Full Conversion Borgs:How long to change suits of borg armor? :? Iam wondering how long (in actions/melees/minutes/ECT) does it take for a Borg to swap out his critically damaged LI-B2 (33 MD left) for his undamaged backup LI-B2 or HI-B3 armor? Any help would be appreciated.

I'd say from half a melee to a full melee, depending on what armor it is. the two lighter ones take half a melee, the heavy ones a full melee.

Hmmm...

All things considered, with all the bits and pieces involved, it should take at least an hour to remove all of the pieces, and replace them with new ones - after all, it used to take a knight 20+ minutes to suit-up, and he had buckles not bolts.

Borg armor, for the most part, appears to be bolted on in place. So with an impact wrentch and a helping hand, I can see it fully swaped out in three minutes, (faster if there is more than one person helping, kind of like a NASCAR pit crew). By himself and an impact wrentch, five minutes. By himself and with a more primitive ratchet wrench, we're probably talking about closer to 20 to 30 minutes.

By himself, with power tools, 30 minutes (if he's well experienced at doing so and has all the stuff in the right place, plus isn't taking fire or having to move around). With an assistant or two, 20 minutes. Don't have power tools? Double or more that amount of time. Heavily damaged stuff in particular could be exceedingly hard to remove... what if the bolts have been damaged? You could need a cutting torch to remove the armor if a plasma grenade melted the threads solid. Maybe certain shards of the armor got bent inwardly, or just across the area where the tool should access, then requiring a prybar to straighten out.

I did the 10-25 minutes thing... seems plausable enough to me.

By himself a borg wouldn't be able to change all the armor not readily...how would he do the back pieces? with help(someone with the proper PS to lift the armor) and equipment, could do it in under 10 mins easy. I have to agree with Dead Boy, a certified Mechanic/armor/Operator could bust it out quick like :P

well... you know, the fact that borg armor is bolted on rather than buckled or otherwise doesn't mean that the bolts are put in the most inconvenient places : the back pieces would be bolted atop the shgoulders, &/or at flank/hip level, all accessible places

Grendel wrote:One thing no one has suggested yet, is that those times are with good undamaged armor. I would even add a penalty given the percentage of damage to the armor, given that a bolt could have been hit, ripped out of the hole, or even need to be retapped before a new bolt inserted.

Hehe, actually, I did mention that in my post above, but I won't hold it against you! :-P Hurray for battle damage.

One would think that nations like the CS, NGR, Free Quebec, Japan and others who are invested in cyborg usage would have a machine with a varity of specialized robot arm/tools as part of their mechanical program to do quick refits. The Borg just steps into this box and a swarm of arms decend apon him strip off the damaged sections of armor, replace them with fresh plates (or refit with a differant catagory), rearm the internal/on-borg weapons and *bing* the borg is ready to go of a slayin' again.
