HOW DID WE MISS THIS FOR 26 YEARS FOR NECROMANCERS

Unread post by Warmaster40k »

Holly moley, High adventures of the seas is my favorite book in the PF line, it has one of my favorite classes the Necromancer. The one in the book was based on the Africa World Book. And it was a cut and paste. As was the "revised" version in Bizantium and the Northern Islands. Thing is it was a incomplete copy paste. The last thing in the PF version in both those books, is that Necromancers are inherently frightening and then jumps to OCC alignment and skill break down. Completely skipping PPE, OCC bonuses, Initial Spell Knowledge and Learning new spells. This was done twice over a 26 year period. Thank GOB I also have the Rifts books too to fill in the blanks.

For me the reason was the necromancers weren't necromantic enough, the attaching bits to your body is fine, but what i want in my necromancer is undead control and abilities, so I changed it. I also had to change it because i don't play second ed.

What page?
Because here is a break down of mine from Adventures on the High Seas

...text talking about class and aliment

Bottom of first Column pg 31Necramcer OCC Abities and Bonuses: please see rifts wb4 Africa for MDC Version.
Talks about thoer powers: 1 Union of the Dead features cost and body parts and what those do.
Pg 32 full page picture by Breaux
Goes into pg 33 talking about feets. Then Power 2 Augmentation and Additional Limbs. The power that transforms and augments. Bottom of Pg 33 going into pg 34. 3 Animate and Control Dead.
Pg 34 Bottom of first column; 4 Impervious to Vampires. Column 2 brings up the last power; 5 All Necromancers are Inherently frightening.

Then it states Necromancee OCC
Alignment
Attribute Requirements
OCC Skills
Related Skills
Secondary Skills
Standard Equipment
Armor
Weapons
Money
Pg 35 Insanity. Followed with chart
The Necromagic
Followed by the spells Command Ghouls, Consume Power Knowledge, Death Mask, and Death Strike.

Pg 36 has 10 more spells.
Pg 37 3 more spells, with a break down of level but still in alphabetical order. The gives a list of common spell magic available to necromancers.
Pg 38 has more spells Followed by a list of specific components and how much they cost. Spoiler, it costs a lot.
Then it moves into the Shaman Class.

Wow, what an error! I just checked myself, and my High Seas has it in, but my Bizantium is missing the whole of section 6!

Greetings and Salutations. My High Seas is also missing this information. Mine is a First Printing. I recall being at a Palladium Open House (2015, I believe) and I remember picking up a copy on their store shelves and saw it had been included (that may have been a Seventh Printing?).

So this is something that was missing from early editions but the errata was added in later editions (stealth update). Then it looks like when Bizantium used the information from one of the early High Seas printings.

That's all for now. Farewell and safe journeys.
