World Book: X ~ Romania

Unread post by Dead Boy »

Someone borought up the idea of a book for Romania up in a different string as a joke a little bit ago. But I got to thinking, this could be a really good book. Not only is this the land previously called Transylvania which is ripe with lore from its own history and cinema, but it would also be a great opportunity to redo the Vampire RCCs and structure so they are so lame. Boo 1: Vampire Kingdoms was strong in potential, but in execution it made it so a kindergardner could kill a dozen vamps with a Super Soaker, a TW flashlight and a handful of wooden stakes. On top of that, Vampires were set up to be everybody's cockroach problem whoes sold destiny is to be wiped out by everyone from the Splugorth to the Coalition to every being in the megaverse, be they good, bad or out for themselves. But with a little restructuring, it's possible to make the Vamps into fearsome foes that nobody wants to #&@% with and everybody respects.

Just a thought.

hummm... don't you mean Water vulnerability rather than immunity? An in myth, vamps were indeed said to be unable to cross running water.

Silver, OK

but what about sunlight? Most mythical vampires *were* unable to come out before sundown (and I have that from vampire tales written in the 18th century) ... of course, the "sunlight burns and destroys them" might be Hellywood hype... but it's sure that most traditional vampires were completely inactive in daytime... and the cockrow might either
a) expose them to the deadly rays of the sun
b)freeze them in their tracks and make them unable to move till sundown
c) send them into hiding and in search of a nice, secluded and dark place to spend the day if they can't get back in time to their grave
d) magically transport them back to their coffin/grave to spend the day.

The Balkans is too much of a real world hotspot to see Palladium do anything with the area.

My wife {who's Romanian} would love the idea of a Balkan book... and she'd love to see fire rather than water hurt vamps. She says that in some tales, vamps couldn't cross running water, in others they could, in others yet it was certain vamps that could or couldn't... also, the only water she knows of that could acually harm them is from a CERTAIN river I can't even begin to spell because it is sacred to one of the old gods {I can pronounce it though lol}. She also says that silver was usually said to be effective against them and against were-wolves.
Eyes without life, maggot-ridden corpses, mountains of skulls... these are a few of my favourite things.
