DB4 has a couple options here... "Rifts Connection" on page 127 says Charizolon are a few lightyears away from Phase World in the Corkscrew Galaxy...
"Heroes Unlimited Connection" on page 131 describes "Earth Connection" on 132 doesn't get quite as specific about distances to established locations in Aliens Unlimited or Robotech but suggests using both of them.
I think these are intended as either/or options but it made me wonder if they could both be true.
What if Charizolon was sort of like a "Pocket Galaxy" - a pocket dimension which shares boundaries both with the MDC setting of Phase World and the SDC settings of Aliens Unlimited?
That could explain how it is somehow a bit of both, how it might be a place where crossovers happen... which isn't that absurd an idea given the hints of Atlantean involvement in Seeron - perhaps they had some dimensiony antics involving that whole solar system?

Treating both connections in place has some narrative resonance. While right next to Phase World in terms of 3G FTL Charizolon is largely ignored as a backwater, and magic is essentially an unknown. If nothing else Seeron's surfeit of superpowers would be of interest to groups like the Splugorth, and the similarities between the Kreeghor and Tarlok seem pretty intentional. If the region has some sort of intangible benefit to the Promethians it might justify a disinformation campaign to keep other parties from messin' with the bumpkins. If the system is somewhat out of phase, such that it exists in both HU and 3G, perhaps it natively generates some sort of phase energy which the Promethians take advantage of.

You are correct that the options are intended as one or the other, especially since one setting is SDC; the other MDC.Plane wrote: ↑Sat Jan 25, 2025 3:28 pm DB4 has a couple options here... Now in your game you can do as you wish. Your premise is intriguing.

I guess it could work, dimensional crossing shenanigans could definitely explain MDC and SDC settings bumping into each other without skewing things too much between superbings, gear and so on.
As an aside because it has been so long since i've given the book anything like a good read, how do magic, psionics & the supernatural fit (or not) among the societies of the Charizolon system?
If memory tricks me not, on Skraypers superpowers in general seem to be tied to a failed bioweapon of the Tarlok, with much of the origins/concepts present in a more typical supers setting (or the HU book) being not really applicable - but i could be wrong, so i would like to her people's impressions on the subject, what the presence or absence of certain elements could tells us about Charizolon and how they have tinkered with the fluff/lore in their own tables.

The bio-weapon aspect is for Seeron itself, other races in the system have other explanations for their powers. The Magic/Psionics are about standard for whichever setting you use be it Rifts or HU2. Elements of the Supernatural I do not recall that being a major thing. But I could be wrong, as I do not have access to my books I can't look it up to answer that part.SolCannibal wrote: ↑Sun Feb 09, 2025 10:46 pm I guess it could work, dimensional crossing shenanigans could definitely explain MDC and SDC settings bumping into each other without skewing things too much between superbings, gear and so on.

Guess that makes two of us. Though i'm tempted to say the overall impression is that the supernatural, magic &/or psionics are much less present or familiar in the existence the people of Seeron or other worlds of the Charizolon system than in either Rifts Earth or HU - possibly closer to Beyond the Supernatural (or perhaps Nightbane, if one goes with a "quite active but very secretive" perspective) in elusiveness/unfamiliarity, there's no denying i don't wholy trust my memory on that subject and definitely need to reread the book one of those days to make a more coherent image of how those things roll in the setting.Marcethus wrote: ↑Tue Feb 11, 2025 3:35 pmThe bio-weapon aspect is for Seeron itself, other races in the system have other explanations for their powers.
