My Anthromorpric world

I am doing a Game set on a Anthromorpric world where only 5 specific animal species evolved allothers did not!

Each of the Evolved animal species live on a Different continent.

So What Animals should I pic to evolved?

What Species should go to what Continent?

Birds

Reptiles (Allagators)

Find an animal primarily indigenous to each continent, and go from there.

You could run humans as being in Africa, since the first humans did arise there.

To throw a wrench into the works, you can make dolphins sentient too...

What type of setting is it?? Fantasy? Sci-fi? Post Apocalypse??

If a fantasy setting, you could choose an animal based on the typical aspect of the main fantasy races.

Human = Dog (or just mutant humans)
Elf = Lion
Dwarves = Badgers (or wombats, or wolverines for evil dwarves.....)
Gnomes = Moles
Trolls = Rhinos
Ogres = Elephants
Halflings = Domestic Cat

You get the idea. ;)

In any case...what else is he gonna have in Oz? 90+% of the mammals there ARE marsupials. It's been a while, but I'm pretty sure marsupials are mammals - after all, they do, as you pointed out, give birth to live young, which is the key qualifier along with being endothermic...

Here is How I will do it

Europe:Dogs,Foxs and Wolfs.

Africa:Lions,Phanters and Cats.

North America:Rabbits

Aisa:Monkey

Australia:Humans

Ther tech-level is Victorien ear 1860.
Europe made contact with Africa in 1250.
Europe made contact with Aisa in 1492.
Europe made contact with North America in 1570.
Europe made contact with Australia in 1810

One minor correction: Marsupials are one of the three types of mammal, along with placentals and monotremes.

um......I was taught that koala bear was the name of the creature, however wrong it might in its name. I have never heard it called just a koala or a koala marsupial to be correct. Mainy things are like that example American Indians. They are not from india but guess what still got the name. I know in recent years it has been changed to Native Americans but to the best of my knowledge the koala bear's name is still koala bear. If its been changed in the past decade I'm sorry for not having heard. :thwak:

Yes, I do know that, I was just tired when I posted that and went on my mini-rant. Koalas are my fav animals, so yeah, I know that they are in the family of mammals.

I goofed. ;)

As to the percentage of marsupials to mammals, I have no idea, but I agree that it's got to be bloody dang high. ;)

They were origonaly called Koala Bears, I believe. Back in the early days of the white settlers. But it's been some time since the 'bear' part of the name had been dropped.

Now, its just the tourists that call them koala bears.
