 That was a good series. And the movie tied everything up nicely! Go watch it all if you haven't!

Another great series. And yes, go watch it!

Have fun, David, rocking with those Spiders From Mars....

:?: Some type of song?

David Bowie classic: Space Oddity (https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=D67kmFzSh_o).

Got ya.

Not a bad try.

I have no doubt that Lancer would have used DB as inspiration.

Ya, Lancer is the better one to do him.

Hell wouldn't be surprised if his character was inspired by Bowie.

Well, maybe not as much, because it was made in Japan, but not to say he wasn't either.

SRoss wrote:Meanwhile in the Siberia sector, in a raging blizzard, a pair of strange mecha pass through a portal.

Lise: "Command! We've been cut off by the BETA herd, still no sign of the people they were in contact with!"

Suddenly an Alpha Fighter and a Spartan, with a FAST Pack and a huge Kukuri confornt them.

Anett: (Shield bashes the Spartan) "AAAAAAAAARRRRRGGGG!!!!"

Later...

Believer: "Yeah, Commander! It took us a little longer to subdue them then we planned. My Alpha was a little bit too lightweight for what we were fighting. Also Avakuh Khan-Shung is not used to fighting on his back..."

Avakuh: "I'm not used to fighting insane females..." :nh:

Believer: "Anyway, Doc's got the red-head strapped down on triple-Setsuna dose of trancs. The blond claims she's an officer in something called the STASI?"

Jones: "Weren't they the secret police group wiped out by the Germans during the Unification Wars?"

Loved the first episode and the "prequel", but that is one messed up universe. If any one universe needed intervention, this one would be near the top, IMO. They need some serious help. Also wandering how high the body count will get with this one.

I believe the Vampire Hunter D artist, Yoshitaka Amano, who CLEARLY was influenced by David Bowie, also once did a render of Lancer(who shares D's androgynous looks, down to the red lips, pale skin, and occasionally skintight punk-clothing). It's even more relevant, given that Amano is also fond of ballet-style opera rednerings, especially of actors-as-fauns.

Interesting.

SRoss wrote:Tollivar: "Watchtower here! Massive force crossing our perimeter zone!"

Tollivar: "Radar can't count them all! They've been joined by Mass Production EVAs!"

Jones: "Right. Declare condition Buttkiss! Deploy everything we have! Issue weapons to all personnel! Reinforcements?"

Vanitch: "Tokyo 3 says we're on our own! Still trying to get a hold of the Pathfinders, Mauve Squadron and MCH #69."

Jones: "The Deep Ones?"

Meanwhile, in the South Pacific...

37[sup]th[/sup] Bridge Bunny Equivalent #1: "Beachmaster capsizing!"

Pitcher: "What about Morgan?"

37[sup]th[/sup] Bridge Bunny Equivalent #2: "Typhus and Musashi, exchanging fire..."

Aboard the Typhus...

"INCOMINGTORPEDOS!!!"

Morgan: "Countermeasures! All stern tubes! Load forward tubes with Reflex Multi-Warhead! Prepare to surface! Flight Ops! Open hanger doors and launch all mecha as soon as we brake the surface!!!"

 That can't be good at all.

Meanwhile, back to the IceGuard...

"Sir! Our ground units can't hold them back! They're advancing on the airfield!"

Jones: "It wouldn't matter. Between their lasers and those Mass Production EVAs circling overhead like vultures, we can't anything into the air anyway..."

Taalismn: "We're borrowing your tarmac guys!!!"

Suddenly, a VB-6 Monster Custom, with MCH #69 markings skids down the runway in Guardian mode bowling over several BETAs.

Arnie100: "Firing missiles!"

Six Reflex Multi-Warhead missiles arc out spraying death among the BETA. As the EVAs descend to attack, the Monster transforms into battloid mode.

SRoss: "Firing Type-3 shells!"

Four cannons fire instantly reducing two of the EVAs to a fine mist.

Taalismn: "Now!"

At that moment a squadron of Tunnies crests the hill low and fast, pausing just long enough to drop their cargo of Defenders before firewalling their engines and getting the hell out. The Defenders form a line before the swarming BETAs.

Captain Mifune: (In Command Defender) "Knuckle-up!!!"

Major Jones: "Okay, we just got some extra time. *click* Celsias? Do your Invid magic now."

in response, all around the Ice Guard base, mushroom-like growths break free from the ice, rise into the air and glow, as overhead the aurora grows brighter, stronger, more tumultous, and NEARER.
Then a glowing WALL shoots down, connects to the Invid towers, forming a glowing curtain around the base. BETA fire slams into the barrier, and is absorbed. An MP EVA flies Into the barrier and is repulsed. The headlong rush is stopped dead.

Major Jones: "And some Mad Science would be most welcome."

An MP EVA lands and stomps forward, then one of its legs disappears in a hole...behind it, a few seconds later, a hole appears in mid-air, and an MP EVA leg appears, stomping down, stamping a BETA flat. Another MP EVA rushes forward , vanishes, then appears right NEXT to the barrier. Jones is about to protest this misfire when inbound BETA fire, already incoming when the MP EVA vanished, all hits it in the back.
Another MP EVA hangs back, draws its Lance, and throws it at the Invid barrier...only to see it vanish in midair. The airborne Lance re-appears, only directly BEHIND the MP EVA, whereupon it takes it full in the back and through the Core.

Major Jones: "Thank you. Please continue to #### over those creeps out there."

Another time-hole opens, dropping a load of BETA into the temporal coordinates of the Sun about a year ago. Another unleashes a horde of dinosaurs that briefly savage lesser opponents before they either freeze to death or are destroyed. Yet another time-hole sends an MP EVA running into ITSELF, and both vanish in a blast of paradox...

Nice, but wouldn't the lasers have hit the monster, or at the least, if it manage to somehow get in without the lasers seeing it, wouldn't they have seen the incoming missiles coming at them and shot them down?

Well, the Lasers did shoot the Monster, but she's got enough armour to take a few hits and she was going low and fast. As to the missiles, at that range the warheads were separating from the bus almost the minute they left the tubes.

Then the Angry Eskimos on their Arctic Rocs start dogfighting the RingWraiths....

And on the icepack a blue-skinned Ice Guard mutant looks behind her and suddenly begins shouting:
"SEDNA!!! SHE HEARD YOU!!!"
With a thunder and a growl that almost cracks the ice, a TIDAL WAVE of norca, groovesharks, gorwhal, ripwhal, and other arctic mutants crests a snow drift and surges into the lines of orcs and lower-echelon BETA.

1) And it also has a pin point shielding system, right? And ya, it does have a lot more armor then those mechs from the show. And I guess that means, to close to react. and 2) Got ya!

Flashback Xover:

Major Jones:”Okay, Gideon, Klench; I got your message. What have you got to show me?”
Srgt. Gideon: “Remember the Norma? Way back when?”
Jones nodded his assent; he remembered the extradimensional refugees that Ice Guard had briefly played host to, before they’d been evacuated off the ice cap by rare act of charity of Ice Guard’s remote superiors, who, for once, had actually LISTENED to the pariah command’s call for humanitarian assistance.
Gideon: “Well, before they left for the Warm, along with their mecha for the techs at RRG to study, they left us some of their surplus equipment. Including some of their cryogenic ammunition. The stuff they’d use to freeze DRAGON corpses?”
Jones: “Yes?” The true purpose of the Normas’ weaponry had been a sore point with the other group of on-and-off-again contacts, the dragon-women and giant skylizards that Jones had been putting off telling high command about. Command was half-convinced the Norma were some old offshoot of the Tirolians and that the ‘mana’ they kept talking about was something related to Protoculture. He didn’t want to know what they’d make of were-dragons claiming to be from an alternate Earth.
Gideon: “So, you’re thinking ‘exotic tech’ , right? I was talking with Doctor Zomus and Doctor Koonitz, and we figured out that we had all the fixings to replicate the stuff easy enough on the base. We can outfit our mecha with cryogenic weaponry easy enough-”
Jones: “That’s all very fine, but most of the critters we have up here are naturally resistant to cold-”
Klench: “Only if you can’t penetrate the skin, And a fifty-five meemee round like from our GeeYus WILL penetrate all but the toughest hides or shells. It’s still a very effective way of stopping biologicals in their tracks, short of blasting them to pieces or waiting for them to bleed out. We can start refitting cannon ammunition right away.”
Gideon: “Missile warheads too.”
Jones: “So we got new mecha munitions?”
Klench: “Infantry ammo too. Remember the Norma commander?”
Jones: “Yeah, held me at gunpoint in my own office.”
Well, technically, part of it was HER office, courtesy of the temporary dimensional merging of the Ice Guard and Norma bases, which set Commander Jill and Major Jones on a collision course in shared territory. But Jones always felt that the merging favored it being HIS office.
Gideon: “Well, after you knocked her out-”
Jones: “I did NOT knock her out! People keep saying that like I deliberately slipped her a mickey!” And that brought back old rumors of how he’d landed in Ice Guard..viciously untrue rumors, even amongst a population of pariahs who shuld know better.
Gideon: “It WAS your coffee, sir.”
Jones: “She drank it by mistake.” A spectacular mistake, once the chili powder and caffeine crystals had blitzed her tastebuds, then assaulted her nervous system, before the animal tranquilizers had delivered the coup de grace, and mercifully dropped her into blessed unconsciousness before her muscles could convulsively tear her apart.
Klench: “You wanted the medics to look her over to make sure you hadn’t killed her, and they did a look-see at her cybernetic arm.”
Jones: “Reasonable precaution.” Not everybody had Ice Guard’s acquired physical toughness, or an induced resistance to ingested toxins, and an obvious artifical arm could conceal all sorts of nastiness.
Gideon: “You were right about the concealed weaponry, by the way...she had a smaller freeze-bullet gun in her arm. Lucky she didn’t pump one into you.”
Klench: “But the fact that there was a smaller version of the bigger weapons on their mecha...Once we figured out how to make the bigger rounds, scaling them down was even easier.”
Gideon: “Oh, the magazines and housings still need to be reinforced and insulated, but we’ll now have assault rifle rounds and grenades for use. We’re already thinking of calling them ‘Ice-niners’ .”
Jones: “Promising. You tested them out yet?”
Gideon: “A few animals. Segundo, of course...she came through it with flying colors, although she’s still wondering how she froze in a hallway, instead of outside the sauna like she normally does.”
Klench: “Oh, and one of those East Bloc commando groups got too close to our practice range...”

Never...because the East Bloc is dumping THEIR screw-ups into the camp opposite IceGuard. Every freakin' gloryhound and dipstick they could see provoking a war with the UEG, they send to Camp Stalin, and it keeps things calm between the EB EBSIS and the UEG. For the UEG, Ice Guard is a dumping ground; for the East Bloc, it's a garbage grinder. Major Jones might be pleased that the East Bloc has such confidence in Ice Guard's ability to dispose of the communists' hotheads...
The Baltic EBSIS occasionally send some troops as a courtesy and just to see what all the fuss is about, and they've quickly twigged to the fact that the East Bloc commies and the UEG technocrats are using the IG zone as a
safe disposal zone'.

Darkraven looked over the colection of young, bright, eager faces. All three of them. Then his gaze scanned across the rest of the misfits, degenerates, and psychopaths. All thirty-four of them.

Smiling slightly, he shouted, "Okay, class! Who's ready to go out there and get slaughtered?!"

Well, this IS MCHS#69. The three bright, fresh, eager faces are probably the most vicious, horrifying, dirty fighters in the school. And enrolled there at gunpoint by their local authorities.
