Recon Kickstarter
Has Kickstarter been explored as an avenue to "reboot" Recon? It would seem like a good way to secure funding to print a new edition with lower risk to Palladium. Personally I use Recon as a framework and house-rule anything I need but would be nice to see a new fleshed out edition. "anniversary edition" or something?

After the massive Robotech debacle I doubt we will see Palladium go anywhere near Kickstarter anytime soon . . .
Even if they did though, I doubt that there would be much in the way of support from those out there who pay attention to that kind of thing.

Re: Recon Kickstarter
Considering they have trouble just getting out more than a full new book a year for Rifts (Sovietskii is the only fully new official book put out in the last calendar year) let alone anything else of popularity I highly doubt even kickstarter would enable them to do a new Recon (not to mention the aforementioned RRT fiasco.)

Re: Recon Kickstarter
Palladium is still producing Recon, right? I see it on their online store. $22.95 and in stock.
So, what sort of information for Recon would be needed/wanted?
Is the issue for PB capability (new material) or is it capacity (capital/production)? Kickstarter is really only a tool to build capital to get past a hurdle to produce something that is already complete and well planned.

You almost lost me to hysterical laughter at "well planned".....
However to answer....imo all of the above is the issue and frankly has been for a decade or more in general not just for recon.

Re: Recon Kickstarter
Oh, come on...KS is a tool, and most tools require some sort of knowledge to use it correctly.
As for PB...well, I just don't know. I keep playing the games, so it can't be all that bad. Maybe the chaos of Palladium is part of the charm...sort of like, um, a train wreck or Halloween grotesqueries? I know I am not the only person converting BattleTech into Robotech...

Re: Recon Kickstarter
As you know I still deal largely in their games......doesn't mean I think they anything right or properly beyond the basic game play system lol

Re: Recon Kickstarter
I came for the settings (my beloved Robotech...), and never really left. I loved Mega-Damage. Plus, the system always struck me as a half and half between D&D and BRP...which is actually great because I love BRP and Palladium scales really easy (for me) to almost anything else with its D20-esque/percentile system. Even the Recon system, unloved as it is, scales pretty easily to the rest of the Megaverse (hence my Megaversal Recon thread below).
