Dinosaur Swamp....does that look like a coloring book?

Unread post by ghost2020 »

I'm looking forward to a big book detailing the south east U.S., that being Dino Swamp, but the cover kinda cracks me up. It reminds me of a coloring book that one would buy at a museum.

Still, looking forward to it. So when the hell is it going to be out? : )

Coloring book or not, I want to see what the Coming of the Rifts did to Southwest Georgia and North Florida. Maybe there's a Holy Order of Ray Charles or the Athletic Knights of St. Bobby of Bowden (hehe).

I like it. :) It reminds me, and a several of my gaming buddies, of a "classic" 60's pulp adventure comic.

Yeah, I can see the pulp style there.

The only thing that bothered me about that toon is the stoopid kids and their dumb vehicles.

The only thing that I have in depth knowledge of in the southeast, is underwater...so my feelings are luke-warm at best.

I wonder if Camp LeJuene, Fort Bragg, and Cherry Point amongst other bases in NC have been plundered or if there riches were used to establish any of the existing power blocs in the swamp?

(forgive me if I screwed up the name LeJuene)

There's also an army base in Savannah and south of Jax, but being in Fla, it probably is sunk. Now if they follow the actual region and have the Everglades and Okeefenokee engulf the region.

I only mention the previous bases, namely the underwater ones, because GAW was able to salvage those ships from N.O.B. and F-14s from NAB Oceana (presumably) due to there being hardened storage facilities that preserved the equipment.

Of course, the New Navy might have already been there and made off with any choice pieces for resupplying.

I'm going to plug my webpage, which has fairly accurate maps of the East Coast. Since I based the maps off of what was previously written, I wonder how much the authors of Dinosaur Swamp actually ended up reading the previous books. It wouldn't be the first time that a new book contradicts what was written in an earlier book.

I went out of my way to maintain continuity concering the coastlines and other particulars along the east coast. Considering my extensive university education in geology and paleontology, and that I'm from the southeast, I think I knew what I was writing about, there folks.

Remember, I'm just as much a Rifts and Palladium fan as all of you are! I wanted to produce a quality addition to the line that while I know won't please everyone (quite an impossible task!), I do think the majority of fans will like it. Have a bit more patience and all your questions will be answered. :)

Just as long as Seymour Jonson AFB is utterly destroyed I'll be happy!

I'm sure the rest of my old SJAFB Rifts group would wholeheartedly agree!

I just remembered something that I thought would be funny for the NC section.

The settlers of the outerbanks come back. You know, the ones that disappeared and the only thing left was the word "CROATOAN" or something like that.

Would just be an unique explanation to what happened to them back then.

Actually it is Croatoan, and I would think that that would make a great addition to the mysteries of the Rifts world. Croatia is in the Balkans.

MattBaby was making a joke about his own ethnicity with the Croatian comment. Though I have to agree, he does more closely resemble a cretin than a Croatian. Must be the hair. :p :D
