While I'm not Maryann (and I'm sure she's thankful of THAT fact), I've always heard Chi-Town pronounced like that as well.

One that my group and I have been mispronouncing for 14 years is Armor of Ithan. For some reason we allways pronounced it like armor of Ethan like the "I" was pronounced like "e." Maryann corrected us it is indeed IThan with IT souncing like it. Boy did I feel like a nerd.

I hope not... if it is pronounced that way then it has hilarious results (that are unprintable here of course). .
hilarious results? in French or in English? in French, I know, that's why I make a point of saying "ch" and not "sh" ... but in english? would anybody light my lantern in private?

I had a friend who always pronounced it "splurgoth"... I told him to get hooked on phonix lol... I used to think it was pronounced like chai-town, but made a friend in the army from Chicago, and she instructed me on proper pronunciation... "shy-town".

..The difference is a matter of accent. "cha" is just "sha" with a quarter "t" sound at the front. In the flow of american speach, quarter letters have a tendancy to disappear. Chicago speaks almost as fast as those of us from KC, so it's natural to drop the t.
..this is why, svartalf, the hilarity ensues.
