Probably necromancy and mystic, new ager, uh an inchanter of some type...not necessarily an alchemist. But I do hope he keeps the Arcanist as is.
I think he may throw in a techno wizard or something like one.

I would like to see the Acolyte from Through the Glass Darkly, as well as the Channeller. They both seem appropriate.

I thought of something else...Diabolist. And while I agree with you on the summoner, keep in mind that the Arcanist can summon greater and lesser beings also.

Which greater beings? I'm not familiar which spells can summon greater beings, other than Summon Nightlord, but then that's more like a friendly chat, with no power over what is summoned.

these two would only work if the underwent a serious re-write for the game. in some ways they're too powerful (all symbols/runes) & in some cases obsolete (Unicorn horn & Dragon bone need to be used some of the rituals)

That is why said diabolist is also a paleontologist. Dinosaur fossils are frequently called dragon bones.
Dinosaurs aren't Dragons (nor are they supernatural) and fossils don't actually have any bone in them. They are no substitute for real dragon bones under the existing rules.

Misfit KotLD wrote:Then I'd say the earth diabolist would have to come up with a substitute. Don't get wrapped around the axel on ingredients. The formula would have to be different if unicorns and dragons are unknown.
Perhaps narwhales horns could be the unicorn horn, and komodo (Spelling?) dragons could work, also a demon bone would work just as good. And it is some what easier to aquire a demon's bone when adventuring then it is a dragons.

Magical girls with transdimensional patronage vs. the supernatural critters of death. It's not horror but it would be continuity of a sort.

LOL
Since nobody's said it yet: Druids. We're talking about a world where there is magic, it works, and druidry most likely never died. Admittedly, knowing the druid I know, you'd have to make a fourth druid class, dedicated to making new and strange whiskeys, and setting things on fire. But to druids, whiskey is holy water, I suppose.....

I'm hoping for the Acolyte O.C.C. and Dabbler O.C.C. (unless they make them the same). I want to see all aspects of magic. From the die hards to the dabblers/victims. I want to see some serious history of supernatural over the centuries. I want to see what the modern world thinks about these beings that are able to pose as humans and commit atrocities. A want it all. I want to see where the creatures are hiding. Is it in the catacombs of France or the hidden tunnels of the Great Wall of China I want it all!

Yeah, new and MORE skills would be grand! Uh, I've had to resort to using the internet skills of 2 pages to give my characters actual simple skills. Ninjas & Superspies GMs Netbook and Ug's Palladium Site.

Well, page 138 specifically mentions the following Practitioners of Magic to be in the works for the Arcanum sourcebook:
Arcanist
Demon Worshiper
Necromancer
Witch
I wouldn't be surprised to see a Mystic type character too, since Rifts, Nightbane and Palladium Fantasy each have one. I also wouldn't be surprised if they threw in a couple of variations of magic classes from Chaos Earth: Rise of Magic.

I'd play it. Actually, I'll probably literally play it. None of the stores around here have BtS 2, but I've got HU2 in the other room.
