..You're over thinking this... The damage done by the sword is increased by your strength, so the sword doesn't do 2D6 in your hands, it does 2D6 +5. So double damage would be 2D6+5 x2.

close, I THINK? the rules state that damage is dobuled BEFORE PS bonus is added in.

so it would be 2d6*2+5

but I do it like you do anyway 8-)

Interesting. Since vamps are only succeptable to the silver and laugh off normal damage, I've always figured that the strength damage bonus was negated, making the damage form a silver long sword 2D6x2 and nothing more. If more brute force behind silver melee weapons equated into more damage vs vamps, then you'd think that those with robotic or supernatural strength would do even more damage with silver weapons. But they don't despite the greater hitting power. Ergo, I think that the PS damage bonus doesn't apply.

but supernatural ones do do more damage.

your strength drives the BLADE in deeper, doing more damage.

so technically if i have supernatural strength and attack a vampire with a silver sword, i'm going to do Mega-Damage to his hit points? awesome; the vampire just took 2000 damage direct to hit points.

as one Vampire PC of mine told a human PC shortly after they met (mixed game I was running) on one enemy they were facing with a magic sword and supernatural strength.

human: "your a vampire, could he kill you with that"

Vampire "kill? no, but that sword of his could hack me into little peices no problem."

I recall it being described in the Vampire Kingdoms book that the Vampire's flesh was kind of mushy to the touch, meaning even a guy with normal strength could drive a silver blade all the way through and do the same damage as a guy with supernatural strength. Remember, it's the silver (or wood) that does the damage, not the force behind it.

On another note, I don't believe that just because a character has supernatural strength means that he can do HP damage to a Vamp. If I recall right, (and I admit, it has been a while since I last read that book), the only kind of critters that can hurt a Vamp in straight hand to hand are "Creatures of Magic" and not necessarily any with Supernatural Strength. A Kydian has SN Strength (and an SDC body), but that doesn't automatically entitle him to by-pass a vamp's limited invulnerability. On the other hand a Dragon is a true Creature of Magic and can whoop a vamp's butt with impunity.

There you go with the D20 rules again.
Don't you play Palladium?

First venture into this world... I guess this is a house rule then, because this is what the more experienced players told me... Sorry, but it just makes sense that you can add more power behind something with 2 hands instead of just one.

just a house rule. Palladium makes no distintion if you use something one handed or two handed, except that some weapons, like spears, can ONLY be used two handed.

Spears can only be used two-handed? That's silly and... where is this rule?

Actually... you're probably better off with weapon dmg + PS bonus, OR it could be SPS MDC dmg+sword dmg, whichever is greater, doubled either way for being caused to the vamp by a silver weapon.
