for such an oversight, well...

EPILOGUE

Of course, Nova didn't get to finish her report... To make a long story short, Once they got their hands on him, the Forth Wall Gang tried various means to off Embryo.

Cut to: The River Styx.
Over a thousand Embryos show up at once.

Charon: OH HELL NO!!!

In the end they settled for leaving him in hell.

Cut to: Embryo reduced to the size of a Ken doll trapped in Annie's toy box.

Embryo: "So, who are you?"

Gozer the Gozarian: "Princess Sparkle-Plumb, apparently..."

Ange and Salamandinay are being trained to fly the new Sound Force Silver Siren Wing Kai Zero's.

Naomi, Hilda many of the other Arzenal pilots went on to pilot the Super Gamma Strike Unicorn 00 veritech, along with the Witches from the 501[sup]st[/sup].

Tusk falls under the 'Crouching Moron, Hidden Bad@$$' TV Trope.
Could you imagine how much trouble he'd have gotten into if he had been a Deadpan Snarker instead?

(at any of his 'run-ins' with Ange)
"Well, hello again, Miss Ange!"

(After being tied up)
"So...do this often?"

(After she blows up his fish chowder)
"You may not be able to cook, but you have a future in the explosives industry."

(After Hilda tries to 'seduce' him)
"Ah yes, at least you're WEARING your underwear and not leaving it inside sensitive machinery."

(after Salamandinay makes her 'morning coitus' question)
"Wouldn't know. We keep getting interrupted. At this rate we may just skip sex altogether and adopt."

Ah yes, Khan was annoyed that when he actually circled back to the island, somebody else had cut the REMAINING throats.
But then they had a drinking contest, and it was all good(Tusk just couldn't hold Tibetan-style tea saturated with yak* butter after the tenth mug).
Even Ange couldn't fault Tusk for falling out after imbibing a drink with an oil sheen on the top of it. Oddly enough, but not surprisingly, Vivian likes the stuff, but it's been argued that that's because DRAGONs, or maybe just Vivian, seem to have a high-efficiency metabolism that can match high-altitude-high-activity Tibetans'.

(*Actually, given that it's ICE GUARD we're talking about here, it's debatable whether the tea was fortified with actual yak butter or the butter of something else, or what else was in the mix. Even the 'tea' is under suspicion).

"This is Master Chief Sergeant John-117. I have finished paring down Darkraven's recording of his latest mission profile. In addition, Darkraven was willing to provide textual commentary and identified the individuals on the video.

"In brief, it is a world where the planet's super-powered heroes are at war with each other. Apparently some psychotic known as The Joker set off a nuke in a major metripolitan area, and was killed by that city's primary guardian. He then apparently took over the world.

"Darkraven came through the portal during his scouting mission in the middle of what would be determined to be a climactic battle."

>Darkraven's Narration<

VIDEO EXCERPT #1

Carnage everywhere. Bodies of scores of species littlered the landscape, some dressed in green, others in yellow. Overhead, other creatures clad in green and yellow were battling.

On the ground, a tall, well-built man in blue spandex, wearing a red cape, snapped his head at Darkraven's position. Sensors screamed at the thermal warning. dodging wildly to the side, he was just too slow as a pair of lasers with the intensity of high-energy plasma seared across his armor's plates, smelting huge swaths of his defenses instantly.

His sensors indicated that his armor spell had finally come up, even as the heavy rail gun on his shoulder fired. The man in blue was launched several feet away as Darkraven clambered to his feet.

>I got a lucky shot on Superman. Seriously, blind luck.<

Radar went nuts as Superman caught himself in midair, flying at Darkraven at over a thousand miles per hour. Darkraven didn't make the dodge as the armored breastplate was torn off, the armor itself spinning as (slow-motion analysis indicated) punches hammered at his helmet with an invisible speed.

>At this point, I was swearing in Gobblely. you can't hear it over the pounding, but I was.<

Suddenly the helmet was gone, and Superman gazed into the face of his opponent.

"Who are you?" Superman demanded, his eyes glowing red.

There was no response.

>At that point, I was concussed and unconscious. The feed says Superman hit me in the helmet fifteen times in less than a second, so yeah. But the eye was recording both audio and visual, and my eyes were still a bit open.<

Superman dropped the unconscious body. "I think I have one of Batman's new goons here. Pick him up for interrogation."

He flew off, and a few minutes later a man dressed entirely in red, with a white lightning bolt on his chest and a white short cape and hood descended. Picking up Darkraven, he flew off, gently closing his unseeing eyes before flying off.

>That guy goes by the name Shazam. Apparently his real name's Billy. That guys is seriously the nicest guy I have ever met<

Out of the corner of the video, automatic focus came into play. A huge green and white planet, on the other side of the moon, was moving quickly away from Earth. Extreme magnification showed Superman *pushing* the planet at nearly superluminal speeds into the sun.

Several hours later, Darkraven came to. Groaning, trying to will the double vision away, he saw blurred figures in front of him. The one in yellow stated, "Superman, he awakens."

"Thank you Sinestro," a larger yellow blur stated, stepping forward. "Who are you, and what was your part in the battle?"

"Wha-?" Darkraven eloquently replied. "Wha baddle?"

"I think he's concussed," a different blur, this one in red, blue, and gold with a feminine voice stated. "Look at his eyes. He's either drugged or has a concussion. I recommend we have a healer look at him before we continue the interrogation."

A yellow glow enveloped Darkraven, a glow that originated from Sinestro. "My power ring agrees with you, Wonder Woman. It seems that Superman's assault has addled him a bit."

"I have something for this," Wonder Woman replied, pulling a device out of a case.

With a gentle glow of purple light, Darkraven's vision cleared, his head stopped throbbing, and his cycbereye's sensors came online.

>Yeah, the cybereye was only in recordning mode. Until Diana pulled out the Purple Healing Ray device, I was completely hosed.<

"Okay, I feel less like ground meat," Darkraven grunted out. "So, someone had a question for me?"

"I did," Superman said, stepping up and lifting Darkraven by his flightsuit collar. He heard clinking behind him, and now felt the manacles on his wrists.

"Who are you? What part were you to play in the battle?"

"My name is Jeremiah Darkraven, United Earth Expeditionary Forces, Dimensional Division. My social is 7833-4176Aleph. I am a dimensional explorer who was sent here to check out this planet. I didn't know about the battle until after I was in the middle of it."

"Then why did you shoot at me?" Superman demanded, his eyes glowing red.

"BECAUSE YOU SHOT EYE LASERS AT ME, JACK@$$!" Darkraven screamed directly into Superman's face.

Superman blinked, then slowly lowered Darkraven. "You're right, I did. Okay. I want to apologize for that."

"Apology accepted," Darkraven replied, adusting out the flightsuit wedgie. "Let's chalk that one up to a combination of wrong place and the fog of war, shall we? Now, where is my armor?"

"Still on the battlefield," Sinestro replied, a faint sneer in his voice. "Superman destroyed it extracting you."

"Damn, that's not good. Destruction protocols would've went into effect. There goes a few million in upgrades up in nuclear fire."

Sinestro turned to look at Superman. "I don't believe his story. It's too simple, too easy. And even if it's true, he's clearly military. I say we interrogate him until he tells us everything we need to stay secure."

"I don't think that'll be necessary at this point, Sinestro," Superman calmly stated. "He's in the cell, completely disarmed. We can question him after the battle damage is calculated. Darkraven... Is that *really* your name?"

Darkraven shrugged. "My grandfather thought it was cool. Could've been worse. My father's best friend's father thought that Rockatansky was the ultimate in cool."

Most of the group looked at him blankly, until Hal Jordan snickered. "Which one was named Max?"

"The grandson," Darkraven groaned out. "Seriously, our family names are full of bad jokes like that."

"I see," Superman replied, the shadow of a smile at his lips. "We'll leave you here for now under guard. I hope you won't start any trouble."

"So long as my guard isn't Mr. Manscape over there, I'll be fine."

"What are you trying to say?" Sinestro demanded, his yellow ring glowing.

"Nothing, really," Darkraven smirked out. "It's just that for a man to be a flawless with his hair as you are, it tends to say something about his... preferences."

"Sinestro is a trusted and valued ally," Superman interjected, holding up a hand.

"Hey, I understand," Darkraven replied, seriousness heavy in his voice. "I'm sure you can trust him to have your back. But with all the manscaping, can you trust him to have *her* back?" he asked, pointing at Wonder Woman."

At this point, Sinestro was being held back by Hal Jordan and Shazam, snarling out the punishments he would rain down upon the human.

"Now, please don't make this any worse. Sinestro has a rather... inventive set of techniques to deal with people who anger him," Superman said grimly even as Sinestro was dragged from the room.

"Oh, I'm not. I just didn't care for his unseemly haste in what clearly appears to be a military operation. Specifically, the after-action reports," Darkraven replied, his voice completely devoid of humor. "It show a lack of discipline, as well as that he may well be hiding something."

"I understand. We'll talk later."

"One favor please?" Superman's eyebrow quirked. "I'm still on a fact-finding mission here. Could I check out the publicly accessible media while I wait?"

"Certainly. I'll have Shazam bring in something while he stands guard."

And yes, I wrote this in order to be able to use two lines. Seriously, I went there.

Frank Miller's

Thankfully for the sake of this tale, a different Batman. Miller's Batman was AWESOME. Injustice's Batman is a bit... less so.

Guy's been ripped out of his armor, is surrounded by the powerhouses of the Justice League, and he's ripping on SINESTRO?
He still concussed or something? Or just newly(and unjustifiably) confident that this Superman's not going to let him get smacked around by Sinestro?
Kinda surprised Diana didn't just go expedient and use the Lariat of Truth on him....

Kinda surprised Diana didn't just go expedient and use the Lariat of Truth on him....

Concussed? Sort of. Psychological effects of concussion can outlast the damage itself. Confidence? Not really. He tends to suffer from a distinct lack of oral filter. Chalk it up to his tendency to be alone a LOT on missions. Add to that the fact that he really has no idea what kind of overpowered mess he's been dropped into, and suddenly the dynamic changes a bit. After all, DC is one of the most powerful settings in print.

And yes, eventually Diana will use her lariat on him. I'm still working on a way to make it funny.

The WHOLE thing should be under suspicion!

wyrmraker wrote:"This is Master Chief Sergeant John-117.

***

And yes, I wrote this in order to be able to use two lines. Seriously, I went there.

Wow. Awesome job! Hope to see a continuation of this soon! And maybe also one of Assassination Classroom also!

Thankfully for the sake of this tale, a different Batman. Miller's Batman was AWESOME. Injustice's Batman is a bit... less so.

The main reason Diana didn't use the Lariat of Truth on him was because they were still picking up the pieces. It's the end of the Year Two section of Injustice. After demolishing the Green Lantern Corps (along with Mogo and Ganthet), they have to figure out which allies and enemies have survived. Standard post-battle procedures. After a few days, they'll be back for more questioning.

Well, maybe by Diana making the mistake of phrasing her questions wrong, such that they could be interpreted to give the questionee too much leeway, or leave to spout off too much information. She could be in a hurry, or disturbed by the recent crisis enough that she's slipped up a bit, and it manifests itself in small ways, like being a little loose in phrasing.

I'm not going to do a continuation of Assassination Classroom, Alpha11. While he stands a chance against middle-schoolers, he woudn't stand any kind of chance against a guy accustomed to real assassination methodology in the futuristic battlefield. Dude would get dead fast with Darkraven assigned to the job. And above all else, when on that sort of job, Darkraven is *efficient*.

My greatest challenge is to put Darkraven in situations where it's hilarious. Which is where the Manscaping lines came in, as well as "YOU SHOT ME WITH EYE LASERS, JACK@$$!" lines come from. Because they're hysterical.

Also, John constantine is cursed. The entire family line is cursed. Sadly, you have to read the Hellblazer comic series to fully appreciate just how thoroughly and completely boned he truly is. The movie was crap, and the recent TV series was decent. But the Vertigo comics really put it down right.

Two general questions for the thread-goers. First, approximately what year would this be set in (rough estimation is best)? Second, what *exactly* does UEsG stand for? I think it was mentioned WAY back in the thread, but I can't remember it.

1) I have no idea...when Crossovers bled into Bloopers, any concept of a timeline of events from the original Evangelion/Robotech crossover was lost...Speaking of lost, when last we heard of them, the SDF-3 was still lost and a youthened(via a stint in MIng the Merciless's 'rejuvenation chamber') Lisa Hunter was pregnant. BY real-ti,e(i.e. OUR time) that child's likely already been born and is playing with crayons by now). So...given the vagaries of space/time, it could be OUR time, or it could be collapsed/expanded time.

2) UEsG stands for United Earths Governments...sort of a United Nations of the Robotech-unified dimensions, bound by mutual defense and trade treaties. Baseline Robotech Earth and Baseline Evangelion Earth were the first members. I HAVE a list of the other early members somewhere on my hard drive, but can't find it right now....all I remember is that Appleseed Earth was another early member, and possibly the UNSC.

Thanks taalismn. That answers a few bits I was hoping to work into Darkraven's story. Very important story bits.

On a seperate note, I was quite disappointed with the UEEF Marines book. The MDC values (armor and weapons) seemed rather on the low side for a space-faring military fighting for survival at all costs. But maybe that's just my view on matters.

The book was a mixed bowl for me. I was really grateful for the new material, but the red-penciler in me began to take stock of things. The art on first glance looks nice, until you start noticing awkward angles, forced junctures of parts, and failure to match up with the stats, which were warmed up left overs from the Sentinels 1ed. The other major disappointment was the timeline, which contradicts a good deal of what is now the emergent canon(w/ the Prelude to the SC comics included). I never really liked the whole 'caught in Foldspace for three years' plot device, and the last line about Exedore being on Haydon IV when the Awareness awakens, ignores the PttSC in that Exedore is on the Decaulion alongside Janice and is thus killed(as no mention of survivors is made in the Shadow Chronicles), plus the fact that the Awareness is apparently ALREADY awake and plotting the demise of the Protoculture-addicts.
Given the time that this book was in production, it should have been tighter, cleaner, meaner and more creative. as a back-up they should have devoted effort to a Spaceships book; if they didn't have to go out on a limb for the newer, as yet undefined, ships like the Horizon-X , SDF-3, and Ark Angel, they would have had less trouble doing the Zentraedi, Tirolian, and Southern Cross ships, which by now have been fan-analyzed and tested to destruction.

I'll not disagree with any of that. Heaven forbid the writers and such use the fan materials. Never mind that the fans tend to me more psychotically obsessed about every little detail than book writers.

wyrmraker wrote:I'm not going to do a continuation of Assassination Classroom, Alpha11.

I still think it would be funny with him there. And even with his gear, I'm almost positive he'd have a hard time with that teacher. He'd have to special order/make something, just to kill him. And as it was written, he was going there on recon, not to kill the teacher. But, if you say no, then I guess I'll have to live with it. :( :-( As for Constantine, man, I feel sorry for that guy.

I also think Gold Digger was one of the early ones, along with the A-KO universe. Funny think is, I don't think the big 2, Star Trek or Star Wars are part of it. Don't think we went into them all that much. Though I could be remembering things wrong.

Darkraven: "What? Who?

 This should be interesting.

Wouldn't that be HG falt there with the time line and all? They oked it.

I'll not disagree with any of that. Heaven forbid the writers and such use the fan materials. Never mind that the fans tend to me more psychotically obsessed about every little detail than book writers.

I'll have to also agree. I had thought they had gotten rid of the years long fold as to get away for then books time line, and now they are using it. And I've never really come across these fans. Must be some good luck on my part.

Gate Room - Mid-Morning...

A portal spontaneously flares to life ... The destroid pilot on duty was just a fraction of a second too slow on firing the missile. He barely had time to eject as Mary Marvel rammed his mecha full force.

Mary: (Turning back toward the portal) "ZEE! I'M IN!!!"

Mary Marvel turned her head back just in time to get punched back through the portal...

A-Ko: "Great, I'm going to be late for school AGAIN!"

  MARVLE INV-..., that was quick. You know, if its a stable gate in one location, couldn't they put something up like an iris, like they have in Stargate?

With all the potential things that could come through, what would you make it from? Consiquencally, the UEsG opted for defense in depth.

If A-Ko didn't stop it, a claymore mine filled with a denatured* derivative of Akane Tendo's cooking was next.

*Because if it was full strength and got loose, they'd have TWO major problems loose, instead of one.

At the minimum, it might give them a little extra time to prepare.

   :? But, wouldn't it be bad to use WMD's, to what amounts to, most likely, inside a military base, and close to, also, most likely, a civilian population?

The Exploration Section of the Gate Terminal is built like the reverse of a Fortress. Rather then keep someone out, its built to keep things in. Its also built well away from civilian population centers. Except for MHS# 69, which for reasons the UEsG refuses to go into detail about, was built only a block away...
