Nope. Not much reason Doom can think of if you have the Rifter.
Especially since the Lazlo vs. Xiticix angle was thrown away.

yes. get it. it's awesome. it has all the stuff in that one Rifter, plus more bugs, expanded information on how and why they work. Plus it gives some great stuff on local Psi-Stalker tribes, and some Hook Line Sinker adventures.
but get it used, cuz there's not much else. :-?

It was Rifter #3.
There you go man, keep as cool as you can.

Odds are you should be able to get a "used" one very cheap.
Virtually everyone who got the 2002 Christmas grab bag got a copy of Rifter 3. A lot of people including myself already had it and so we now have two.

World Book - Xitixic Invasion is a good book :ok:, esp. if you want to run a low level campain with new/inexperianced characters.

Rifter 3 and the old GM screen has some infos, material on the bugs.

I would say yes to getting it but get it used. A lot of the information is basically copied and pasted from one of the Rifters. It good book for beginners but definitely an average quality book imo. Then again I still have a sour taste in my mouth when Gen Holmes was able to sneak 30000 and more men past the Xitixic without any negative consqueneces.

I threw away the thrown away Lazlo angle.
In other words, I'm using that book and the CS is trying to consolidate... they WILL send in Holmes with a few hundred troops to mop up, but the CS isn't going to be the big saviours.. they can't, and whoever came up with the idea to have the CS soldiers who just got out of one MAJOR conflict and go into another like that doesn't know much about the military... the CS has only ONE general who compares to Patton enough to pull it off, and she's in Lone Star. If the CS tried that they'd lose terribly. The soldiers are tired, and have their hands full as it is.

I'd say get it if you want to include the Xiticix wars in your campaign. It's very good, but not worth it if you do away with the storyline.

I included that plotline in my campaign. Lazlo does a number on all of the Xiticix hives except the Duluth one for fear of being caught up in the Tolkeen conflict. To mesh this with Aftermath... some hive queens and many hive queen eggs survived. The Xiticix go into overdrive to replenish their numbers (and protect the queens) and they're catching up quick.

I also didn't like the SoT Jericho Holmes storyline with 100,000 guys surviving Xiticix territory by not fighting back when the XIticix attack them. I thought it was way too unrealistic. Humans want to live and will fight to so do even when their CO orders them not to. Seemed dumb to me! Thus, I had Holmes get through but with only about 10,000 troops left. He launches his surprise attack from the rear with them (mostly power armor, special forces and commandos), destroys the magic sheild, and creates enough chaos to give the CS enough time to launch a frontal assault. CS wins but with casualties increased by about 200,000 (including Holmes troops).

But Holmes ends up wiping out a large number of Duluth Xiticix. Leaving them open to future CS assault.

I did close to the same thing. There's also the fact that military guys DO look out for eachother, and if my buddy was about to be torn apart by bugs or whatever and my CO ordered me NOT to defend him/ her or myself, I'd first vape the Co then the bugs.

Actually Nightshade your decription is what I would have like to see in SOT. Holmes and his army survive but a large chunk of his army was destroyed. With a more realistic number count. It's like the whole mages and armor thing. There were never any penalties then "poof" all of sudden mages get penalized for wearing it it.

Well it did say that they preferred light armor.
Now you know why. :)
