Question: What is an "Auto-G"?

Unread post by GaredBattlespike »

Question: What is an "Auto-G"? Please forgive my ignorance, I have no idea what this is. Is it an O.C.C. , P.C.C. or an R.C.C. ? :?

Thanks,

that would make them a playable race, like Elves and such I belive. not an RCC. that's a fine difference.

NEK ... an RCC *is* playable... just ask a host of dragon hatchlings...

the difference between an RCC and a simple race, is that the RCC is often Race AND OCC in a single package, while the race usually chooses an OCC to give it skills and/or special abilities Another case is that an RCC is usually specific to a single race.
There are a number of races, especially in the Anvil and 3galaxies books (and perhaps some in Atlantis and Splynn market) that give their own typical RCC skill package, but leave the player free to choose another OCC if he prefers.'

The Auto G is detailed in the SoT Series book Socerors Reveng.
They are a shape shifter who can actually become any humanoid race with that races natural powers except spell casting. They must consume some of the racees DNA that they are trying to morph into. They can even become a specific person in appearence by consuming at least an ounce of their DNA.
They claim to be Human in origin and say that they are some kind of mutant.

I think it's an RCC...

As for a description, think about Mystique from the Brotherhood of Evil Mutants...minus the unicolour eyes and blue skin. ;)

I don't have all PCs take to their OCC (or whatever) as soon as they can walk, or fall out of the womb. The Auto-G might take some time to learn about a few races in detail (and collect many specimens) and spend years/decades so he can fit in, then takes an OCC.

Thats fine if thats the way you play it but even if he started at the age of twenty and only went up a level every couple of years he should still be higher than level four. For the record I never mentioned anything about them starting from the womb but most young adventurers usually get to level one by around 18 to 21 years old and would probably reach level six or eight by age 35 or so unless he sits at home and doesn't adventure....

It sucks to have the power of Mystique and have someone see thru the deception the moment they look at you. If you've read the Dune books about the Face Dancers you'd understand.

Oh I understand completely but the analogy is not applicable because of the way the power is described under the Auto-G description.

Heh, wow, an ounce of DNA eh? I guess you might be okay with dragons and such, but I'm thinking that removing enough tissue from a human to extract an ounce of DNA is going to be *extremely* noticeable to said person.

That or a someone who works in a 'massage' parlour... *chuckles*

Doctor maybe, but I don't think I'll be going back to any barber that manages to get that much tissue from me, and as for the "massage parlor..." well, yuck, but I suppose if you save it up, with enough return visits...An ounce of DNA is a LOT.

Presuming the requirement is literally an ounce of DNA from the subject to be copied (as opposed to an ounce of tissue)...take a single living cell, disect it for the nucleus, disect same for DNA. Place DNA in appropriate growth medium after treating with certain specific chemicals known to unravel (ie: "unzip" the molocule) DNA, allow to grow by supplying all the base pairs they need to replicate, place in fermentation tank, and allow to grow in optimal conditions. A few days later, you have an ounce and more of DNA from the proper target. :D

Well ... I interpert the thing as an ounce of DNA containing matter ... so that amount of hair would be just right, of a largish blood sample.

as for the "massage" thing ... it would have to be a prettty intensive session, or be done over several times to extract that much stuff

Well yah, I guess you could set up a huge-ass PCR reaction (which, while slightly off on some details and missing some things, is what you just described, whether you know that or not, hehe). That's a hell of a requirement to use a natural ability though, hehe.
I'm pretty sure by an 'ounce of DNA' they meant an ounce of human tissue.
Heh, yah, I know that. I was being tonge-in-cheek, it was just one of those things that struck me as funny.
