Fantasy language Translations

Unread post by Rockwolf66 »

Hey all,

Has anyone collected up any of the non-english words in Palladium Fantasy and when available their translations. I'm wondering as it would be useful for adding depth to games or if one was a writer then they would have a handy reference.

Generally speaking, there isn't a lot in the books. Mostly it's just a few words here and there.

Personally, for elven, I resort to an online dictionary of Tolkien's elvish. For Wolfen, I normally use Latin. Dwarves tend to get Scots Gaelic. Western I typically use English, Eastern usually either Korean or Tamil, northern gets Norse, Southern is often Maori.

If I'm using an "ancient" version of languages, I'll often run it through two or three translations of related languages, so that it isn't all nice and "clean".

I will just use Tolkien's works for any fantasy-language.
