Random Thoughts.
I was just thinking: What would happen if the Black Obelisk (from Chaos Earth: Resurection) were to appear on Earth either after the Zentraedi Bombardment or after the Masters were defeated OR during the New Generation?

It is well documented that for every minute you excercise, you add a minute to your life. This enables you, at 85 years of age, to spend an additional 5 months in a nursing home at $5,000 per month-An anonymous family member of Rathorc Lemenger.

Re: Random Thoughts.
Earth would be well and truly ####ed.
You'd have zombies with mecha parts plugged into them. GIANT zombies with GIANT mecha parts. You'd have people with a little better global coordination, but weaker weapons(hardly any personal MDC EBA and mostly conventional weapons) facing something straight out of nightmare.
Our only hopes? Second orbital bombardment, or gather up enough people and functional Zentraedi ships with working drives(preferably Fold drives) and try to find a new home somewhere away from the Cursed Earth.

Re: Random Thoughts.
After the Rain of Death? Much harder to deal with all the Giant Cyborge Bodies, but orbital and Artilery would be more prevalent and you woundn't have to worry Rifts or Blue Zones.
After Masters attack? Not as many dead bodies or Giant Zentran or Meltran, but lots of MD weapons and armor around.
During Invid invasion? Genesis pit, anyone? Undead horrors mixed with Invid alchemy!!!

The Regis's reaction would be interesting...would she determine that it ISN'T a human trick? After which, does she sanitize the infected hive(s), sit back and not persecute the human resistance while they turn their attention to face the new threat, cooperate with the humans in fighting the zombie plague, or does she gather up her kids and abandon Earth as 'tainted'?

Re: Random Thoughts.
Well, it DOES bring up a lot of story ideas for games.

Re: Random Thoughts.
scary thought regarding an "exodus" scenario.. what if the monolith gets ahold of a functional fold communication system or two from one of the crashed zent ships? what are the odds that it could adapt its signal to transmit over those and infect other star systems..
or worse, cobble together functioning starships from the wrecks, crewed with cyber-zombies, and go infecting and assimilating...
