What do you want from Mechanoids Space?

Unread post by 89er »

Sure this setting is the Half Life 3 of Palladium Books, but let us give it a chance to see what it can do.

Do you want new people and places to visit, fight psionic cyborgs, or just try something new?

It should have the classic cyborgs and bot with new versions of each. The setting should be something along the hard sci-fi line. As alwasy the game should focus on the players with some updated and kick ass O.C.C.'s and a nice set of toys to complement them.

I agree with a lot in this thread.
The book should not only have the original Mechanoids (from the original series/the Trilogy reprint) but also the ones from Rifts SB 2. Bring in the Abberant Mechanoids. More details about the fleets and ships they use. What happens when an Oracle goes Rogue? What forces are allied against the Mechanoid threat, both spacefaring and planet-bound?
I can see special "Mechanoid Space" issues of the Rifier, expanding on the book (natch).

My friends and I have talked about this several times and given the information history in the Rifts SB 2 we always thought the most interesting way to start Mechanoids Space would be to set up the galaxy first. All the aliens, alliances, and even conflicts. Then roll the Mechanoids out slow, most people won't even believe they are back. Then, the war starts.

World books could be set up with stats for before the war starts and then after. This gives a chance for lots of different campaign types.

I like that idea!

Maybe some insight into a day in the life of a Mechanoid. Creey and neat

Orbital and space combat would be cool

The ABM war.

Where did the Mechanoids go? What is that giant disc?

Lots of background material of cultures and adventures.

Make it a space opera like thing with lots of detail, get us involved with the setting.

But mostly I just want to see it happen. I should have asked Kevin at Fanfare. I had questions (and grumpy hungry kids)

All-original artwork - IMO, there's some pretty goofy art in the original books.

I would like to see a recap of history for them, the evolution of what they have become in the mean time, a recap and history of how the small group that were brought to Rifts Earth are fairing.

Oh and strong editing to make sure there are not nasty C&P typos and tables which make no sense.

But then again, editing is what I want for all the books.

Well...

1) New Mechanoid vessels and types (at least 4)
2) Stats on a few important worlds (maybe 3 with the systems around them)
3) Set in the Phase World setting w/cross-over to Rifts Earth
4) New Psionic Powers
5) New Mechanoid robots
6) Motherships -revised-
7) Mechanoid combat tactics -defined in more detail-
8) New original art for EVERY mechanoid
9) A "main" Dimension book with the above, plus a sourcebook with new O.C.C.s and R.C.C.s for Phase World

I would like to see Mechanoids Space be an MDC setting. It should be an expansion of book 3, cover their return, the events leading up to the events in Rifts Source Book 2 and after.

I remember seeing references to Mechanoids Space in '94, this thread from 2012, and I see it listed as 'Coming Soon' in the store, but I am curious as to when you are actually expecting to release it.

I think it had one for a while, around 1993 or so.

I vote for....Existence.
The rules are not a bludgeon with which to hammer a character into a game. They are a guide to how a group of friends can get together to weave a collective story that entertains everyone involved. We forget that at our peril.

Make Mechanoids Space a Rifts dimension book. i.e. make it an MDC book with some conversion notes for SDC worlds

I would love some setting material, especially if it MS is done as a dimension book. I've played an MDC Mechanoids in PW, based on the Rifts SB version of the Mechanoids, and I think that is a good base to start with.

I would like to see it be a SDC-based game, with MDC conversions at the back of the book.

Actually, some random race and star-empire making tables might be good enough with a few hooks and fun events to run along, maybe.

The idea of a SDC-based game with MDC conversions at the end sounds nice too, makes room for meshing with either Aliens Unlimited & TMNT's Guide to the Universe or Phaseworld & Robotech.

As an aside, transformable and or combiner mechanoids, non-humanoid alien races divided between those supporting/exploiting the Mechanoids obsessions, those opposing them out of idealism/indignation/outrage and a number in the fence out of fear, weird technologies exploiting or expanding their psionic capabilities, maybe some mechanoid on mechanoid conflict over methods, styles and attitudes in dealing with the "humanoid issue", among other funky possibilities.
