Darkraven swore loudly at the announcement of assigned combat duties. Rolling off his bunk, he grabbed his spare equipment, including his old CS armor that he'd had modified many years prior. Hoping beyond hope that Breetai would remember the new equipment that a sparse handful of personnel had been supplied, he dressed and dashed out towards the gate.

"Darkraven to Command Bolo. I am initiating Active Intel Override, authorization Aleph-7. Confirm."

"Aleph-7 authorization provisionally approved. Go ahead."

"Alter targeting strategy. Breetai is still on Superman, but only if he has the equipment from the Aleph Issuance. Have Potter back him up with buffing spells.

All Bolos maintain Hellbore firing on Yellow Lantern personnel. Designate A-Ko and B-Ko on Power Girl and Supergirl, and issue B-Ko the armor she redesigned for me. Keep me on Shazam."

If the gate is still open, other opponents will come through. Be wary of the Flash coming through. Area denial coverage is best with him; break out the riot control foam and be liberal with it. We don't need him breaking the sound barrier in a corridor on a space station"

"Understood. And Target Designate Wonder Woman?"

Darkraven smiled inside of his helmet, even as he saw the feeds from the hangar where the Regime had made their entrance. "Oh, I got something for her. I am heading to the Knocker control room now. Be prepared to activate it on my signal."

"Understood, sir. Any other orders?"

"Yes. We are now on Full Blackout Alert, as per orders from Anatole Leonard. Confirm."

"Confirming... confirming... confirming... Blackout Alert confirmed, as per orders from Field Marshall Leonard."

"Excellent. One last order. Things are going to get very violent in there. Be prepared to jettison the entire docking structure if the fight begins to spread past it. Also be prepared to effect Nova Containment protocols."

"Understood, sergeant."

Okay. Sorry I haven't continued with Darkraven checking out the Injustice world. It's kind of tricky maneuvering him within that world. But I have figured out exactly why he had Leonard put down a full intel blackout on his report. I'll hit that in my next post.

This fight has been assembling itself in my head for a while now. SRoss kind of jump started it, and I am following up on it with a slightly adjusted roster from the Injustice comic series.
***
Breetai grinned as he rolled his shoulder. He'd heard tales of this particular micronian, and the warrior deep within him burned to test it's mettle.

But now, with the new items Darkraven had provided after a trip to the micronian's world, Breetai was truly eager to get his hands dirty once more. Too long had he commanded from orbit, giving orders as the rank and file Zentraedi reaped their glory.

With a swallow, he felt the tiny green capsule marked 5-U-93-R dissolve into his system. He could feel his entire body supercharge, the nearly infinite strength coursing through his limbs as his first punch slammed into Superman, the mystically imbued gauntlets (also provided by Darkraven) bypassing Superman's legendary 'invulnerability' as the kryptonian flew away, imbedded into a stanchion.

Finally, an enjoyable fight. Breetai approved of this.
***
Opening a radio frequency, Darkraven called out, "Darkraven to Oracle. Are you on?"

"Oracle here. Your signal is slightly distorted from the portal's interference, but I am compensating."

"The Regime is here. Are your people ready?"

"Oh yeah. She's been champing hard at the bit, training extensively under the effects of the superpill. The others you recommended are here as well."

"Excellent. Your new contact is known as Bolo. He will be coordinating and providing targeting assignments. Once he opens our portal, your people will have 28 seconds to get through."

"I got you, Darkraven. We are ready and waiting."

Power Girl and Supergirl were having a serious problem. The redhead was as powerful as each of them, and seemed to have Amazonian combat training on top of the power. The japanese girl in the power armor was ridiculously fast, fully armed with weaponry that seemed custom-built to combat kryptonians, and drastically well protected for being what seemed to be a mankini with a shoulder cannon.

Heat vision, arctic breath, super speed, nothing was working on this pair who flowed in and out of combat maneuvers as if they'd trained together for longer than they appeared to be alive.

This fight would not end well.
***
"So lemme see if I got this straight."

Sinestro sighed, blocking another Hellbore blast. "What IS it, Jordan?"

"We're in another universe."

"Obviously."

"The gate is now closed."

"Mmm-hmm," Sinestro replied, trying to get past the bolo's energized battlescreens with little success.

"We're surrounded by professional soldiers who aren't flinching at all at the sight of us."

"Correct."

"Aaand we're now on personal power because we're cut off from the Yellow Battery."

Sinestro blinked. "Wait, what?"

"Yeah, no Yellow Battery, and troops that are so far into PTSD that they might as well be sociopaths. And the tanks are using capital ship cannons as regular field pieces. How long before we're dead?"

Sinestro gnawed the inside of his cheek for a moment, weighing options. "We run."

"Yeah, about that..." Hal Jordan pointed over to where the massively built blue man was beating Superman against a bulkhead.

And the bulkhead wasn't denting.
***
Princess Diana of Themiscrya had had a rough couple of years. Between Superman taking his rightful place in guiding humanity, Batman's geurilla warfare tactics, her mystically enforced sleep, and then the Greek Gods getting involved, warrior tho she was, she felt like she needed a bit of a vacation.

Today, Superman had wanted to pre-emptively shatter the confidence of this dimension-spanning military force that had been represented by a lone scout on their world. Even under the effects of the Lasso of Truth his story hadn't changed, so she was inclined to believe that his appearance there was not only benign, but really poor, accidental timing.

And now here she was, parrying energy blasts with her bracelets. It was all she could do to keep up with the withering barrage.

The shooting stopped. For a moment, all was still near her. She could hear the sounds of pitched combat in other areas, but not near her own position.

A loud explosion erupted behind her. Spinning, sword in hand to face this new threat, she gazed into a new portal, a green one that was opening up. And then a well manicured foot flashed at her, planting itself in her face before kicking off.

Jerking back, Wonder Woman tried to track the person, but it was too fast until it landed.

There, on the deck, stood a tall chinese woman in leggings, a a simple silk shirt, and a long coat.

"Amazon," she declared, "today you fight Lady Shiva."

Darkraven slid to a stop as soon as he'd rounded the corner. There was Shazam, clad in his usual white and red, looking around curiously.

"Hey, Shazam. It doesn't have to go down like this, man."

Shazam's eyes snapped to Darkraven. There was no anger on his face, only tired resignation. "I'm afraid it does. Superman wants to warn your people off, and we're here to make sure it happens."

Darkraven sighed, shaking his head. "Don't you see? He's just using this as an excuse to pick a fight with people. And lemme tell you, things are not going as well as he would've hoped. This is not the curbstomp he counted on."

"What do you mean?"

Darkraven stepped up to a wall, keying commands into a hidden console. Instantly a monitor slid out, displaying the various fights.

Superman versus Breetai. Superman's left arm was broken, while Breetai's ribs were exposed, the flesh boiled away. Neither were slowing down. It so happened that Breetai's extended time of warfare across a thousand worlds fighting dozens of species had taught him a thing or two. Superman was more of a brute force fighter.

A-Ko and B-Ko versus Power Girl and Supergirl. That fight was already over, the two kryptonians covered in bruises and cuts, now being bound in odd looking manacles as the two winners were bickering how the other had gotten in their way.

Bolos versus the Yellow Lanterns. Jordan was still fighting, pure willpower keeping his ring going. Sinestro had oddly surrendered.

Wonder Woman versus Lady Shiva. That fight was getting epic. Wonder Woman's sword and shield were in pieces from Shiva's Leopard Fist strikes, Shiva's coat was now a midriff jacket. The pair were exchanging blows at a rate that would later only be properly analyzed at five thousand frames per second. Blood and bruises seemingly appeared from nowhere. Wonder Woman looked focused, concentrating grimly on her opponent. Shiva looked to be in a state of ecstacy, finally being able to face a truly worthy, battle-hardened opponent on a level playing field.

"You see? Your portal has been closed, over half of your forces are down, the rest are on the ropes. Fortunately I had enough intel access to arrange for the proper greeting if your Regime came calling on us. The files that Batman gave me once Harley broke me out of the Hall of Justice were most helpful."

Shazam frowned, his mouth working in thought. "We're not allowed to fail. We have to keep peace on our world."

"At what cost? Seriously, I am a military sniper by my original training. I understand keeping peace by taking out enemies of the state. But Superman has your Earth under the peace of the prison house, not the peace of everyone getting along. Is that really acceptable?"

"The Wisdom of Solomon says that it is."

"And Solomon died before Christ, so that puts his wisdom sorely out of date. What do *you* think about it? You, one of the very few with no blood on your hands?"

"I've had my doubts," Shazam admitted. "But I am dedicated. I will go past you, and help out my team."

"Fine. Bring it."

"SHAZAM!"

Lightning coalesced around Shazam's hands, forced into a channel aimed at Darkraven. The living lightning flashed out, even as Darkraven uttered two commands.

His hands flashed forward, one catching the lightining, the other launching it back to it's originator. The surprise was evident in Shazam's eyes as the bolt caught him fully on the chest. In a flash, blinking confusedly, where once a tall, mightily built man stood was now a weedy, short twelve year old boy.

Who was promptly knocked unconscious with a tap from a neural mace.

"You know," Darkraven murmured to himself, "I really didn't think that would work."

Too true. Targeted Deflection was a TW enhancement he had put on his CS armor way back in the original game. I actually had to hunt down the notebook with Darkraven's character sheet to find out what he did and didn't have.

Although I freely admit to having cheaped out with Shazam.

Outside the Gate Complex Desdemona Satori-Brown clinched and unclinched her hands. Up til now she hadn't gone into combat in anything bigger then a Garland. Now she sat in the capsule of an EVA, the infamous Unit 66 Mk. 6, but it look like she was going to be needed. Then one of the Bolo's exploded.

Using the EVA's enhanced vision, Desdemona quickly saw the cause... Agents of the Penguin Empire! They were using the chaos to mount their own raid.

Desdemona: (Smiling as her EVA snarled in anticipation) "Penguin Empire! I'd stomp these guys even if I wasn't in an EVA..."

I like the Harley+Bruce matchup in 'Bruce Has a Problem..." better, I admit, if only because we also get Alfred +Hypolita(the entire sequence where Bruce finds Alfred necking with Diana's mom is ...well. Oh, and Doctor Victor Freze as Reformed Supervillain and Gentleman Snarker, Arkham under competent management, and Gordon for Mayor? :ok: :ok: :ok:

Alfred Pennyworth is my hero.....the man has the utmost respect of all the traditional Gotham Rogues(except maybe the Joker, but even he doesn't target Alfred in any of his schemes).
And the 'Big O' anime filling the same role in the Batman universe as Batman media does in our own....priceless...

Still going. I've been tossing this fight around in my head today, so I figured I'd drop in the lead up.
***
The Command Bolo was getting reports from all sections. Breetai had just beaten eleven levels of tar out of Superman, and it was taking four NON-micronized zentraedi to peel their commander off. The two kryptonians were now shackled and deposited in holding cells, one Yellow Lantern had surrendered, the other had seemingly run out of power and was now being tended to by medics after a graze from a hellbore. Shazam had been somehow turned into a 12 year old boy (almost all of the Bolos hated how little magic made sense), had been bound and gagged by Darkraven, and was now in a holding cell.

Shiva (marked as Friendly on IFF) and Wonder Woman were still fighting, but the Bolo calculated a 86% chance of Shiva being victorious. That was up by more than 30% from her arrival.

"Bolo, this is Oracle. You have incoming! Raven is re-opening the portal, and is sending through Bane, Cyborg, Killer Frost, and Solomon Grundy. I am sending reinforcements, but they will arrive a few minutes later."

"Understood, Oracle," the bolo replied, already reviewing the files that Darkraven had brought back. "Will your team have communications devices?"

"Yes. I am sending you the frequency now."

"Appreciated. Marking that frequency on IFF protocols."

Problem is, a hacking war would be virtually invisible unless secondary systems on both of them were spasming as a side effect.

I think Superman and the other girls went down to easily. Remember, Lex has krptonian weapons and stuff, and he still can't bet Superman. Just a thought, but other then that, still a good read.

They didn't actually go down too easily (except for maybe Shazam, but I cheaped out there). Remember that Breetai is a warrior of countless military campaigns, skilled in nearly every form of warfare imaginable. Then give him the same level of strength and durability as Superman (that's what the superpill does). Limit the combat space (like on an enclosed spacedock) and give Breetai enchanted brass knuckles (magic actually completely bypasses a kryptonian's defenses by canon). Suddenly that fight becomes a lot more interesting. It's the same with Powergirl and Supergirl versus A-ko and B-ko. A-ko's parents are Superman and Wonder woman (according to the hints in the anime), and B-ko is wearing a full technological battlesuit enhanced with magic in this fight. add in the time A-ko and B-ko have been fighting each other, and it really becomes a one-sided battle.

Wonder Woman versus Shiva (who is dosed up on the super pill) on the other hand... THAT is a fight I'm still fully assembling in my head.

Still going. I couldn't let the fight end with just the ringleaders. Now I have to get a little innovative.
***
Barbara Gordon, full time Oracle and now part time Batgirl, surveyed the crew she was about to send through the portal. Harley was 100% up for it; she always was. The others the she insisted on bringing along however...

She remembered when Harley 'rescued' Darkraven and brought him to the Tower of Fate. She and one of her old henchmen somehow broke into the Hall of Justice, 'liberate' the prisoner, and bring him in. Batman thought that she'd lost her mind (more than the normal Harley amount), Doctor Fate was a little leery of the new presence, and even Detective Chimp was hesitant to include Darkraven on their strategy sessions. The only one who seemed happy to see him was John Constantine.

Well, until Constantine was against the wall with a handgun pressed against his temple. It seemed that the Legend of John Constantine had spread beyond their world. Darkraven's world had heard of him as well. A great deal more than she had as Oracle.

Once things settled down, and Darkraven's ruined armor returned to him (Batman had somehow overriden the self-destruct protocols), it turned out that Darkraven was an excellent strategist. Mouthy, insulting, but honest in his summations. Once he had access to Batman's files, he began devising new strategies, formulating weak points, choke points, and telling the Insurgency about extremely advanced geurilla warfare tactics.

He seemed very annoyed at Bruce's desire to bring Superman in for justice. In fact, he popped Batman a couple of times for being too soft, for getting so many good people killed out of his sense of 'justice and mercy'.

Darkraven was rather merciless about that.

However, given his initial distrust of Constantine, they met several times in secret, out of the way locations. Barbara was pretty sure that some hidden arrangement was concocted between the two of them, but damned if she could figure out what it was.

But for now, Darkraven's plan was working better than she'd thought. Bolo was feeding her telemetry and video, and things were going quite well. Unfortunately, Superman had left standing orders with the Regime. And now the UEsG was facing some innovative powerhouses. Cyborg would be problematic in ways they probably wouldn't be prepared for. Killer Frost was nasty in elemental ways, Solomon Grundy was an undead powerhouse, and Bane would be even worse to deal with than Grundy. She just hoped her backup would turn the tide.

At least the Flash was nowhere to be found. Rumor had it he was in hiding considering the events, thoroughly doubt-ridden over Superman's extremist actions.

EDIT: I am using the New Earth chronology for the various players here. I severely dislike how DC 'conveniently' ignores a lot of the characters. It's a big part of why I threw Lady Shiva into this, and probaboly a big reason why DC left her and many others out. Shiva, Ras Al'Ghul, Wildcat, and Richard Dragon on the super pill? How nasty would that get? Not to mention the new Blue Beetle (he is actually powerful enough to take down Green Lanterns), Mister Terrific (holy crap, this guy would be insane), or the original Green Lantern, Alan Scott? Seriously, the Regime wouldn't last more than a week.

Walter peered over the console in terror as he watched the hulking figure take a point blank centre mass hit from a Hellbore and keep charging. With a roar, Grundy tore the weapon off the Bolo and used it to lever the cybertank on it's side. Walter was frozen with fear as the window frosted over and shattered.

At the last minute a hairy arm pulled him to safety...

"Is that guy alright?" Angel asked as Sam ducked back behind the armoured dividing wall.

"I think he's just in shock!"

Nope. Merely the legend of John Constantine. In our Rifts game, Constantine was solidly in the Lore: Magic category. And if you're properly familiar with John Constantine's background, his legend across the multiverse makes perfect sense.

Flying Snow stood hands behind his back staring out the starships window portal, dressed in dark grey fatigues and a light grey wife beater t-shirt, anyone who has seen a persons reaction to the first time they see space even in orbit to Earth.

Awestruck and purring loudly the catman took in the magnificent sight.

Nope. Merely the legend of John Constantine. In our Rifts game, Constantine was solidly in the Lore: Magic category. And if you're properly familiar with John Constantine's background, his legend across the multiverse makes perfect sense.

 Wow. That big?

Now that was want I needed, details! Thanks!

Another great read! Keep it up!

Wonder Woman ducked under Shiva's kick, angling for a punch at the woman's tailbone. She was almost in position when Shiva's foot reversed, slamming into the amazon's exposed back, sending her down to bounce off of the deck plating, and then the other foot flashed up, Shiva's shin compressing hard enough into Wonder Woman's chest to impact with her sternum. Wonder Woman felt her ribs separate momentarily, but rolled with the kick, getting her feet back under her.

A momentary pause in the battle allowed her to consider her options. Sword and shield were both shattered, the Lasso of Truth had actually been more of a hindrance than anything else (if she had taken Cyborg, Robin, and the Flash up on their offer of Kung Fu movie night, she would have been more aware of martial arts forms that sued rope as weapons), and she was running out of options. At this point, only a combination of amazonian combat training and her own deifically spawned flesh were keeping her upright.

She now knew why Lady Shiva had earned the title of World's Deadliest Woman.

Shiva, on the other hand, was in the process of relocating three ribs with one hand while flexing certain muscles, realigning the bones in her other wrist. The amazon was tough, skilled, and every bit as likely to back down from a fight like this as she was.

Darkraven had been correct. This would truly be her greatest battle.

"Shiva, we don't have to do this," Diana pled, buying her body time to recover a bit since her link with Demeter's domain was currently unavailable.

"Oh, but we do," Shiva replied, stretching languidly. "Live or die, that is our battlefield, that is our code. Today one of us lives, the other dies. Prove your worth, Amazon!"

Diana let her vision defocus slightly, allowing the Sight of Athena to flow through her. Shiva was beginning her battle stance, but was difficult to read. Her emotional state was joyous, as was to be expected, but she was also... aroused? That confused wonder Woman intensely, but there was no way she was going to get put down at the hands of a mere assassin.

Not even one that the Batman... feared. 'Wait, Batman fears this woman?'

That thought nearly cost Wonder Woman everything, as Shiva's spear hand strike still severed a lock of hair from Diana's scalp, so close was the dodge. Diana kicked out, managing to land the strike on Shiva's thigh, launching herself into an upwards somersault. As she came down, Shiva was already closing the distance, her arm in place to block the kick that Diana was bringing down even as her other arm pounded Diana's abdomen mercilessly. As Diana reeled back breathless, Shiva kept the distance close, pushing farther up, almost climbing the taller woman's body with punches, elbows, knees, and finally a headbutt to Diana's nose.

Pain flashed across Diana's system as she felt her nose shatter, almost a punctuation to the savage beating that Shiva had dealt up her entire body.

Rolling hard to one side while punching the smaller, lighter woman away, Diana snarled. The tactician in her was now entirely overriding the diplomat as she assumed a different combat stance. Shiva had already rolled to her feet and was circling.

In a flash, Shiva was acrobatically dodging a golden streak, multiple times as it ricocheted off of walls, crates, and even one marine's rifle. Finally it settled into Wonder Woman's hand as Shiva smiled.

"I'd wondered when you'd get around to using your oldest weapon. The tiara is potent."

"It doesn't matter," Wonder Woman ground out. "As you said, today one of us lives."

"Finally," Shiva moaned out. "I was getting tired of toying with you. Now we can take each other seriously."

A hundred meters away, a few dozen marines were requesting additional cover. Like maybe a phalanx of Bolos please?

Indeed. And I *still* haven't figured out which of the two will win yet. That fight's pacing is still progressing through my mind. That's one of the troubles with my style of writing. Sometimes the original vision just doesn't make it out to the final product. It takes on a life of it's own whcih can end up to be a complete surprise for the writer.
