S.D.C. given by Flight:wingless
One of the bonuses granted from the Flight: wingless power is +40 to S.D.C.
Normally when abilities give S.D.C. is added right into the characters S.D.C. total. However this power states that the character has to hover/fly to use full bonuses. Is that the case with the +40 S.D.C.?

Yes, the +40 S.D.C. bonus from Flight: Wingless likely only applies while hovering/flying.
The wording suggests the character gains some inherent toughness, but the full benefit is conditional on actively using the flight ability.

Yes, that is why the bonus is listed as part of the Bonuses In Flight.

Re: S.D.C. given by Flight:wingless
This is very strange to imagine - like what happens to bonus SDC when you're grounded? Do you still keep track of the loss of SDC ? Can it "heal" even though it only protects you when you fly once more?
Re: S.D.C. given by Flight:wingless
Thats why I let the bonus S.D.C. be always on while the other bonuses only applies when in flight. It will quickly turn into a nightmare keeping track of those bonus-SDC otherwise.

Re: S.D.C. given by Flight:wingless
The earlier editions of Heroes Unlimited list the "bonuses in flight", and then have the +40 S.D.C. listed separately under "other bonuses". Same for winged flight. The revised second edition definitely reads as if the S.D.C. bonus is in flight only, but honestly, I think that is a mistake made when editing the new edition.

Yeah, I can't imagine why you'd get extra SDC while in flight but not when standing on the ground. I'd just give it to the player and let it go at that.

No, its just extra S.D.C. total, not only while it flight.
The bonus to strike, parry, and/or dodge only applies while flying.

Yeah I would agree. Easier book keeping. And likely just a leftover typo from the first edition of heroes unlimited.Daniel Stoker wrote: ↑Mon Jun 10, 2024 3:53 pm Yeah, I can't imagine why you'd get extra SDC while in flight but not when standing on the ground. While its easier booking to just have it as a one off bonus. I might argue that it represents your ability to move with the damage/impact of an attack. Like how Hovering in City of Heroes gate you knockback resistance.
Though they are two very different powers.

If you support ICE/BCP/BorderPatrol at this point, you would have called the Gestapo on the people surreptitiously moving into your neighbor's attic and huffed that you were only following the law.
