Compeium of contemporary weapons

Unread post by Larsen »

I was just reading the small description at the main index and I was wondering does it have MDC weapons as well? Also if it doesn't there won't be any major conversions to use the weapons in this book for rifts will there?

IIRC, it's all weapons from today (or whenever it was written). But to answer your question, no MDC weapons. M-16s, AK-47's, that sort of thing. All of which are normal SDC weapons in Rifts.

Well... it *does* include a number of greanade & rocket launchers, as well as a few vehicles with heavy weaponry that *would* do MD damage in the low range.

captain_Killern wrote:Well CFT? charges from New west will make them pretty good MDC weapons. Pluse Ram-jet rounds from mercs (albeit low level). And if you could get someone to forge steel tree rounds, then they would work as well... And there is always the old stand by...techno-wizardry.

It is a bit outdated, but I still get alot of use out of it.

You mad? 20th century weapons were not made to handle the massive heatup from a CFT energy discharge... you'd melt the barrel in 3 shots at most, and probably ruin the whole gun before that.

Ram jet rounds on the other hand... yep, those are a good way to make old blunderbusses into stuff worthy of the modern age AND still capable of hunting SDC game.

I can't comment on steel tree rounds, not having read Dino swamp yet... but are they magical (and truly MD) or just MDC material... and then they might need MASSIVE propulsion force to be able to harm MD foes?

techno wizardry is always a solution yeah... ruins the gun for its original use, but if you make it into an MD weapon, do you really care?
(course, you've got to be a wiz guy or psychic to use TW stuff)

thx and I'm glad it doesn't have ne MDC weapons in it. I just wanted to know what to all was in it. My main concern was whether or not it was easily convertable to rifts which I don't see why it wouldn't be but I figured I'd ask just in case.

.."Contemporary = Of the present day"

..In other words, Unless you know of a gun company in todays world that has MDC tech, it's not going to have MDC tech in it.

Here is a link to an online compilation of guns that were left out of the Compendium, or are to new to be in it. It will give you a general idea of what you will get.

Some of the TW weapons in New West can fire normal bullets, when not magically "charged."

2D6 per bullet or per burst? and how many bullets make up a burst for this gun since it has a 50 round clip?

2D6 per bullet. the damage from bursts would be per the burst rules in the firearm combat section of every palladium rulebook ever made.
unless you want to complicate things. I dunno, some people are into that.

The FN P-90 looks cool, but people who have dealt with it say it has some serious problems, especially with penetration.

..Close Quarters. So it's probably a very good setup for SWAT, who have to worry about bystanders. Less chance of a stray shot mortally wounding the bystanders.

..Of course, having weapons with that feature could cause them to get sloppy and really start spraying indescriminately....

..Sort of like your average PC.. :D
