Ran a Chaos Earth game last weekend and mixed in Dead Reign. It was super fun. Mixing the two books (DR and CE) works nicely.
Looking forward to this book.

We did this as well a few years ago, and absolutely loved it. I can't wait to see this come out- especially if it has more detail to add to the world at that time. I hope to see the setting "Fleshed out". (ahhh ahhh.. fleshhhhhhh)

Speaking of head shots.....and Zombies.
In the DR/CE game we are playing, several of the player characters (non military average citizens in the game) picked up rifles and shot down a long hallway at zombies. The players all said, "I'm doing a Head Shot"!
They are used to playing Rifts so when I told them what they had to roll to hit everyone was, "What! Why?"
In real life, in our 10 person game group, I am the only one who is prior military and still uses guns at work.
I planned a day to take them to the Range to let them shot a rifle at a target head.
I expect it will be fun. Head shots are hard --- unless you are a Rifts character with +6 or +12 to strike

Re: Chaos Earth: Resurrection
Except dead reign requires it to be both a called shot as normal.. but also only a nat17-20 hits. Which takes headshots to 'darn near impossible' even for a rifts char..

That's a 1 in 5 chance of hitting, not near impossible, just inconvenient, and utterly disregarding the benefit of skill or technology in making a shot.

The only advantage in this combination setting, is that point blank damage rules will help drop some zombies in a non-lethal way.

By dead reign rules, if you try to head shot a zombie, you have to roll a natural 17-20.

So dealing 1200mega damage would have no effect??
Or area attacks dealing 600-700 md wouldn't work either??

Zombie have AR again MD weapons, so yes you could hit for 1200 MD and not drop the zombie.

Re: Chaos Earth: Resurrection
I crit on a 12 roll, um since the beginning of ar bonuses to strike apply.
And common sense would dictate 1200md in one hit kills most things.
Squished or pulped 1200md isn't a but the book says this type of thing.
Also supernatural creatures damage other supernatural creatures.
A dragon could easily kill a zombie.
A dragon could eadily kill a hundred zombies.

Re: Chaos Earth: Resurrection
For DR zombies, head shots get no bonuses.
If your 1200 MD took of an arm, WHOOPIE, the zombie is still there. If it hit the torso, than thats one nice hole you just made through the zombie. Against other supernatural creatures they still get AR 14 (or 15 cant remember which) and the zombie are MD monsters with supernatural strength dont forget.

A few hundred mdc at most. Most likely less.
The unkillableness of dr zombies is hype and bad editing.
And a Glitterboy putting 3D6x10md into a zombie would vaporize it.
Maybe a piece or two twitching, maybe.

Re: Chaos Earth: Resurrection
Having just read the DR head shot rules... they are rather inconsistent, yes in one spot it says natural rolls only. In others you get range bonus, get to add skill and pp bonus. Here is the thing most get wrong. For palladium modern weapon rules, you don't add h2h bonuses. The only bonus you get is from W.P., P.P. , and skills that specifically boost to hit rolls for modern range weapons. So if your human average P.P. bonus is +0, and max bonus for a level 15 character is +7 when shooting +9 or +11 if sniping is used on called/aimed shots. While a level 15 sword master is at +9. Thing is called shots take 2 actions, and a aimed called shot takes 3 actions. That master swordsman gets his +9 all times.

actually PP bonuses do not apply to modern ranged weapons. just ancient ones like bows, crossbows, and thrown daggers/darts/etc.

I got a sense that natural ARs in SDC settings don't apply when a being is MDC-converted to other settings, something about MD always bypassing natural ARs. Only traditional coverage-based ARs were kept, not natural ones, I had thought.
I love the idea of keeping natural AR intact in all cases as a house rule though.

Re: Chaos Earth: Resurrection
none of those rules have anything to do with Chaos Earth.
There's no AR. CE zombies are MDC creatures.
Unless it gets changed in editing, none of the Dead Reign rules are applied to Chaos Earth.
It's an entirely different game with entirely different zombies and entirely different rules for those zombies.

I gm mdc zombies as sdc deals classic zombie no damage, just messes up the cosmetics.
Mdc attacks deal damage but the zombies fight until -50mdc and don't die until -100mdc.
So -50mdc blows them apart, twitching pieces, biting head etc, -100mdc the twitchy parts are vaporized.
I like the Return of the Living Dead zombies, unkillableness and intelligent the best.
But md weapons are like a hundred times more powerful than current weapons so they damage them.

I can't wait to see ANY new Chaos Earth book. I can buy a MDC laser punching a neat hole in a zombie, but Plasma, or a railgun should do some major damage. If a baseball bat to the head kills it then a MDC explosion or any area effect weapon should as well.

Do we know for sure that Nxla didn't get summoned to Earth by Harvesters in Chaos Earth?
Obv. if that happened Psyscape sent him back... but maybe he only managed Harvesters/Xombies but not an actual foothold?
Would like to see multiple undead parties competing in Resurrection. Nxla's Xombies, Brulyx's Dead Reign, Death Demons, Strigoi's Plague Zombies... missing anything?

At first I was actually interested in seeing a new Chaos Earth supplement come out, but zombies? Really? I, mean, sure it could happen as Chaos Earth is a high magic environment and I'm sure there would be Necromancers, but a full on zombie plague? Nope, not buyin' it. And I mean that in both senses of the word, I'm not buying the book and I don't buy the story either.

Re: Chaos Earth: Resurrection
In the last weekly update it was mentioned that Chaos Earth Resurrection would be usable with Heroes Unlimited. Does anyone know if this means that there will be material in Chaos Earth Resurrection that deals with it being used with Heroes Unlimited or that it is just usable like most of Palladium's products are generally usable with each other?

Re: Chaos Earth: Resurrection
I just purchased this book off of DTRPG, and I have to give credit when and where credit is due. I have not yet had a chance to read any of it.
But the artwork is awesome!

Zombies will be MD in Chaos Earth, I believe.

These zombies will be. The invocation zombies are still SDC which is what I think he was talking about.
The rules are not a bludgeon with which to hammer a character into a game. They are a guide to how a group of friends can get together to weave a collective story that entertains everyone involved. We forget that at our peril.
