mega-cities

Unread post by Jason Richards »

Okay, so Chi-Town has a Mega-City... are there any others? I have this shadow in my mind that I read that they are building another one in New Chillicothe, but don't know for sure. Lone Star is an underground military complex. Free Quebec's capital is a "fortified city" and Iron Heart's capital is the "City of Iron".

I consider the major cities in the Republic of Japan as "mega cities"

also, In my game the New German Republic's capital is a Mega City.

outside the CS, Japan, and Germany, there isn't really the tech base or need for mega cities.

Acorrding to the RMB and Aftermath, there are a dozen small fortress cities simalr to Chi-Town in the CS. The only one that is named is New Waukegan (somewhere in CWC , I think)...

yep... there seems to be a loophole.

Bu "megacity", do you specifically mean chi town style fortress cities, or just any huge population center?

I thought that NGR says German cities tend to be much more open and spread out than CS cities. Look at the description of Munich, for example.

that's why I said in my game.

it's not cannon, but I couldn't personally envision that level of tech without at least one, so I changed it.

A mega-city specifically refers to any city with a population of more than 1 million.

I read what you said. I was simply illustrating how I don't think that particularly fits into the NGR aesthetic.

why? I already knew what the book said, I have it myself you know.

Why change the NGR aesthetic into a CS copy?

I didn't. it's a mega city, but a lot more stylish. I just gave it a new one.

from the pix at the beginning of Atlantis, Splynn might be (that's quite a pix) if you believe the pix. That pix in the Rifts RPG shows one of the arcologies sprouting up in the background, so I figgered it was Chi-Town.

isn't that an 18-wheeler zippin' down that expressway in Atlantis ?

No, it's not, it's described as a great airy city, with wide avenues, great plazas and monuments (not least of which is the giant Pyramid at the center), and it's mentioned how airy and stately it is, as compared to the dark, grimy alleys of Dragcona, and that the skyscape is full of flying beings and devices. So it just can't be an enclosed thing like chi town...

Okay... let's put it this way. Anybody got page numbers for references to Coalition Chi-Town style fortress mega-cities OTHER than Chi-Town?
