How do you like to play?

Unread post by Larsen »

I was wondering how you guys like to play, or like to play most often. example I tend to play characters that die a lot becasue i do things like jump in front of bullets to save people or push people out of the way of oncoming traffic. also every once in a while i play a character who hates violence or guns. when i play the non-violence character its fun (try to tell a 15 foot oni that he shouldn't harm humans but try to co-exist with them, sometimes its just funny). so do u guys play any certain type of character often?

My characters tend to be rather tech-savvy, which means they tend to be Operators, Techno-Wizards, Rogue Scholars/Scientists, and especially Psi-Techs. Races tend to be either humans, True Atlanteans, or minotaurs... but Dog Boys have come on strong lately as well.

I've also had a fondness for supers in Rifts, if for no other reason because the rest of the group is usually into psychics, mages, or gunpacking mercs.

As for alignments, even though I've played pretty much the whole spectrum at one time or another I have to admit I enjoy being 'the good guy' a little too much. As a result, these days I usually play Unprincipled or Scrupulous with the occasional foray into Anarchist or Principled.

Wolfen, Ice Dragon Hatchlings, fallen cosmo-knights... it's about all I bother with...
Eyes without life, maggot-ridden corpses, mountains of skulls... these are a few of my favourite things.

Human/psychic humans. I prefer psionics to the exculsion of all other power sources. I tend towards confidence scam artists and free thinker types, depending on my mood.

i like characters who either let me explore my own personality. All of my characters have been based on a 'theme' taken from myself, whether it be my anger and self-destructive tendencies, my inability to communicate, my love for music, my selfish free-wheeling nature, or my capacity for compassion. Or sometimes i just drop in some guns and send them on their way.
as for OCCs or RCCs, i've played all kinds from ninjas to psi-stalkers to holy terrors to necromancers. i'll try just about anything once.

I couldn't resist pointing this out...the concept of twisted coeds who are studying philosophy/ethics just sounded too funny to leave alone. ;)

Twisted Coeds? WHERE????

I bet it did. It kinda reminds me of something a GM once did to me. I playing a bounty hunter thats is was more of a detective. I was trying to solve a 5yr old bounty where a guy in a mask killed 60 people then vanished.
he apparantly had no connection just went in and shot them all. well i eventually figured out that guy had met all of the 60 people at one time or another and had arranged for each person to be in that area individually so he could just kill them all in a way that looked like a random killing.
then as i continued to dig and started to travel to where these people lived people started to trying to kill me. I eventually figured out I was the killer and i had killed these people so I could start a new life for myself. unfortunately for me I had suffered brain trauma in the process that caused me to forget everything.
By the way my background for that campaign was an amnesia victim that became a bounty hunter to make a quick buck because my character was only good at killing or tracking people down. It was very fun and very weird campaign
